Ketv newswatch 7, at 10:00.
Brandi: First, the outrage over senator ernie chambers comments comparing omaha police to isis. Good evening, i'm brandi petersen.

Rob: I'm rob mccartney. Tonight, the head of the nebraska's police union even goes so far to say chambers made a terroristic threat.

Brandi: Ketv newswatch 7 reporter dave roberts, live with the big story.

Dave: Tough talk from the men and women ernie chambers compares to terrorists. And why they fear the fallout could mean more than hurt feelings. If i was going to carry a weapon, it would not be against you or the people here that i might have a dispute with -- my would be with the police. If i carry the gun, i would want to shoot first and ask later -- like please do. Senator chambers is saying that he would do that, he wants to do that -- it is a terroristic threat, something we should have the attorney general look into regarding that blanket statement. Dave: Senator chambers defended his words to us.

Chambers : First of all, i did not say i would use a gun on police. What i was trying to get across, all of the lame excuses that police use after they kill someone. My isis, in this country, are the police. That is how that statement came up, i indicated isis has never done anything to anybody in my community -- the police have. It is a very hurtful statement, comparing us to what most americans see is the most radical group out there. It makes you angry. For lack of a better word, it is ridiculous. His testimony disgusting. As long as we do what is right, we will be ok.

Dave : Is this a roadblock or a pothole? I would say a pothole, it is unfortunate we have to respond to comments like that. Dave: Senator chambers will not back down, scolding anyone asking for an apology.

Chambers: I will continue to condemn the police when they are wrong.

Dave: The police chief called the statement reprehensible and without merit. Chambers reaction today proves that is highly unlikely.

Brandi: Ralston's police chief stands with omaha police officers -- calling them hardworking, dedicated professionals. Chief ronald murtaugh says chambers' comments are "not only reprehensible but completely without merit, unbecoming of a state senator, and have brought no value to the discussion of police community relations."

rob: Nebraska's governor has not offically said anything about however, he tweeted this picture today. Writing, quote, "promoting respect for nebraska law enforcement is key to building a society that values the rule of
