Walmart Stores will begin charging fees to almost all vendors for stocking their items in new stores and for warehousing inventory, raising pressure on suppliers as the world's largest retailer battles higher costs from wage hikes.
The company said it started informing suppliers about the fees and other changes to supplier agreements last week. The changes, which also include amended payment terms, will affect 10,000 suppliers to its U.S. stores.
While the chain has sometimes imposed such fees in the past, they were not applied uniformly. Some but not all suppliers were charged, spokeswoman Molly Blakeman said without providing details.
The changes are aimed at bringing "consistency to the collection of allowances related to the growth of our business and suppliers' use of the Walmart supply network," it said in a letter to suppliers, a copy of which was seen by Reuters.
The new agreements mean a larger number of vendors will likely start paying fees, passing some of the retailer's costs onto suppliers, analysts said. It was unclear how much money Walmart would receive as a result of the changes.

So the taxpayers pick up the cost for insurance and food stamps for the workers and now the vendors pay to stock the shelves. Maybe they can get the accountants to do payroll for free too. Poor Waltons are only worth 100 billion so of course they need the help.

walmart is here for you and should be considered sacred for the common masses...
Venders, staff, customers, cities, etc. should provide from their purses to support the venerable walmart.

That's a good idea. You should mention that to them. Don't expect a free cookie though if you do...
Their business model is simple. People are sheep and are fucking stupid. They will all flock to one place to save a few pennies like mindless drones. Even if they don't save money, they are so lazy and brainwashed and programmed that buying everything they have been told they need at one store, somehow they come out ahead, when in fact they don't. They sell their soul to the devil.
Call me a nutcase, but I honestly believe, you sell your soul the devil when you shop at walmart.
If you walk through that door, in a Walmart store. Fuck you, you are allowing Satan to exist, no matter how you justify your actions.

The grocery stores do similar things, they charge slotting fees, allotment charges, etc. for each running foot of shelf space. If you are a dairy company, they will charge you a percentage of what they buy from you, just to put it on the shelves.
Guess who probably doesn't have such charges - smaller places like dollar stores. Therefore more suppliers will start looking to sell to them, further hurting WalMart.

Walmart is a funny place, some things you can't beat the price on. Baby formula is one, hands down half price. We get some stuff there that isn't available elsewhere. Have to be careful because some stuff is greatly over priced. Their produce is not cheap and the quality usually sucks, almost everything is imported. I refuse to but any meat there, its also overpriced and who knows where it comes from.
