big ooops. Lawsuit against the individual and his force/town/state.

They had the guy far outnumbered and under control. Even pulling out a tazer would have been extreme. Until these thugs start paying for their crimes, they will continue.

Oklahoma sheriff says reserve deputy mistakes gun for Taser; shoots, kills suspect

He mistook his gun for a tazer? Hard to believe, they are nothing like each other.

The part-timer* is 73, I suspect the early onset of dementia.

*playing reserve deputy was probably his 'fun' thing to go do to get out of the house and away from the old lady

Or he gave kickbacks to the sheriff.

Old man longed to tazer someone and watch them squirm under his control. Oops. Shot him instead. Oh well. Move along...

It appears that your assertion is on target. The old fart wanted to play cops and robbers so he paid to play.

I hadn't followed this story one bit. Read the headline when it came out 10 days ago. I just pulled the worst case scenario out of my ass.

Followup: Tulsa sheriff knew Bates was a problem SIX years ago and did nothing. Now Bates is taking off for a family vacation in the Bahamas...think he'll ever go to prison for this cold-blooded murder? I'm guessing he won't. Most people are required to surrender their passports when charged with such a crime, but not the privileged.
