View Full Version : Where is Putin??

Silver Rocket Bitches!
13th March 2015, 04:10 PM
The Internet is all abuzz after Putin has been missing for a week. Canceling appearances and not communicating with his counterparts in other countries. Laying low during a coup? Stroke? DEAD?? Who knows!

Russian President Vladimir Putin hasn’t been seen in public for a full week, and that’s more than enough time to rev up the rumor mill.
The Kremlin was busy swatting down rumors about Putin’s whereabouts on Thursday after Putin again failed to make any public appearance. The president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov, said that the president was in good health and was continuing with his daily routine, though he had cancelled a scheduled foreign trip the day before.
The result has been widespread speculation in Russia, where Twitter hashtags translating to #WhereIsPutin and #PutinIsDead were both trending on Thursday.
The 62-year-old Putin’s last public appearance was a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi on March 5.

Binge drinking?

He is truly in a fucked position and I wish the best. A coup I doubt, he knows the wests strategies and doubt he would let that happen. A coup in the USi happened long ago and think he would have taken a few pointers from it.

Russian President Vladimir Putin hasn’t been seen in public for more than a week, sparking rampant speculation and rumors that he’s ill, been toppled in a coup, secretly got married or has even died.

The White House was unable Friday to shed much light on his whereabouts with principal deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz telling reporters “I have enough trouble keeping track of one world leader.”
Schultz suggested reporters should contact the Russian government for questions about its leader, adding, “I’m sure they’ll be very responsive.”

Schultz didn’t say if Obama has been briefed about the rumors. But asked if the U.S. government is operating under the assumption that Putin is alive, Schultz said, “I’d say so, yes.”
The Russian president hasn’t been seen in public since March 5, leading to rampant speculation -- and the Twitter hashtag “#putindead.” Russian state TV tried to tamp some of it down Friday, showing what it said was new footage of Putin, meeting with the Russian supreme court chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev. The Kremlin also announced Putin would meet Monday with the president of Kyrgyzstan in St Petersburg.

“We don’t really know and we’re trying to grasp at straws here to understand what, if anything, is going on,” Steven Pifer, the former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, who is now director of the Arms Control and Non-Proliferation Initiative at the Brookings Institution, told Boston’s WBUR. (http://hereandnow.wbur.org/2015/03/13/where-is-vladimir-putin) “It may be in fact that there is no story here.”
Moscow, Pifer noted, “tends to thrive on rumors and his absence from the public view really has those rumors astir.”

The whereabouts of Russian president Vladimir Putin were shrouded in mystery last night amid rumours he was at the bedside of his pregnant girlfriend or sidelined with an illness. Putin, 62, has not been seen in public in recent days and an official picture of him meeting the chairman of Russia’s supreme court has been dismissed as being out of date. Reports in Moscow suggest he could be in Lugano, part of the Italian region of Switzerland, where former Olympic gymnast gold medal winner Alina Kabayeva, 31, was rumoured to be about to give birth. As gossip reached fever pitch, other reports claimed that she had already had a child. Other rumours circulating in Moscow claim he has suffered a stroke or may be about to be the victim of a coup following the sudden cancellation of a scheduled trip to Kazakhstan.

How many kids does this girl have? This story has been going around since 2008.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s alleged mistress has denied giving birth to their lovechild, saying that the baby is actually her nephew.
“My sweet little nephew Arsenio has joined my ever-extending family in Moscow. Everyone,of course, thinks that he is my son (laughs),” Alina Kabayeva,a former Olympics rhythmic gymnast, was quoted by the ‘New Tork Post’ as saying.
Without referring to Putin, the 27-year-old Uzbekistan-born beauty has dropped hints about her love of powerful men.
“There are men that are afraid of strong women. Of course I know men that will always be stronger and higher in power then me,” she was quoted by the US newspaper as telling the ‘Russian Vogue’ magazine.
Kabayeva will grace the January cover of the magazine, which will be the first for its new editor,Viktoria Davydova, who took over Russian Vogue in July.
Putin is still married to flight attendant Lyudmila Shkrebneva, and they have two daughters.
Putin and Kabayeva were linked in 2008 by a Russian newspaper owned by billionaire Alexander Lebedev. Putin denied a relationship, saying,”there is not a single word of truth” in the story, and the paper was later shut down.
In 2008,Kabayeva gave birth to a boy rumoured to be Putin’s,although she has never identified the father.
A source was quoted as saying,”The elite of Russia believe that the story was given to Vogue to try to squash the rumours, since everyone is positive that once President Dimitry Medvedev’s term is finished in 2012,Putin will run again for his old office.”

