EMF app for smartphone, does it really work?

I downloaded one of these apps on my smartphone to test what the EMF levels are where I sleep. I've read high EMF readings can be unhealthy.

The app "seems" to work, I got readings all around the boat within normal levels, .40-.50 mG. The meter would go slightly higher near AC appliances, my fridge jumps up to 1.0 mG.

What's really strange is I have an old digital alarm clock. That clock sets off the meter all the way up to 1.7 mG or so, a big jump. What's strange, is that I unplugged the clock, and it still sets of high readings. That leaves me baffled.

Anyone know anything about EMFs?

have you left the clock off for an extended period and tested again? It is not picking up something else? I have one with provision for a 9V battery. Never had one in it, so do not know what it does. I would assume it keeps the display running though but maybe it only holds settings until power comes back on.

You also have to make sure that the capacitors have fully discharged as well. If you still pick up EMF after that, then it's most likely something outside. Do you have a smart meter on your house? If so is it located close to your bedroom?

This is very strange, Glass. The clock has been unplugged for about 15 minutes now. The battery was removed. Right where the cord comes out of the clock, the EMF meter goes nuts. It goes from .40 mG up to 3.2 mG. An 8 times increase.

The clock has no power, it's unplugged. Can an unplugged clock still put out dangerous levels of EMF?

Nope no smart meter. This is on a boat. I have a 30 amp power connection, and almost everything runs off DC. I just recorded 3.8 mG on that unplugged clock. That's a 10 times increase from everything else. Maybe I need to get rid of this clock.

There are a few compass apps that work with my nexus 7 that are very sensitive to magnetic fields that graphs uT field strengths that are fun to play with.

Look for one called smart compass.

It's possible that if this clock has a speaker the magnet might be causing the readings. If it doesn't have a speaker I have no clue.

It has a speaker, that's got to be it. I just tested the audio stereo speakers and got high readings from them too.

Was just reading some info with these and it raises a question. Since the phone itself puts out a lot of EMF how does it detect other EMF levels. Weird stuff.

If the power lead has no earth wire then EMFs are a lot bigger/more emanating into the surrounding area.

I think it's a BS app. I don't trust these "smart" phones.

Phone works fine now. I posted and recommended this app, that was a mistake. Don't want folks to download and install something I recommended, that was bad, that is all.

I have a dumb phone, actually it is a stupid phone obamma sent me. I had to read up on your EMF app after I suggested an answer. To me smart phones are another way for .gov to track your every move. Even in business I refuse to use one. For email I still need the desktop. Things will rotate around again as they always have.

I redid my website to accommodate smartphones (from 46 pages to 5), the more I researched into the matter the more I realized that the sites mobile friendlyness makes the site fucked for desktop. Just like social media, scroll... scroll... and many sites in my industry are just fucked with dead link pages. LOL... finally in control of my own site after 15 years, took a bunch of learning and failed attempts but she is a working now bitches!
