Australia ready to ban cats from going outdoors
31st July 2015
Domestic cats in Australia could be banned from going outdoors in an attempt to protect native animals.

The Sydney Morning Herald says the proposals to keep cats under house arrest has been drawn up by Gregory Andrews, Australia’s threatened species commissioner.

He has argued the move would benefit not only the country’s wildlife but pet cats as well, who are happier and healthier when left indoors.

The proposed curfew is part of a wider strategy which could also see as many as two million feral cats culled.’

What is wrong with you people?

This is great news, lets hope it passes. Why?

Because when a cat is found outdoors it will be good enough reason to have it put down and maybe then we can preserve our extremely fragile marsupial and reptile populations.

Good riddance I say.

Mandatory vaccinations must be working there.

politicians treat us like animals -- so if that happens to the cats, it will just reinforce what is in the store of us.

The possum doesn't represent ALL marsupials and in fact most aren't under threat.

I have a lovely possum jumper from NZ which I adore, but we aren't talking about NZ here so your obfuscation is meaningless in this context.

Off leash cats decimate the local songbird population around here. One neighbor had close to forty bird corpses on his porch. that's when he started trapping the cats and taking them down the mountain to the animal shelter. He wasn't very popular in the neighborhood, but the final straw was when a cat pissed in his Jeep.

Legend has it that shortly after establishing themselves on the island, Tibbles started bringing dead wrens to her owner as presents, many of their bodies still in good condition despite having been killed by the cat. These little birdies didn’t die naturally.

Being interested in natural history, Lyall sent specimens off to England, where they fell into the hands of several naturalists, including Sir Walter Buller, an bird expert.

Buller recognised the bird as a new species of wren and reported the discovery to the British Ornithologists’ Union — but, alas, it was too late for the Stephens Island Wren.

Legend goes that the little birds’ population was so decimated by Tibbles’ hunting habits that the whole species went extinct within a year of its discovery.

If a cat pisses in your Jeep, there are no more rules. It's game on, at that point.

My first thought on reading this was, Feds cant do it. Not within their Authority.

Basically its a nudge article. The Australian Government purchased mind control technology from the UK after they bought it from some Socialist psychologists in France.

"The plan over the long term is to make this part of our culture, and then it becomes normalised. It's a journey that Australia has to go on," Mr Andrews said.

However the Australian Government will not be able to impose the curfew itself, it will have to persuade local authorities to implement the plans.

It is designed to change the way people think without them knowing their thoughts have been changed.

By technology we are probably talking technique.

One time I left my car window open all night and a cat peed in it.

One of my neighbors when I was a yute broke into my house, his car was open so I took a dump on the drivers seat and mashed it in with a clipboard. Good times, material seats instead of leather or vinyl.

Forcing the cats to stay inside seems to be a bit of a stretch, but what they could do is legalize semi-automatic rifles.. especially .22 lr ;)

Good, cats eat all the song birds. Keep them in doors or give them to someone who will.

One time I left my car window open all night and a cat peed in it.

He was politely reminding you to secure your vehicle. I'm sure he stood guard until morning, making sure no one messed with your car. You should personally thank him next time you see him.

Not sure how they're going to enforce this. They're going to spend a lot of taxpayer money rounding up cats when there are bigger problems to deal with. The entire western world has gone batshit crazy.

yes they will have special night patrols by the rangers who I might point out are not actually rangers, but corporate agents pretending to be rangers. we know this because all the local governments were privatised.

anyway I think the most dangerous time for wildlife is during the day from dusk until dawn. I think dusk and dawn at the too most vulnerable times and I think a curfew at those times would work well in reducing wildlife deaths due to cats. Animals water during the dusk and dawn and those times are very busy around the birdbath. Keeping a cat away during these times makes sense.

I mean lets face it, Australian fauna is VERY unique and a lot of it is threatened, it would be a real shame to lose any more species...now if we could just do something in regards to land clearing, deforestation and habitat destruction....

one cannot command nature unless one obeys it (aka natural laws) first... and when one does, one becomes co-creator with God.

the unethical/criminal human activities and fake green ideologies and social dogmas lead to decisions that wont fix the problems...

same about aussie cats
