This video shows how fast AI Programs can allow computers to teach themselves to play video games and quickly become superior to a human without any input data from a human.

Draw your own conclusions but this goes far beyond just video games.

DeepMind Technologies is run by Google.

so its some videos not live playing for the story. 2D graphics. The game has a fixed repertoire of what it does in the game. For games that old there was no AI in the game mechanics. So it's pattern based. Programs can learn patterns for sure. Pitching a 2015 computer against a 1980's game.

They will have to tackle 2.5D and then 3D. He's right it's going to take them a while. Translating that to real world will be another leap in the processing methodolgy.

I think that video and it's implications are far more significant than most people think. It really is just a matter of time before AI exceeds mankind's intelligence.

This reminds me of the Terrence McKenna thread, where he stated that increased complexity in machines (novelty he calls it) is the natural next step in the universe's evolution. Crazy stuff!
