Anyone used any snugpak gear? I've been looking for a couple of years for a useful 2 person tent. I'm figuring to house 1 person. Weight it an issue because I will be lugging it.
Snugpack Scorpion 2 looks interesting. 3.5 season tent. < 4 pounds.
I've looked at a fair few and a couple tunnel tents.
Hillerberg Anjam 2 or Tarra or Nallo 2
MSR Nook or Fury
Nemo Tenshi
All pricey options. I might need to add a bit of weight with a ground sheet but it would be minimal. The SnugPak comes in at about $260 which puts it at 1/3 to 1/2 the price of others.
Also interested in their light weight sleeping bags or any light weight sleeping bag. I doubt I am going to need anything for below 3 or 4Celcius (37 - 40F)
So anyone tried this brand?

Not sure on the tents,
But for the bag, you may want to look at mil surplus gor tex bivvy bag with the green inside bag. The bivvy bag alone can act as a shelter no tent needed in all weather. Throw a woobie blanket (poncho liner) and you are good to go, The woobie alone is something you do not want to leave home without it. ;)

I have the full 4 piece that I can pick and choose which combo to use depending on the weather, But with the bivvit bag and woobie alone are good into the low 40° F and the combo does not weigh that much.
The full 3 bag and carrier (4the piece) is kinda heavy but I have used it into the low 10°f (clamed -30 F or so) and kept very warm.
Maybe you can find something similar from the Australian military surplus, if you have such a thing?

i've been looking for some shelter options for a while. Australia has very few options locally and of course all the good stuff is made in US or EU. That means got to ship it. Anything that is available here is often double cost.
So a snugpak scorpion 2 tent is USD $256 + $25 shipping. In Australia same thing is AUD $429.00. Exchange makes it USD $327. I guess its about $80 saving to ship.
The other thing I've been looking at is a hammock. Keen on a DD hammock but even those run at about AUD $230. To get a few extra accesories for easier slinging and its' closer to $300.A lot for a hammock. So I think tent wins out for priority. Hammock will have to wait.
Might see if I can score a poncho liner on the same order.
