Man, I'm impressed with these sights. I installed the front and rear XS sights on my 45-70 marlin guide gun, and took her to the range today.

At a 100 yards I was able to hit the bulls eye, with a very tight grouping. I even tried to reach out to 200 yards, where I was able to hit paper, but mostly cardboard. But still, to reach out iron sights at 200 yards with a 45-70 round, 400 grain bullet, I'm really impressed with the accuracy of the guide gun. I'd be comfortable and confident at hunting out to 100 yards, for sure. With practice, maybe even 200 yards confidently.

Before the XS sights, I couldn't hit the side of a barn with the gun, what a difference. Best upgrade I've done to the gun. I also installed a limb saver recoil pad. I highly recommend this pad. I was able to shoot this gun and handle the recoil quite comfortably. With the stock pad, after 10 or so rounds, you are done for the day. With the limb saver, you can keep going for quite awhile.

Anyway, XS sights. I highly recommend.

Big Dot XS sights are a must on pistols.

You get fast target acquisition and night sights all in one.

Arc shooting from that far out with the 45-70 (200 yds). Never tried it myself.

Too pricey to practice. :o

I was shooting the cheap "ish" HSM ammo I bulked up on. Has the same ballistics as the expensive hunting ammo.

I wouldn't have tried 200 yards iron sights if I wasn't so dang accurate at 100. Surprisingly, not much arc actually. The ballistics said it was zero at 140 yards, then falls like a rock. I was aiming at the top of the target because of that, but shooting still high and to the right. There was a breeze affecting this as well.

Damn surprising. Has me curious about this round and the supposed "arc".
