Man uses katana to stop home invasion, this is the gory aftermath (NSFW)
APRIL 11, 2015 BY BRANDON
Let’s face it, we all know someone that has a few samurai swords. Whether they’re there to prevent a home invasion, or an attack by zombies after the SHTF has occurred, everyone has a reason for owning swords.
Well, in this case, the swords came to a very good use and helped to defend a man’s family from home invaders. This is the gory aftermath. The home invaders were stopped immediately upon entry into the man’s home. They bailed to their getaway car but did not make it very far due to massive blood loss. They were found by police shortly after driving away, both unconscious due to blood loss.
After research and finding a translator (that wasn’t Google) We finally found the text of the ORIGINAL article in Spanish. This home invasion took place on April 10th 2015 in Córdoba, Argentina.
An elderly man and his wife were resting at home around 3:30pm in Cordoba, (Siesta time.) Several guys broke into their home through a window, beat the hell out of the two of them, then began to separate the husband and wife – they were taking her to a different room.
The husband began to panic, grabbed a decorative sword off the wall, and started slashing the robbers. The robbers fled to a car where an accomplice was waiting and sped away. They were chased by cops, crashed into a pole of some sort, and were arrested.
The italicized article above – which is a translation but doesn’t appear to be the same one as was linked in Spanish above – implies a fourth person was arrested when they showed up at a hospital for treatment for cuts to the forearms, and that a woman was also arrested (perhaps as an accomplice).
The original article says the married couple have been together a bit more than 40 years, so we’re talking about people in their late 60s/early 70s in all probability.

Maybe those guys learned a lesson about making bad choices and decisions. Seems they will carry reminders about consequences of their choices for the rest of their life's.
The owner did what he had to do, and won!

Judging by the tags on the cars this was in a country which restricts or bans guns.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation#Argentina
Firearms in Argentina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentina) are regulated and enforced by the federal government. Gun ownership is allowed to the population, subject to RENAR, the branch of the ministry of justice that regulates firearm laws in the country. All prospective owners must first obtain a permit in person at a RENAR facility, which allows purchase and possession. The minimum age to apply is 18. Applicants must have a signed certificate from a medical professional that they are of sound mind and body, and provide detailed instructions of where the firearms will be kept and proof that a gun safe is owned (usually a store receipt will suffice). Applicants must also complete a RENAR approved firearm safety course and be subjected to an extensive background check that considers mental health and criminal factors. Lastly applicants must give a reason why they want the license. All the following are acceptable reasons: Collecting, Target shooting, Hunting, Business, and Self-defense in the home. If the applicant meets all the criteria, the applicant is fingerprinted and the license is issued.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation#cite_note-1)
All firearms purchased must be through a licensed dealer and registered with RENAR. If a firearm is inherited a re-registering form must be filed. There is no limit on the amount of guns that may be owned so long as they are properly stored. The sale of ammunition is required to be recorded by the seller, though there is no restriction on the amount or the type that may be owned.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation#cite_note-Explainer-2)
Carry permits for licensed handgun owners are available, but are extremely difficult to obtain. One must file a request to a board to examine the applicants case of why they would need such a permit. Generally most ordinary citizens are denied the request. If the request is approved, they must appear before a RENAR board and make their case in person. Then the final decision will be made to accept or deny the request. If the request is accepted, the permit must be renewed yearly to re-examine their "clear and present" danger. If the danger is removed or dissipates at any time, the permit is usually revoked immediately. Those dealing in money or valuables, or work in private security may be issued a highly restricted business carry permit.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation#cite_note-3)
Firearms in Argentina are generally categorized into three categories for rifles, handguns, and shotguns. The age to buy "civil use" firearms is 18, while the age to buy "War - Civil conditional use" firearms is 21.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation#cite_note-4)
Handguns:
Civil use: Non-fully automatic handguns up to .32 caliber
War - Civil conditional use: Non-fully automatic handguns above .32 caliber
War - Exclusive Use for the Armed Institutions: Any fully automatic handgun
Rifles:
Civil use: Non-fully automatic rifles chambered in .22LR or lower.
War - Civil conditional use: 1. Non-semiautomatic rifles chambered in a caliber above .22LR. 2. Semiautomatic rifles chambered in a caliber above .22LR with a non-detachable magazine.
War - Exclusive Use for the Armed Institutions: Any fully automatic rifles and semiautomatic rifles chambered in a caliber above .22LR with a detachable magazine.
Shotguns:
Civil use: Any non-semiautomatic shotgun with a barrel length of at least 600mm
War - Civil conditional use: 1. Any semiautomatic shotgun. 2. Any shotgun with a barrel length less than 600mm, but not less 380mm.
War - Exclusive Use for the Armed Institutions: Fully automatic shotguns and any shotgun with a barrel length less than 380mm.

While I do not feel sorry for those guys, I don't really like seeing those things. Seeing people in a life changing event [like a shark attack, where they didn't "ask for it" -- didn't even look at it.....] is not something I get off with.

Yeah, I agree. I've seen a lot of dead bodies. When the soul leaves the body, all that's left might as well be a sack of potatoes. Almost like it's hard to believe they were living breathing people.

My Dad turns 71 next month. I think I'll get him a katana for a birthday present.

Dude, that would freak me out.
I've had discussions with someone here [forget his handle] about Anarchy on the non-aggression principle. What he said sounds good, but would never happen. People can be f-ed up and the level of violence they will use is almost beastial.
My abhorrence to violence couldn't let me do your job [cop or medical services?].

This is why you would be the best person for the job.
That's the problem, guys like you, never sign up and get involved. The world would be a better place if you did.

I've thought of it. In the city where I live [winnipeg] you can join the police as a patrol cop and after 5 years, you can transfer to something else. I would want to do computer forensics, which I do as a hobby already. The problem is that some people hate you the minute you put that uniform on regardless of the character of the person. That could be a long 5 years.

Don't let that stop you. Everyone hates you. It's not you, it's the uniform. Don't take it personal. Read this forum, basically that's what people will think of you....
My best advise: Pick the right department.
steyr, we need good people to get involved. Good people can make a difference.
