I was taught to step forward with the same leg as the fist I was punching with (Kung Foo San Soo). It gets you in closer to the victim and allows more control. But go ahead and punch me with your telegraphed baseball punch.

Good video, I was taught not to punch but to take the punch, then grab an arm. If you can get an arm you've got 'em.

I prefer the opponent to make the first move/punch. Defense. You get a choice to either strike, or tie the arm up and bring him down. Many times you can catch the opponent off balance after/as he's thrown the punch.
I'm a grappler from way back. If things do go right standing up, I'd take the fight to the ground.

That being said, I prefer not to fight anymore.