I don't know what's going on, I figured this board would be a bit more abuzz about this.

Here's a translation from a Russian site today:

Recent terrible news from Russia - a military coup in Moscow on Red Square tanks, Putin has disappeared, Medvedev resigns. Druzhbayki pass: In Moscow, adjacent to the tracks, especially on the M2, M7, M8, M11, A103, A104, A106, others marked movement of internal troops of armored vehicles, columns of buses with curtained windows, a lot of Tarpaulin trucks and refrigerators. Many roadblocks GIBeBeDov no / type of our DAYshnikov / ... on Lenin, Kutuzov and Yaroslovskomu highway vengeance darting small and large tuples assorted bureaucrats. On access roads to the dachas near Barvikha enhanced security. Ring / head office there the prostitutes / third day as a patrolled by large groups of combat helicopters Ka-26 and Ka-52, especially areas Odintsovo, Biryulyovo Domodovo and Khimki. Internal Troops of the Russian Federation, a division of the Federal Security Service, are given in full combat readiness. In the markets, bazaars, in some squares observed accumulation of small groups of persons of Caucasian nationality. While behave quietly. In the area of China Town, as well as in close proximity to the Kremlin guys have counted more than 67 scattered and parked to the side of trucks. A 9 trucks are almost at the entrance to the Red Square, but imparted to them the policeman says, they say they are disassembled scene to celebrate the upcoming anniversary of the seizure of the Crimea. Drivers of trucks do not leave. In all other respects, the center of Moscow live their "quiet" and "peaceful" life. What does it mean?

The walls of the Kremlin mounted the stage, and, most likely, it will serve as the main stand of Russia, which will be announced resignation from the post of Putin on a number of unpredictable factors.

Consider another option - demise of former President Putin. In this case, do not hesitate to describe a possible scenario, but I know for sure, in the Administration of the President of the Ukrainian develop scenarios of the first reaction and actions of Ukraine in the case of all possible options. Tactfully.

Vladimir Putin is alive but has been 'neutralised' by shadowy security chiefs who have staged a stealthy coup, according to the head of a leading Russian Muslim group.

Geydar Dzhemal, chairman of Russia's Islamic Committee, claimed former security service chief Nikolai Patrushev was behind the plot.
The Russian leader (http://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/vladimir-putin) hasn't been seen in public for the past 9 days.

Dzhemal, who is seen as a Kremlin loyalist, said: "I think that Putin is neutralised at the moment, but of course, he is alive.
"He is under the control of the power-wielding agencies, who have, in my opinion, organised a coup d'etat."

Here's an interesting comment I found elsewhere on the web:

