Gunman walks up to Las Vegas cops, starts shooting into car
Police in Las Vegas had an unidentified man in custody after he allegedly walked up to a pair of officers sitting at a stoplight early Sunday afternoon and began firing into their marked SUV.
The alleged shooter, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, fired "multiple rounds" into the vehicle and struck one officer in the hand, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Sgt. John Sheahan said.
The injured officer's partner chased the suspect and caught him in the parking lot of a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store, Sheahan said. The officers didn't fire any shots, but the assailant's gun was recovered.
The injured officer, who was not identified, was taken to a nearby hospital and was reported in good condition, Sheahan said.
