One old one that I like is from The Supreme Court from 1806 that says....."No state law is above a Federal law".....but of course, must states pretend that it does not exist.

With all respect due .... if this were the case the state flag would be flying about the federal. And while we are on the topic of flags ... the gold fringe found on them in courtrooms across the land makes them an ensign and expresses the power of the executive branch. Most people have forgotten the significance of the U.S. Flag of Peace .... all they recognize is the U.S. battle flag and care not if the executive wrapped it with its' own authority.