A Russian blogger has speculated that a coup may have been launched by a faction of Russia's intelligence community that dissaproves of Putin's handling of the Ukraine crisis.
One Russia analyst sums up what he thinks a variety of stories in the last few weeks amount to - a slow-motion coup in which some security officials in the Federal Security Service (FSB) and Federal Protective Service (FSO) with Kremlin chief of staff Sergei Ivanov, former KGB, team up against Putin, whose allies are Chechen strongman Ramzan Kadyrov and the Interior Ministry or police, which also commands thousands of internal troops.
Two blog posts from the LiveJournal blogger v_n_zb known as KatrinSha on Twitter provide some insights. This blogger is saying what others including independent newspapers and analysts are saying, but she's putting it together more coherently than most. Some of her insights match those of Andrei Illarionov, former advisor to Putin now at the Cato Institute, who says "the generals are taking over."
The first post concerns Yevgeny Primakov, one of the veteran political "clan" leaders of Moscow, who as a former foreign minister, intelligence chief and prime minister has a lot of influence. (See Lithuanian expert Marius Laurinavičius's piece Primakov Clan’s Trap for the West or a Little about Putin’s Peace Roadmap).
Primakov, who was born in Kiev advocates keeping the Crimea but not annexing the Donbass, so he is something of a "moderate" compared to others although non-Russians disagree with his plan for "centralization" which contains within it Russian homogenization, and Westerners would find his diatribes against "neo-liberalism" quite Soviet.
...
In his speech at the prestigious Mercury Club, where he serves as president, on January 13, 2015 Primakov basically "tore Putin's policy to bits."

He said Donbass should remain in Ukraine
He opposed Russia's self-isolation
He advocated a move away from Russia's role as "the world's gas station" and diversification of the economy
He acknowledged anti-semitism, chauvinism and neo-Nazis as big problems in Russia

Primakov's starkest comment in this speech was:
"There are no grounds to believe the readiness of the executive government to propose a justified plan based on concretely specified actions to turn the country toward diversification of its economy and its growth on this basis."
tl;dr: Certain high ranking officials in the Russian government, particularly Yevgeny Primakov, sincerely doubt that Putin can resolve the Ukrainan and economic crises. They fear that Putin may throw Russia into chaos, so Primakov and his allies could be motivated to depose him
http://www.interpretermag.com/russia-update-march-14-2015/#7468
Russia's media has also suddenly adopted a new tone towards the Ukrainian conflict since Putin went missing:
KatrinSha focuses on events of the last week that she believes will tell us who is really in charge in Russia:
1. The term "Novorossiya" and "DNR and LNR" disappeared from state television channels and the terms "Lugansk and Donetsk Regions" replace them.
2. The "purging" of the "implacable" field commanders among the Russian-backed separatists has begun -- we could note there was an assassination attempt on Mozgovoy and Motorola (Pavlov) is also believed to be targeted.
3. Separatist units have begun to be called "bandit formations" in Russian media
4. Two additional humanitarian convoys have been sent immediately to the Donbass. "This time the quotation marks can be removed from the word humanitarian," says KatrinSha.
In other words, it seems that there has been a sudden and seismic shift in the Russian propaganda machine's attitude towards the events in Ukraine since Putin went on his unannounced hiatus. Interesting, intriguing stuff, IMO.

Its as if Putin were telling the truth the entire time... he's wasn't supplying those troops in Ukraine.

Some rogue faction was.

On the evening of March 7th the information about an assassination attempt against the commander of the "Ghost" battalion Alexey Mozgovoy started to appear on the internet. These messages quote the activist Gleb Kornilov:

