The dummy standing directly in front of the car in the pink shirt gots smashed during a demo of some of the new Volvo XC60’s driving features in the Dominican Republic.
The XC60 comes with Volvo’s City Safety system... which prevents you from hitting a car or any other large object in front of you at speeds under 30mph.
However......
The XC60 did not feature “Pedestrian detection” technology which is an option that cost around $3000 and uses a windshield mounted camera and a grille radar system to stop the car from hitting a moron in a pink shirt standing directly in front of it.

A truck transporting at least 2,200 baby pigs has overturned on the road in Ohio with hundreds managing to escape. Firefighters, police, ambulance and volunteers all tried to catch the little porkers.

A semi-tractor trailer carrying the animals crashed on Route 35 outside the town of Xenia, Ohio, on Monday evening. The truck, which was en route from South Carolina to Indiana, was on the westbound ramp when the driver lost control and veered into a guardrail, police said.
About 300 to 400 piglets were killed, dispatchers told local media. Meanwhile, another 1,500 of the plucky porkers were captured and then taken to the Greene County Fairgrounds.
“They’re in the woods, so I don’t think we’ll ever get all of them – I really, really don’t,” Xenia Township Fire Chief Dean Fox told WCPO Cincinnati news channel. “We’ll try as hard as we can to retrieve all of them, but we probably won’t retrieve them all.”
There were two people in the truck, One of them, the passenger, suffered a minor injury and was taken to the hospital.
Fire emergency crews, police, ambulance and volunteers are helping to retrieve the escaped baby pigs.
“The help from local farmers meant a lot,” Fox said. “If we didn’t have the farmers here with their livestock trailers, there’d be pigs every place still.”
Xenia Fire Division tweeted that “crews are chasing piglets all over the scene.”
Police officers say they worry that the remaining runaway pigs may end up as a meal for local coyotes.

Woman who claims she owns the sun sues eBay

A woman banned from selling plots on the Sun on auction site eBay has won the right to take the site to court.
Maria Duran has been claiming ownership of part of the star since 2010 when she threatened to bill solar power users.
The 54-year-old registered the star in her name at a notary office in Spain, before opening an eBay account selling square-metre plots for one euro each.
But two years later eBay pulled her listings, saying it violated its intangible goods policy and her account was blocked.
She threatened to sue, and now one Spanish court has recognised her claim.
A trial will take place next month, with Ms Duran demanding around 7,500 ($14960.73) for payments she says she has not received.
Ms Duran, from Vigo in the Spanish region of Galicia, has rejected attempt by eBay to settle the case out of court.
She continues to sell sun plots on her own website.
She says that while there is an international agreement which says no country can claim ownership of a planet or star, she is an individual and is not bound by the agreement.

I wonder, if she has claim to the surface, does this really extend to the emissions of the star? I'd see some difference between those two things that I don't think her claim covers. It would seem that the emissions of the sun are not due to the existence of a "surface" to the sun. There is no proof AFAIK that the sun has an actual surface.

As far as I can know, she would have to place permanent markers on the Sun to determine lot plans, and plot map the measurements for record. She cant simply sell a piece without marking it clearly on the field.

Watch the biker’s hands here — they tell the whole story. From the initial shock and alarm to the helpless waving, to those final gesticulations of disappointed resignation. I mean, what can you do when a student driver cluelessly backs over your motorcycle? Not a hell of a lot, as Reddit user x_ing (http://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/38xt1d/backing_up/crywe0t) learned recently.
Well, personally, I think he did pretty much all he could — that is, when he saw the clueless RAV4 barreling at his bike, he got off the bike. Many of the government-engineered supersoldiers over at r/motorcycles (http://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles) disagreed and thought he should have, you know, executed a perfect 60-inch vertical motorcycle leap or something, but, personally, I think he did the right thing, seeing as how he didn’t end up crushed along with his bike.
Here’s what he said in his own words:
Ok boys and gals. I am the actual rider in the video and will once and for all dissolve all speculations and such that to my amazement have come up so far.
We both started slowing down when the light turned orange. The red SUV ended up in the middle of the intersection. Cars seen on the right started turning left, one car actually made it in front of the stalled/frozen driver. The car then proceeded to back up - IN THE LEFT LANE - i was aware about its presence all the time. And yes I was in the 1st with the clutch in as can be seen on video (anyone see the Neutral light?). As some have pointed out, only have I noticed it changing directions a couple of seconds before impact. Yes, a rider with tens of years of experience MAY HAVE been able to sprint to the right (risking clipping the car and being at fault for running a red light into potentially left turning traffic, as the light for the oncoming lane was changing to a left turn go), but given the circumstances... the horn wouldn’t have done squat. Again, we’re talking seconds. Disbelief that the car was going to back into me was up there. I was in the dominant position for my lane (left half of the lane, where cars in the left lane have the best chance of seeing you in their mirror), watching the driver... but again... how often do you guys assume that a car will decide to reverse into your lane from a different one and floor it?
The video ends where it does because there is absolutely nothing exciting happening afterwards. The two occupants get out, we exchange remarks, and then i take the helmet off and turn off the camera. No swearing or yelling. The adrenaline pumping through my system was so high, I was kinda happy to not be under the car. The car was resting on the bike, they had to lift it to get the bike from underneath.
Yes please, all those that could’ve avoided this - I salute you and your superhuman reactions. I’m just human and did the best I could when I realized what was going to happen to get my sorry ass out of the way.
The aftermath... if I can figure out how to post pictures here I will. The driver got a ticket as it is illegal to back out of an intersection (or something thereof) and yes, because they are on a learner’s permit (can only drive supervised), they may have very high insurance premiums. And as far as the bike - it will be looked at by an insurance adjuster on Monday where I will find out what happens next.

Here’s what really amazes me about this whole thing: the student driver must have felt the car hitting and rolling over the front wheel of the motorcycle; the driver pauses there, after all. It’s the fact that the driver then keeps going and runs over the rest of the bike. It’s like the driver realized they hit the fallen bike and thought “Well, fuck it. May as well finish the job.”
