Went to grab a package of bratwurst and the guy working there says "we got St Louis ribs cheaper than that" I said what? He says right on the other side of him. I look and sure enough full slabs for 3.50ish each. Grabbed 4 and left 2, he says don't move and went in back. He came out with a shopping cart with about 20 more and said this is all we got left. So I was grabbing a few more and he tells me I can take the whole cart LMAO. Package says use or freeze by the 17th, not a problem here. We smoke a couple slabs a month so this is pretty cool.

Haven't had a decent score in quite a while so I just had to mention it. Looks like silver went on sale while I was gone too...

Edit: Wow year lows to boot!

sounds like the ribs-Silver ratio is about ... 1 ounce of silver will pay for 4+ slabs of barbecue ? :)

St. Louis Rib
"Pork ribs, particularly spare ribs, are frequently cooked in the area. The city provides the name of St. Louis-style ribs, which are spare ribs with the sternum bone, cartilage and rib tips removed to create a rectangular-shaped rack."

So it's $3.50 a pound or even better ?

98¢ lb Guy said they have to get rid of them before the 17th. They look real good too. Slabs priced (and weight appx) at 3.54 3.46 3.57 etc. Smithfield brand. I don't usually buy meat or produce at walmart but how can I pass on this? Little over 4 slabs for an oz silver.

At my last location the local store would purchase old meat, seriously and sell it at high prices. Green steaks, green ribs etc. due to no competition in the area. If you bought burger and didn't use it that day the next day it would get thrown down the hill, that bad. Nothing had more than 2 days until the expire date. They did a neat little trick of putting pink burger on the top covering the green inside. If you got sirloin it would be loaded with water and shrink just as bad as their normal green burger.

Local store here is good, nothing remotely close to the old place. A comparable slab of ribs local here is $13.00-14.00ea. unless you want to deal with the sternum and cartilage crap, those are mid $20s.

Back at the pizza joint I used to work at, we'd occasionally get ham/pepperoni/sausage that was days from expiring, and use it up right away. The boss had a deal with the suppliers to bring him the almost expired stuff at a pretty good discount.
