Nationally syndicated radio talk show host Mark Levin (http://www.marklevinshow.com/common/page.php?pt=podcasts&id=191&is_corp=0), on his show last Thursday, called out Washington officials for their hypocrisy on the issue of a federal government shutdown stating that “f the federal government had been closed today, because John Boehner and the Repubicans in the House stood their ground to protect the Constitution, you would be told … all kinds of horror story possibilities, which are lies.”
“Isn’t it amazing,” stated Levin. “And I joke about this every Friday, or even more often than that. The federal government is closed today. The federal government is closed today.”
“If the federal government had been closed today, because John Boehner and the [I]Repubicans in the House stood their ground to protect the Constitution, you would be told that our national security would be threatened; you would be told that our domestic security would be threatened; you would be told that the checks might not go out; you’d be told all kinds of horror story possibilities, which are lies,” stated Levin emphatically.
“And so, about six to eight inches of snow, even before the snow, we had a preemptive government shutdown – to the extent that government shuts down,” said Levin. “It’s amazing to me how we are played, how we are manipulated, how fake the media are in this country. It’s just amazing to me.”
Levin went on, “It’s the same thing with Saturday and Sunday. I’m serious now. If, in fact, taking off from work on a massive scale in Washington D.C. for federal employees threatens the nation’s security, among other things, why do we have weekends? Why do we have three day holidays? Is this not bizzare?”
Then Levin provided an answer:
“And the answer is, because government shutdowns do not threaten our national security; they do not threaten our homeland security; they do not threaten, in some cases, sadly, checks going out – the functioning of the left; and yet we’ve now bought into this entire lie that we have to vote for every debt ceiling increase, every continuing resolution, every budget, every omnibus bill – even when it’s not constitutional – or some piece of the government will shut down and our security will be, you know, there will be a catastrophe.”
“And yet, we have snow, Mother Nature, shuts down the federal government,” said Levin. “And let me tell you something, the kids are glad to be staying home; the teachers and the administrators are glad to be staying home; the civil servants are glad to be staying home. Everybody’s staying home, and they’re happy about it – except me. But there you go.”
“We don’t have the president of the United States, where is the president today?” asked Levin. “He’s doing nothing today. He did nothing yesterday, and now he’s going to go off to California and do fundraisers. Talk about part-time jobs, there you go. Imagine the damage he could do if he actually worked.”
Levin continued, “But I’m very serious about this, because it exposes how phony this whole debate is. Every time it comes up to a budget issue, how they play us; how they play senior citizens; how they play young people; how they play to our security concerns.”
“Oh no, we gotta keep the government open. We can’t shut the government,” mocked Levin. “And everybody thinks, ‘Wait a minute!’ People are going to walk off the job; they’re going to walk off the border, the border patrol; the FBI’s gonna go home; the military will be stuck; nobody’s going to do anything.”
“It is a lie!” exclaimed Levin. “It’s a lie every weekend. It’s a lie every three day holiday. It’s a lie every snow day, when they shut down the government.”
