Northside ISD and the University Interscholastic League are looking into a play in which two Jay football players barreled into a referee during Friday night’s game against Marble Falls.

Late in Jay’s 15-9 loss at Marble Falls, one defensive back ran from 7 yards away into the back of an official watching a run play unfold 9 yards in front of him.

After the referee fell to the turf after the first hit, another player standing to the right of the referee and several yards away led with his helmet and dove into the official.

Both players were ejected. Northside ISD athletic director Stan Laing said the video was “very disturbing.” Laing said the district is investigating the sequence of events leading up to the play, and the UIL is aware of what happened.

“The question of what instigated that is what we’re trying to figure out,” Laing said.

bunch of ghetto mexicans getting beat by a white team -- acting like thugs before this incident happened

Marble Falls was trying to run out the clock and called for a handoff toward the left side of the line of scrimmage, according to the Express-News. The penalties resulting from the incident gave Marble Falls a first down. John Jay lost 15-9.

Before the play in which the referee was hit, two Jay players had been ejected on separate plays.

Green said John Jay coach Gary Gutierrez apologized after the game.

"I've coached 14 years and I've never seen anything like it,'' Green said.

The referee was "very upset'' and "wanting to press charges,'' Austin Football Officials Association secretary Wayne Elliott told The Associated Press.

Elliott said he was seeking guidance from the state officials association, adding, "The first thing we want is that those two kids never play football again.''

He declined to release the referee's name.

The University Interscholastic League, which governs Texas high schools sports, is working with the school district and officials on the investigation, according to spokeswoman Kate Hector.

even worse....they ejected the wrong player, letting moreno commit another flagrant

http://preps.blog.statesman.com/2015/09/06/austin-officials-blindsided-by-two-sa-jay-football-players/

To muddle matters even more, one of the players who was ejected was not involved in the play. Officialls incorrectly tossed out senior defensive back Trenton Hobdy instead of Moreno.

One play after the umpire was struck, a personal foul was called on Moreno for hitting the Marble Falls quarterback, who had taken a knee to run out the clock. Moreno was assessed a 15-yard penalty but was not ejected.

All told, four John Jay players were ejected from the game for various reasons. Two had been tossed earlier for throwing punches. Free safety Moses Reynolds was kicked out after an altercation with a Marble Falls layer. A fourth Jay player was tossed earlier for throwing a punch.

Northside ISD athletic director Steve Laing told KENS-TV in San Antonio the two players involved in the incident — sophomore linebacker Victor Rojas and senior defensive back Michael Moreno — have been suspended from the team, pending an NISD investigation.

Trying to teach thug kids not to retaliate against "authority" with violence in a language they can understand... football.

This is a morality play for the benefit of inner city yoof, methinks.
