They go back to the family of the deceased and give the treasure back. No cops. No lawyers... yet.

Bargain hunter finds hidden treasure at estate sale

It wasn't long after Emil Knodell bought a chest for $100 that he soon discovered it had a hidden drawer of treasure.
Knodell, a retired marketing director who buys antiques and collectibles as a hobby, went to an estate sale of a man who had died in Missouri City, Texas. He quickly decided to buy a chest of three drawers with a marble top that had been discounted on the third day of the sale.
"Because it has a nice marble top, I hope to use it in my dining room," Knodell, 67, told ABC News.

But when he and a staff member from Premiere Estate Sales Network tried to load the piece of furniture into a vehicle, they heard moving metal when they tipped it on its side.

Yep, BS news, probably to help boost prices of antiques and stimulate estate sales?

We're not falling for these "boy gets dumped, boy finds wealth, girl comes begging back" crazy not in real life stories anymore.

If I had been this guy, I might have looked into who the estate people were. I have been to a fair number of estate sales and what I have seen is relatives dumping everything without care. I saw old family pictures that were one-of-a-kind and family heirlooms treated like trash. Careless children and grandchildren who do not respect the value accumulated by ancestors should not be afforded more wealth. Somebody had to move that thing out of the house. They didn't care to look it over first? Yeup- I would get a scan of who these people were before I coughed up the find. What would have happened if the wood was dry-rotted? Would they have given him his money back? These sales are "as is".

Bs maybe or maybe not, but it sure is sticky and a few twists and turns.

Seems like Jeff Allen had another name Jeffery Parsons.

http://illinoistimes.com/article-15466-parsons-surfaces-in-texas,-national-media.html

And when a search for Jeffery Parson + Bankruptcy is done we get this.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Jeffrey+Parsons+bankruptcy&biw=1525&bih=743&source=lnms&sa=X&ei=3UZTVcfTH4qNyASC54GACA&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAA&dpr=0.9

But it does seem something did happen but was it staged or real ?

Things seem as clear as a vat of black paint and finding the truth is like herding a bunch of free range cats.

;)

When my aunt & uncle were clearing out my grandma's old house, there was a shed full of storage that they decided to just dump it all. My dad and I were there and among all the treasures were my grandma's sterling silverware set, with engraved names on some of the spoons. They were going to toss it in the garbage because they thought it was just an old junk set of steel forks and spoons, and then when my dad and I salvaged it, they accused us of stealing it from them. So we gave it back, then they tried to pawn it. We were besides ourselves, so my dad offered to take it to the pawn shop for them, then I gave cash to my dad and to this day the silverware set is tucked away safely, ready for me to hand down to my daughter one day.

Among the other treasures ruined were my grandma's hand painted fine china from Germany (after being dumped most of the plates and cups were cracked and broken), photo albums of my grandma & grandpa's life, and an old case of whiskey.

What I see in the photo in the op is mostly keepsakes, not a horde of PMs.

Keepsakes and mementos, worth much more to the party who stashed them there than any possible cash value. I'd feel dirty trying to profit off of that stash.

I have drawers that look like that and are pretty much worthless.

down here they would pass for antiques. They must be, they made of real wood. Perhaps we can setup an import business, can you source them? You can keep any treasure.

But you know what they say, one mans treasure is another mans junk. Should have just binned it.
