Range is only about 20 ft. and burn time is only about 30 seconds with that device.

I've helped an engineer friend build a homebrew flamethrower once using a John Deere backhoe (for the hydraulic pump and oil capacity). He was retained by a law firm to re-create a farm accident. We screwed around with some of the smaller spray tips for about 3-4 hours until he decided he wasn't getting the volume/pressure necessary (something like 1,5000 PSI and 10-12 gal/minute. Then we had a HOLY SHIT! moment when we put on the spray tip with the volume pumped out during the accident - ball of fire so big we couldn't blast it out for more than about 1-2 seconds 'cause it just kept growing (something like 60+ feet out and 30 feet high the moment we opened the valve). I learned something that day - anyone can make a badass flamethrower with a good quality power washer, like one with a 11hp or 13hp Honda engine. Just gotta use the 0 degree power washer tip and used motor oil or ATF will work just fine. Needless to say when the defendant in the case saw the video made of the simulation they quickly settled out of court, prior to that they were ready to fight it out in court (a John Deere round hay baler killed someone as a result of a fire due to a ruptured hydraulic hose)

There was a company here in orange country that was making and selling them. I can't find their website now...

BATFags get real interested in those sort of devices if they have any range/burn time to speak of.

Wabco had several hydraulic system failures on some Haulpak trucks during the 1980's. One of the hydrauliic hoses was routed too close to the turbo. The hose would fail from the heat, and instant ignition from the oil spraying onto the 1000 degree turbo. The Euclid factory rep who called on the company where I worked described the fires like what you are Saying, an instant fireball.

They are still being sold as of three weeks ago and according to BTF it is legal because they are not a fire arm haahhaahahah, I can only wonder what the fire department has to say about it.

Great question, I think of Kevlar as a type of plastic from it's characteristics. I might have some in the shop and will check.

Edit: Didn't find an envelope but this instead:
Thermal properties Kevlar maintains its strength and resilience down to cryogenic temperatures (−196 °C); in fact, it is slightly stronger at low temperatures. At higher temperatures the tensile strength is immediately reduced by about 10–20%, and after some hours the strength progressively reduces further. For example, at 160 °C (320 °F) about 10% reduction in strength occurs after 500 hours. At 260 °C (500 °F) 50% strength reduction occurs after 70 hours.[15] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevlar#cite_note-15)

Perfect application for a flame thrower!

To be practical a flamethrower needs to be able to shoot a solid stream at least 25-30 yards. First one would douse the target with liquid, then once a good coating is obtained introduce an ignition source into the stream.

I get your point but I have half ass attempts of things of this nature and mattering on the fuel used it can soak the target when lit and the flame continues to burn whatever I soaked.

Edit: The forum is just as fucked as ever, sorry for the doubts in a nother thread.

That's pretty good for a hand held device. 30 seconds is a long time to blast flames into someone's face.
