Obama says they "can't afford" a simple computer and Internet connection (about $29.95/month) yet the majority of these "poor" households have an iPhone 6 or Galaxy S6 with a 5GB/month plan.

yes the internet is clearly just for porn. watch much?
Sounds like our NBN, national broadband network. Will cost taxpayers billions, already has. Steals the national telephone network infrastructure the people paid for and makes them pay for it again. It's a win win. Will also take some 20 years to get going and has been going for at least 5 years now. But everyone want's it. Mainly because we are told that we are running last for internet access and speed in the 1st world. Of course we would believe that claim, because it was on the news.
I will admit though, it is fairly quick although hardly anyone is using it as yet. It's so far only being rolled out in rich suburbs. Needs to be rolled out in commercial and manufacturing districts because those areas still have the slowest ADSL because of cost cutting (pair gain) when they rolled out the network back in the 60's and 70's.
So I wonder if it is a way that rich people will get faster internet, under the guise of it being for poor areas.

His plan is, at least initially, for public housing project residents.
Do you truly believe they will be taking online classes in Algebra and Engineering with it? At best, such government-funded and -coordinated Internet access will be used for Netflix (which offers plenty of soft porn).

Just how fast does one truly "need"? I'm in a rural area, get about 8 Mbps, and it handles Skype, streaming video, and downloads just fine. Only $50/month, including phone service, too!
People lack perspective...my first "Internet computer" had a "high-speed connection" of 33 Kbps. Ultra-high-speed Internet is useful for two things: endless, mindless "entertainment," and, government surveillance.

33kbs is pretty fast. No need for us to get into a bragging match about who had the shittiest internet speed back in the day. I'm in a central location and my internet is ADSL1 speeds even though it's a ADSL 2 service. Runs at <1mbps. This is because of distance to an exchange and the poor quality of line. You cannot make phone calls with it. You can yell until you are blue in the face but the other party will not hear you. I gave up trying to get it fixed years ago after about 4 years of beating my head against a brick wall. I did get it fixed for a couple months but the telecoms companies continually steal other subscribers lines for new services. If the designated line is noisy they will search for and swap out with a cleaner line. So I ended up back where I started from.
And yes it will be used however the getters want to use it.... just like they do with the EBT cards..... unless they put a filter on it?
Please write a letter to the people doing this and make sure they will have a filter on it.... or pipe it through the NSA. That ought to do it.... oh I forgot, the NSA/DHS have the best porn collection out there.
First you had a 'Bama phone, next you get 'Bama porn.
