San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon ordered an immediate internal investigation Thursday into what he called "disturbing" video showing an arrest by deputies after a horse pursuit that was caught on camera by NewsChopper4.

Deputies appeared to use Tasers to stun a man and then beat him after the pursuit in San Bernardino County Thursday afternoon.

Aerial footage captured by NewsChopper4 showed the man falling off the horse, and then being stunned with a Taser by a sheriff's deputy.
The man then appeared to fall to the ground with his arms outstretched. Two deputies immediately descended on him and began punching him in the head and kneeing him in the groin.

The group surrounding the man grew to 13 sheriff's deputies as several appeared to kick, hit, and punch him dozens of times over a two-minute period.
In the two minutes after the man was stunned with a Taser, it appeared deputies kicked him 17 times and punched him 37 times and struck him with batons four times. Thirteen blows appeared to be to the head. The allegedly stolen horse stood idly nearby.

The man did not appear to move from his position lying on the ground for more than 45 minutes. He did not appear to receive medical attention while deputies stood around him during that time.
The man, identified as Francis Jared Pusok, 30, of Apple Valley, was hospitalized with unknown injuries, authorities said.

Three deputies were injured during the search. Two suffered dehydration and a third was injured when kicked by the horse. All three were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The series of events started when deputies from the Victor Valley station went to a home on Zuni Road to serve a search warrant in an identity theft investigation, authorities said in a news release.

The suspect took off in a vehicle and deputies initiated a pursuit through unincorporated Apple Valley, the town of Apple Valley and unincorporated Hesperia. The area is more than 80 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Pusok allegedly abandoned the vehicle 40 miles away from Hesperia in a place called Bowen Ranch where he took off running.

During a search on foot, with off-road vehicles and by helicopter, deputies learned the suspect had stolen a horse and rode it on dirt trails through rugged, steep terrain, causing numerous injuries to the horse.
A sheriff's helicopter inserted a team of deputies to take the suspect into custody. As deputies made contact with Pusok, the horse threw him off.

Deputies said the Taser was ineffective due to his loose clothing and a use of force occurred.
"I can certainly understand the concerns in the community based on what they saw on the video," McMahon told NBC4. "I'm disturbed by what I see in the video. But I don't need to jump to conclusions at this point, until we do a complete and thorough investigation. If our deputy sheriff's did something wrong, they'll be put off work and they'll be dealt with appropriately, all in accordance with the law as well as our department policy."

San Bernardino Superior Court records show Pusok has convictions for resisting arrest, animal cruelty, disturbing the peace, attempted robbery and failure to provide evidence of financial responsibility.

The horse seem interested also, he hung around wondering what it was all about too.

I actually started laughing when the beating started.

Because it is so typical of cop-pigs.

Man face down on the ground with arms and legs spread.
Two officers approach one at suspects head, the other at his feet

First cop at suspects head: Boot to the head!
Second cop at suspects feet: Boot to the balls!
The beating ensues until the suspect tries to shield his body.
Shielding your body is considered resisting arrest.
Cops lay into him with full swinging open and close handed fists, knees, elbows, shoes and boots, etc.
The beating continues until 8, er strike that... 12 cops surround suspect, who is still reeling (body spasms and twitching) from the blows.

One man more than an entire football team. Considering that they managed not to get in each others' way too much...great effort, great teamwork! BOO-YAH!

Francis Pusok was beaten by several deputies after fleeing from the officers on horseback.

Francis wouldn't be in the news today if only his dad had slapped him during his tantrum at Wal-Mart as a toddler.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The sheriff of San Bernardino County, California, said on Friday he has suspended 10 deputies involved in the videotaped beating of a suspect who appeared to have surrendered and was lying on the ground after making a failed getaway attempt on horseback.
Sheriff John McMahon said at a news conference he was "disturbed and troubled" by what he saw in the video, which was shot by a KNBC-TV news helicopter as the confrontation unfolded on Thursday near the desert town of Apple Valley, east of Los Angeles.
"It appears to be excessive to me based on what I saw in the video," he said of the force used in restraining the suspect, Francis Pusok, 30, after the man had already been shot by a Taser stun gun and was splayed face down in the dirt.
The aerial footage surfaced on Thursday amid intense media coverage surrounding another video clip from South Carolina showing a policeman there fatally shooting a man running away from the officer after being stopped for a broken tail light.
Ten officers involved in the beating of Pusok have been placed on paid administrative leave pending a special investigation of the incident, the sheriff said.
McMahon said Pusok was treated at a local hospital for abrasions and bruises, then jailed on several criminal charges, including felony evasion and possession of stolen property.
Pusok initially fled in a car when confronted by officers who showed up at a residence to serve a search warrant as part of an identity-theft investigation, McMahon told reporters.
He eventually ditched the car, ran a short distance on foot and stole a horse before deputies swarming the area in off-road vehicles and helicopters closed in on him in the rugged, hilly desert outside town.
The video shows Pusok galloping on horseback until he falls from the saddle, briefly scrambles to his feet, then throws himself to the ground, spread eagle on his stomach with his arms out in front of him as two deputies run up with Tasers drawn.
The two deputies are seen immediately pouncing on the suspect, taking turns repeatedly punching and stomping on him while several more officers join in the fray, delivering repeated blows and kicks in a scuffle that goes on for at least two minutes.
McMahon said the Taser apparently was ineffective against Pusok because of his loose clothing.
Two deputies were treated for minor injuries and released, the sheriff said.

Not mentioned in the story is that when he ditched the car at Bowen Ranch, he ran down the two mile trail to Deep Creek Hot Springs, a clothing optional natural hot spring with several hot pools. I sometimes rent horses from nearby Oak Springs Ranch and the guy that had his horse stolen is the owner. I can picture 60 year ole Glen running after the guy naked.

You gotta give the guy points for originality... trying to get away on horseback? That's old school cool!

The cops, on the other hand, are perfect modern day coward bullies, a lack any honor whatsoever.

I was at the range yesterday around lunch-time.

There was this guy practicing with a new rifle that jammed on him shortly before I got there.
Firing 5.56, same caliber I was using.

He had a cop jacket on but I had been asking at the office about disposing of ammunition.
I have some rounds from garage sales, loose bullets mixed in with computer stuff or something.

1 306, and 1 5.56.

Plus some .22's I found in the sand at the range.

So my question was, how do I safely dispose of this ?

I don't want to walk into the local police department with a baggie containing a few bullets.

"The local police are total assholes" ... I may have said something like that.

( Side-stepping color, un-provoked use of force by police on any citizen, stinks of sh.t.)

Anyway, he said he trains local police departments. He knew one of my firearms instructors.

He showed me how to safely (he said) extract the gunpowder.

I thought gun-powder is pressure sensitive, specifically it is sensitive to compression events.

Potassium nitrate, carbon, sulfur ... just need some phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium, and you have a complete set of primary and secondary plant nutrients.

But it was sort of wierd talking to a "real law enforcement type", though with a brain, in
the wake of the many recent cops killing civilians unprovoked.

So how are we supposed to defend ourselves against local police, if we can't have guns ?
Nail-guns ? Maybe if you increase the pressure by 100 fold, use way more heavy duty fittings ...
that could work ?