MOSCOW (Reuters) - More than 45,000 Russian troops as well as war planes and submarines started military exercises across much of the country on Monday in one of the Kremlin's biggest shows of force since its ties with the West plunged to Cold War-lows.
President Vladimir Putin called the Navy's Northern Fleet to full combat readiness in exercises in Russia's Arctic North apparently aimed at dwarfing military drills in neighboring Norway, a NATO member.
"New challenges and threats to military security require the armed forces to further boost their military capabilities. Special attention must be paid to newly created strategic formations in the north," Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said, quoted by RIA news agency.
Shoigu said the order came from Putin, who has promised to spend more than 21 trillion rubles ($340 billion) by the end of the decade to overhaul Russia's fighting forces.
Putin made his first public appearance since March 5 on Monday, an absence from view that had fueled feverish speculation over his health as well as his grip on power. He was meeting Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev at the Constantine Palace outside Russia's second city of St. Petersburg.
Norway is currently holding its "Joint Viking" drills involving 5,000 troops in Finnmark county, which borders Russia in the resource-rich Arctic circle where both countries are vying for influence.
Russia's drills would include nearly 40,000 servicemen, 41 warships and 15 submarines, RIA reported.
Tensions between Russia and Europe worsened last year, leading eight northern European nations to promise to boost cooperation to counter an increase in Moscow's military activity.
NATO made new allegations last week that Russia was arming separatists in east Ukraine, where more than 6,000 people have been killed in nearly a year of fighting.
The West and Kiev accuse Russia of supplying arms and soldiers to support the pro-Russian separatists. Moscow denies the claims.
NATO says it counted more than 100 intercepts of Russian planes into members' airspace last year, three times more than in 2013. The intercepts have forced civilian planes to change their courses and Britain scrambled Typhoon interceptor planes after two long-range bombers flew over the English Channel.
Norway said its military drills had been planned before the Ukraine crisis.
"However, the current security situation in Europe shows that the exercise is more relevant than ever," Lieutenant General Haga Lunde said in a statement.
The Russian exercises are due to last for much of the week during which Russia will celebrate its annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, carried out with the help of special forces.
Other drills involved 5,000 troops in Russia's eastern military district, while another exercise included another 500 troops from Russia's troubled North Caucasus region of Chechnya, the site of two separatist wars, wires reported.
The exercises were meant to focus on fighting Islamist insurgents, whose movement to create a Muslim state has spread across the predominantly Muslim North Caucasus, fueled by religion and anger at local abuse of power.

STRELNA, Russia (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin reappeared on Monday after 10 unexplained days out of public view, laughing off the "gossip" over his health that had erupted during his absence.
The 62-year-old leader met the president of Kyrgystan at a lavish Tsarist-era palace outside St Petersburg in his first appearance since Feb. 5. His unexplained absence had fueled rumors he was ill, had been overthrown by the army or had even flown abroad to attend the birth of a love child.
"It would be boring without gossip," Putin said, smiling easily before television cameras and looking relaxed, if pale, in a dark suit and tie.
His spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, mocked the press for its interest, referring sarcastically to the various rumors: "So you've seen the broken, paralyzed president, who has been captured by generals? He's only just flown in from Switzerland, where he attended a birth as you know."
In a carefully choreographed double-act, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev also vouched for the Russian leader's health, saying that Putin "just now drove me around the grounds; he himself sat at the wheel."
The Russian leader prides himself on his macho image. In 2008 he said he worked like a "galley slave" to run Russia. Typically, he is shown most days on state-controlled television, meeting officials in Moscow or traveling to Russia's far-flung regions.
During his absence, the Kremlin unexpectedly canceled a trip to Kazakhstan and a meeting with officers of the successor to the KGB. Pictures were posted on the Kremlin website of meetings Putin had with public figures, which it later emerged had been taken several days earlier.
The absence began a week after an opposition leader was gunned down outside the Kremlin walls, adding to an ominous atmosphere in a country suffering from an economic crisis worsened by international sanctions imposed over Putin's decision to intervene in neighboring Ukraine.
Throughout his absence Russian officials had said that Putin had been working. Peskov said he had answered "10 times over" what Putin was doing during his absence from live appearances. "It is impossible to say anymore," he said.
Putin remains hugely popular in Russia, which has experienced a surge of nationalist sentiment fueled by state-run media since Putin sent troops to seize Ukraine's Crimea region a year ago.

Ok, here's the other speculative comment which appears to be correct:

It's pretty obvious Putin has been using the D.E.N.N.I.S. system on all of us for months now. He's currently at the second N.

D- Demonstrate Value (get re-elected)
E- Engage Physically (take Crimea)
N- Nurture Dependence (get high approval ratings)
N- Neglect Emotionally (disappears for a couple weeks so people will start rumours about him)
I- Inspire Hope (reappear in a couple of days for the Crimea annexation anniversary)
S- Separate Entirely (probably reach levels of political insanity we can't even imagine)
He's not dead, just making his people worry something happened to him so he can come back as a hero next week.
