Not thinking clearly then.....but.... the pistol pictured was uploaded last year and may not have been the gun involved.... so my thread title may not be accurate.

Josh Taylor, 19, remains in a critical but stable condition in Westmead Hospital after he suffered a single bullet wound to the side of his head in Pitt Town, in Sydney's north-west, about 6.30pm on Friday.

Mr Taylor was sitting in a car outside the IGA supermarket on Eldon Street with three friends, who told police he took a gun, held it to his head and fired while playing the deadly game of chance.

The only bullet in the gun discharged and entered his head, several centimetres above his ear.

One police officer said, in a "fluke of ballistics", it was possible to survive being shot in the head if a bullet deflected off the skull. It was unclear whether this was what happened in Mr Taylor's case.

Detective Inspector Sims said police had recovered a gun from the vehicle and it was being forensically examined. Police were making inquires into the origin of the firearm, he said.

In November last year, Mr Taylor had uploaded a photograph of a handgun to his Facebook page.
"Thats redhot," one of his friends commented on the photograph, one of several on Mr Taylor's page that features guns.
"So is fire," responded Mr Taylor.

This is an image of the gun that the man uploaded to social media

Policeman says Revolver:

Detective Inspector Sims said, in his 30 years in country and metropolitan policing, he had never investigated a suspected case of Russian roulette.
"You see these things on movies and things, but I've never experienced anyone who would consider playing Russian roulette with a loaded revolver," he said.

Or as that movie line goes "stupid is what stupid does".

ok so clarifying. The picture may not be the gun. The gun was reported by Police to be a revolver. The gun used may not have been a semi auto pistol. I concluded the picture was the gun when I read the story. The man posted several pages about guns according to reports, so he may have had a keen interest in guns but not much experience.

Gun handling rules.
Rule number 1 - All guns are loaded
Rule number 2 - refer to Rule number 1
Rule number 3 - don't point a gun at anything you don't want to destroy or kill.

Maybe the detective misspoke? Honestly though, putting a semi-auto to your head and pulling the trigger is not called Russian Roulette, it's called shooting yourself in the face.

Teen still critical after Russian roulette

Sydney teen Josh Taylor remains in critical condition after he pulled the trigger on a loaded revolver in a game of Russian roulette.

As his family hold a bedside vigil at Westmead Hospital, the teen continues to fight for his life.
Mr Taylor, 19, was sitting in a car outside the Pitt Town IGA supermarket in Sydney's northwest on Friday night with friends when he suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

His mother has written of her desperate wish for his recovery.

"Come on son ...please please fight like you always have .. no words can explain how desperate we are for you to just hang on and fight," she wrote on Facebook over the weekend.

Police continue to investigate the incident and forensically examine the gun.

No event is too traumatic to not post on FakeBook.

Is it just me or would that be the LAST thing I thought to do at a time like that to post on social fucking media?

Gawd! the human race has become pathetic.

no no you have to post everything on FB. I know people who post everything on FB. Personal family photos, all the grand kids, bath time. Arguments. Fights. incitements to go and beat someone up or stalk them. All sorts and everything is acceptable. There have been examples of rapes, gang rapes, people being ridiculed when they are unconscious. I think FB brings out the very worst, but you are now dealing with a race of people that don't have any empathy for other people. It is of no regard to them at all. What their actions do or the harm caused. Does not matter. And it does not matter because there is zero down side. There are no negatives to behaving this way. The worse you act the bigger you are to the other FB people.

Bailing on FakeBook was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I just found it searching for "face blown off"

I don't know about that gif, but it's hard to feel sorry for someone when they have a self-inflicted wound.
