Was $499/1,000, on sale now for $399/1,000. For those of you with a 9mm which will withstand the non-SAMMI spec ammo this is a smoking deal for hard to get Gold Dot +P+ so I suggest you jump on it.

Now you know what my current avatar is.

;)

That's the 124 grain though, which is the hardest to find.

The 53617 is not as hot. I prefer being maxed out on horsepower (53612).

Which is why my ultimate go-to round is the GD 53234 (.357 Sig), 1375 FPS/525 ft./lb. @ muzzle (slightly more muzzle energy than the GD .45 +P). :o

Hey Sukhoi,

What do you think of Underwood Ammo (http://www.underwoodammo.com/)? Have you tried any of their 357 SIG loads?

I am contemplating some of their offerings (9, 45, & 357 SIG). They seem to push the envelope with a lot of their stuff.

That's a very interesting round. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. No, I've never heard of Underwood Ammo until now so I haven't tried any of their offerings. They are certainly pushing the limits with their loads.

What's even more interesting to me is to finally see this round being produced.

Somewhere around here I have a .45 ACP lead dummy round identical to that. A friend gave it to me and asked me what I thought of it over 15 years ago. This dummy round was given to my friend by either Dornaus or Dixon, the two originators of the Bren 10 pistol, I don't recall which. The guy had approached my friend seeking an investor for developing this round.

As for the effectiveness of this round I would like to see the results with both water jugs and ballistic gel, however the notion of "penetrates better" puts me off. Over-penetration bad, total energy dump into target good.

I see that Underwood Ammo has a 9mm loading with a Speer Gold Dot 115gr. bullet that's identical to Speer's +P+ (1,300 fps/432ft.lbs.) as referenced in the OP and Underwood calls their "+P" (seems like they would want to put a warning on that round like Speer does, every box of the +P+ I got has a warning sticker). And their price is $0.62/round for that.

Their .357 Sig load using the Speer Gold Dot 125gr. bullet is definitely hotter than Speer's hottest. Gonna have to look into that further.

^ I saw that. I have been sniffing around their site for a few days. They have many different flavors to choose from to suit many needs.

I have read (I think at Glock Talk) that their customer service is excellent and that their stated ballistic info is accurate or even a tad understated!

I hope they get the 125 grain bonded JHP 357 SIG back in stock soon.

Thx for your replies. I was hoping you or someone else here had first hand experience with their ammo.

Underwood Ammo .357 Sig loaded with 125gr. Gold Dot consistently clocks over 1,500 fps in a 4" barrel.
