I became an atheist when I was 8 years old. I was going to Catholic school at the time and literally thought I was the only person in the world who didn't believe in a god. I didn't meet another atheist until I was 13 which is when I first heard the term "atheist".

Only the extremely cold, heartless types* think that animals are not sentient creatures with a *soul* (of sorts). My critters DEFINITELY have (animal) 'souls'.

*these are generally the ones sporting bumper stickers which say something like: "God bless our troops especially our snipers"
