I would, but any time I have to "temporarily allow all this page" more than twice to get something to work on a site I tend to bail out. I'm going to take your word that it was amazing.

Great race, amazing horse!

It's nice to root for a sport where an animal is the star. Unlike cheering for people, or some uneducated black guy that's paid to throw/rig the game.

It's what happens in the home stretch that counts the most, that's what tests the mettle of the horse.

He did take and hold the lead after a bad start out of the gate. What a horse.

Did the bookies make out?

They said before the race, that half of all the bets were on American Pharoah.

I'm thinking you don't appreciate the aspect of some animals as outstanding and exceptional athletic specimens. American Pharoah is definitely an exceptional horse, a horse with a the heart of super athlete. For those directly involved with the horse it's definitely not all about the money, it's because they love the horse and the sport.

This video is of one of the breeders I acquired a female puppy from and some of my dogs are the progeny of this dog Jockel v. Mahuba, at 6:06 you can see why Jockel scored a 97 pronounced in the protection phase (his owner/handler Gabby is not a small woman).

My most recent imported female was sired by this exemplary dog, Zamu -

sorry but horse racing is about the money and the circus of the arena. Horses get knackered when they've run their race. Maybe 1 in 1000 might get pastured or used as a sire. I'd be surprised if it were that many. The rest are glue.

And the use of handicaps simply reinforces that it is not about the horse but about the money. Why bring a horse down to the level of it's competitors by burdening it with extra weight? To encourage others to compete and increase the pot. The fact they call it the sport of kings should tell you all you need to know about the sport and also about kings.

Sure there's a lot of people in it for the money, but I don't believe the owners and people that train/care for, these noble animals are in it for the money.

I believe the people that truly love these these animals don't put money first. The owners are already rich and the purse and stud fees are just a bi-product of winning.

It takes a lot of work training and caring for these horses. Genetics play a part too. But it's luck that a special horse comes around this seldom.
Who doesn't love to see a magnificent horse with this magic and heart, run like the wind...and win!

Of course, if it's not your bag, you can always root for guys like Lebron.

One of the best books I've ever read was Seabiscuit. The way the races are described in that book is remarkable.

Horses are noble creatures and it takes a super-extraordinary horse to win The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and Belmont in succession competing against other very serious contenders to take the Triple Crown (by 7 and 1/2 lengths at Belmont...WOW!!!).

For a much more clear perspective I suggest you read this article and watch the video -

I don't have tv but my neighbor does and he called me and invited me to watch the race. He has owned some race horses in the past. After the race and we were watching the reruns he pointed out that this horse changed from a left lead on the corners to a right lead in the straight aways. He said this is something you can't really train them to do but the exceptional horses do it on their own. He said it adds to the horses speed and endurance and probably contributed to this horses win. The horse in second place didn't change leads and didn't have the reserve to catch him. I'd like to have a horse like that to rope and doctor cows on when they need it :-).

It may seem that way on the surface but behind these horses are people , often crazy people.........I have learnt this from bitter experience............

There is nothing I hate more than horse racing and I was brought up with it ..............

People go crazy with greed ..................and will do anything including conning people out of their property............our family property in fact....................

Horses are noble creatures

It seems you live in an age that has long since past. Now these noble animals are reduced to Game of Thrones for horses where the end means glue for all but the exceptional best. No longer a beast of burden or a companion to carry you across the country side. The only thing for horses now is the dreams of young girls, show jumping, horse racing or other such circuses. Once the show is over so is the horse's life.
