These calls are high on my want to send a nuke at them !
;D
Most that I now answer to mess with them sound like they are in a call center in india.
Bastards !
I know I am not alone, in this here, except our members overseas.
#1 phone irritation because no call list do not phase them from calling.
Rant Off !

I usually start asking them if this is a secrete code, are you having sex with my husband, how its not right for them to be screwing a married man...Then if its a man doing the call....... he gets the same treatment! Cept, I ask him if he is a homo!
They usually hang up on me.

It got so bad that I bought a call blocker. Real simple, now have well over 100 numbers on the "black list". Yeah, the thing still rings.....once and then automagically hangs up on them. You're initially greeted by a snotty brit voice that tells you to f-off if you're a tele-marketer or robo caller. If an actual human is the caller they are given the option to press "0" to continue the process but are unable to leave voicemail until you "whitelist" the number. Best thing I've bought in ages.

Oh they still do it over seas, here they'll even text you.
Just have to be a resident, they don't want anyone who's still walkin around.

In Soylent Green the green cookies were made of mystery meat too.

from the link,
The transportation of meat should be in carcass form and not 'on the hoof' where animals can and do suffer very greatly

I almost never get an unwanted call, but when I do I simply tell them that I have to get my dad.......and then I leave the phone on the table for the next hour.......never get a repeat call.

from the link, yea !
Not good to slaughter one that is all freaked out because its bad for the meat!
It is best that the critter be relaxed and happy the instant they are sent into moo or animal heaven.
That way the meat texture and taste will be its best.

You live out in the county so it would be neat to screw with them, like stage an argument with your self using different voices where one gets pissed and then shoots the other. Take the phone outside doing this unless you do not care if you make tiny holes in your house !!
Fire off a few rounds and ether hang up or leave the phone alone, or drop it.....
Tho you may get a visit from the local pigs , checking things....
Hoot !
Down right Evil !

Right, Ponce should return the phone in 1/2 an hour and say that you've found him,
then transfer the phone back down to the table.

That is a good technique.
I'm not sure how they make money, but for sure, they have to deal with realities like,
how much money are they going to make in an hour, talking to you ?
It's not hard to make that answer really grim, for the telemarketers.
My preferred technique is to say that I'm helping out the home-owner, and I will go get him.
He is in a wheel chair and it is hard to get to the phone.
Just a minute, he is VERY particular, likes to answer all his phone calls.
You still there ? Don't worry, he's still coming, he has trouble with the U-turn in the wheelchair ramp.
etc. etc. Use up as little of your own time, keep them on the phone.
WASTE THEIR TIME - without using up more than 30 seconds of your own.
It doesn't force them to go away. But it helps ! :)

There's some good tips in this thread. One scammer almost got me. I had worked something like an 18 hour day, was 2 hours into deep sleep when the phone rang, I answered it thinking it was work calling. It was a guy, with an accent trying to talk me into lowering my interest rate on my CC. I was out of it, it sounded pretty good. When he started asking for numbers, info, the light switch turned on. The phone call did not end well. He even called back a minute later pissed off and angry. I told him he had bad customer service. He hung up after that.

We have the VOIP Ooma system for phone service. Costs us $3.82 a month in taxes. The $100/year premium service has great call blocking features. You can set it so certain numbers get an endless ring while your phone remains silent. Or give them an endless busy signal even though the line remains clear. Or give them a recording that says "this number is no longer in service". Plus, you get detailed call logs.

Register your number with the do not call list. The second call is worth 500 bucks after you tell them not to call. I've made 3700 this year in small claims court. All of it went to guns.

I am registered on every do not call list local and national.
The few calls I get here , caller id is a waste of money. If I got a bunch of these Debbi calls then I would ask if the phone co. could somehow log or trace back to them. I usually get one call maybe once a day and around the same time late morning/early afternoon.
I also think there is more than one outfit/call center are running this scam/whatever. Sometimes there is a menu choice they offered to opt out from their calls, and the more recent ones there was not that choice. Also the calls that did offer that choice but I choice to speak to them to give them hell. Every operator sounded American. The calls that did not give the opt out choice they all sounded like elephant drivers/Indians.
So I wonder if the call centers are being shut down or obeying the recent legal changes that allow them to be sued and are moving their operations overseas where us law can not touch them. >?<
