View Full Version : Why did Hardened Arms Ship me this Upper ?

I had good success with previous rifles (rifle uppers + 1 lower) from Hardened Arms in 5.56 Calibers. 5.56 and 300 Blackout. 300 Blackout, the parent case is 5.56. Uses the exact same magazines.

Also I like the 'forearm' (the part around the barrel) because it fits well in a sandbag shooting rest or log, so you can sight it up.

Anyway, I ventured to buy a 7.62 x 39. I will enclose a few pictures of mis-feeds.

I just returned it. Now I wonder, why would HA sell an in-operable rifle upper ?

There's nothing to do but ask for your money back.

How do they make money on that ?

Why bother if you're making money selling 5.56 parts ?

I am mystified. :)

It wont help but I got a few magazines for my CZs and 2 gave me problems, identican in weights and measurements. I ended up sanding the edge where the bullets pop up from, have not tested them but it seemed to have a miniscule burred area there.

Three of the four pictures show the same thread or cobweb on the dust cover. This would suggest a good cleaning and lube wouldn't hurt.

might need to shake out my gear bag.

i was thinking about proposing that they allow me to do experimenting. for example -

ejection port width vs. max. case width
5.56 / .500 / .375
7.62 / .500 / .440

in other words ... the bullet grew 17% and the ejection port grew - NOT AT ALL !

so ... forget about the ejection port cover, machine .050 off both sides of the aperture through which ejected brass exits - make
that ejection port width .600.

but then i would still have the bullet galling/catching on the inside of the upper.

anyway, it burst my bubble on HA.

BUT THAT'S HOW YOU LEARN !!!

I have a Black Thorn 7.62x39 that doesnt have a problem with ejecting. Maybe I can take some measurements and compare.

Where did you get the scope mount? I'm looking for something like that. How high is it? I'm looking for something 1.25 or 1.5 inches high or anything in between.

Now THAT is a scary thought.

when a gun company ships an upper that don't work - what is their motivation ?

that customers will give up, be grateful for the bullets that DO feed, and not ask for their money back ?

that those who ask for their money back will go along with the 20% re-stocking fee ?

that way they could make money, $90 every time they ship the dog upper to a new customer.

i talked with Amex. they are on-board for a 100% refund.

i don't like having an adversarial relationship ... but sometimes you have to hang onto your money like a bulldog.

i'm thinking that the staff are telling their managers & possibly the owner to take this thing
off their website.

but that is being over-ruled by someone higher up.

"gunDriller was here" ... maybe we should scratch our names in an innocuous place, like the inside of the
tube covering the barrel, so that future owners of the intermittent barrel can see the history of their
fine firearm /sarc.

So they don't want to refund you?

I didn't sign the RMA, because that constitutes agreement to the 20% re-stocking fee.

I attached a separate piece of paper saying, I want my money back, all of it, and initialed that.

What a bunch of dicks. Now I understand what you were saying earlier in this thread.

the upper was going to cost $570, and then i found an option on their website to buy it for $448 (upgrade from a Quad Rail.)

one of the staff helped me change my order and gave me $120 credit.

the RMA form that they're using says "20% refund".

i think it's possible that the staff is generally trying to do good work.

but somebody isn't listening to somebody.

Compartmentalized.

They ended up trying to charge me $40 instead of $90 for the return.

So I called American Express to talk about the situation.

Here's a picture of 2 bullets trying to be in the chamber at the same time. Not healthy.
