Price of a New .308 comes down to $598 - Warp in the Jew Gun Grab Space Time Continuum.
Basically, you use the BLEM 308 lower (BLEM means it has a scratch or something) and the upper, e.g. the 16 inch barrel rifle upper.

The AR15 / 308 family of guns reminds me of PC's, how they get customized, interchangeable parts.
I like the one with the ODG handle (Original Dark Gray) which is $329.
I recently bought an AAC Blackout, so I figured I should wait a month before buying another.
But DAMN !
I think it is remarkable that in the Chuck Schumer/ Dianne Fein ... it makes me vomitous to mention these names, I will stop there ... Era, that one can buy a working good functional semi-auto 308 for $598. with Free Shipping at certain times.
I have a feeling that these prices are going to seem low someday.

I wouldn't have bought the blackout.

I wouldn't have bought the blackout.
I wanted to experience rifle-shooting without the sonic boom but with decent power.
You get a lot more foot-pounds for your money with 5.56 or 308, though.
2400 foot pounds for about 60 cents each for Federal NATO 7.62x51.
1350 foot pounds for about 33 cents each for Federal 5.56.
with the Blackout, about 1325 foot pounds for 60 cents each.
So it's expensive shooting, yes.
It's interesting how the AR15 base can work with the different uppers - 6.8, 7.62x35 = 300 Blackout,
7.62x39, and of course the 5.56. And the "6 mm AR" -

The 6.8 and the 7.62 x 39 are the most power I've seen on the AR15 platform - about 1550 foot pounds.
I'm also looking for this specific rifle rest that was in one thread at AR15.com
Anybody know the make and model of that front rest ?

I'm leaning towards Sinclair for the base. looking at the layout. the tops looks like a Sinclair. Much newer than the base. The rear looks like an edgewood.

Yes, the rear is an Edgewood.
I was also wondering about the custom Delrin or Aluminum machined block that the butt-stock is in. Also in the front, there's a custom piece.
I like that set-up because it is as close to rock-steady as you can get.
I ordered a Caldwell rock something front rest, and a rear rest similar to the Edgewood.
I like the slope in the rear rest. By moving the gun gently forward and backward, the crosshairs lower and raise slowly.
I have been doing that with the sand-bags and the bottom of my 30 round magazine, which is often the convenient resting point.
With a bipod on the front.
I wanted something more steady for that while I learn to Sight in the Scope.

The last time I bought Tula steel case in 7.62x51 it was .45 cents a round and shoots flawlessly in both the PTR 91 and Ruger Scout

I was looking for 7.62 x 39 primers and was led to Tula that way -

What year was that - 45 cents each ? Before December 2012 maybe.

I still don't own a battle rifle and I'm still on the fence on whether I should get an AK or AR.
:(
I was looking at these though:

As of two hours ago, the price for 20 rounds is $9.99 plus tax at my local brick and mortar.

you would need a shorter clip for the 39 mm. It's hard to set up the scope when there's a 30 round mag on it !
Midway has the good (cheap) shorty 39 mm clips -

I was thinking about a 7.62 x 39 also. This one -
