Is this the Onion?

Obama Signs Executive Order Banning Confederate Flags, Memorabilia Posted on June 23, 2015 (http://realnewsrightnow.com/2015/06/23/obama-signs-executive-order-banning-confederate-flags-memorabilia/)
WASHINGTON, D.C. – During a White House-hosted dinner celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan Monday evening, President Obama, flanked by select cabinet members, announced he has signed into law an executive order banning the manufacturing, distribution, and possession of Confederate flags and other memorabilia.

“When our values are threatened, we come together as one nation,” Mr. Obama said. “As Americans, we insist that nobody should be targeted because of who they are, or what they look like, who they love, how they worship. We stand united against these hateful acts.”

The executive order is the 209th issued by President Obama since taking office and is being hailed as a major victory against racism. Based largely on Germany’s anti-Nazi laws, the order, which officially goes into effect on June 18th, makes it illegal to possess “any item or symbol bearing the sign of the Confederacy.” President Obama, calling the Confederate flag a “symbol of hatred,” compared its history to that off the Third Reich, saying, “You don’t see government buildings in Germany flying the Nazi flag, we shouldn’t have to see the Confederate flag here.”

Also included in the executive order is an amendment to 18 U.S. Code 249, allowing for any “individual or entity found to be in violation of the law” to be prosecuted under the federal hate crimes statute. Under federal law, the punishment carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years. “In light of recent events, I’m inclined to believe a ten-year sentence is far too lenient,” Al Sharpton told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer today. Blitzer, who agreed with Sharpton, said many in Washington have echoed similar sentiment.

Under orders from the White House, the Department of Justice, while working in conjunction with local and state law enforcement agencies, will, in the coming weeks, launch a nationwide operation to halt manufacturing and distribution of the soon-to-be-illegal contraband. According to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, the brunt of the operation, spearheaded by the FBI, will focus on the deep south and Midwestern regions of the U.S., “However, state and local agencies across the country are being asked to conduct their own seizures.”

In light of the new law, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, a Republican, ordered the immediate removal of a Confederate flag from the grounds of the capital building in Columbia today. “In order to stay in compliance with federal law, I have instructed officials at all local and state facilities throughout South Carolina to remove and destroy this contraband, effective immediately,” the governor said.

The executive order amends the US Code allowing any individual found to be in violation of the law to be prosecuted under the federal hate crimes statute. The punishment carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years.

Will Congress stand up against yet another usurpation of power by our Emperor-in-Training? Is this a violation of the 1st Amendment? If it is will the Supreme Court man-up and strike down the order?

Can Obama finally be impeached for this?
We don’t know the answers to those questions, they are, as Bob Dylan would have said, “blowing in the wind my friend.”
We do know one thing though. The above is satire. The scary part is we bet you got all the way to here believing it really could have happened. Right?

imagine if, every time there was a problem in the US, they just banned the Confederate Flag.

it makes them feel like they did something ... while in actuality, they are doing very little.

that sounds familiar.

Not really. Use discernment. Too many people just swallow what they hear or read. If it sounds ridiculous or outrageous, it probably is. Check! Go to the absolute original source, never second, third, fourth, or farther parties.

The 10 year minimum prison sentence was a dead giveaway.

I believe there are groups of people that are drooling to see an EO like this enacted though... you know, the cowards that live for the idea they can sick the coercive state on other people.

Banning a flag is a 2nd amendment violation.

Satire or not!

Executive orders and proclamations are directives or actions by the President. When they are founded on the authority of the President derived from the Constitution or statute, they may have the force and effect of law . . . . In the narrower sense Executive orders and proclamations are written documents denoted as such . . . . Executive orders are generally directed to, and govern actions by, Government officials and agencies. They usually affect private individuals only indirectly. Proclamations in most instances affect primarily the activities of private individuals. Since the President has no power or authority over individual citizens and their rights except where he is granted such power and authority by a provision in the Constitution or by statute. The President's proclamations are not legally binding and are at best hortatory unless based on such grants of authority. The difference between Executive orders and proclamations is more one of form than of substance . . . .[1] (https://en.m.wikisource.org/wiki/Executive_Orders_and_Proclamations#cite_note-1)

After thinking about this a bit, what if all these sites that parrot such BS are automated? I mean seriously at the link I posted all those sites have the exact same title bringing them up. This also makes me wonder if all those sites are run by the propaganda machine. About the only difference in the articles are the first and last paragraph and those differences are shared amongst others. It's like an echo in a long tunnel.
