People are ignoring the fact that his father Mohamed ElHassan Mohamed is an attention seeking sudanese national who has run for president of Sudan twice and has appeared on the new multiple times complaining about "Islamophobia" He even traveled to Florida to protest a quran burning and gain media attention.

This reeks of attention seeking on the part of his son who was probably given this "clock" to look like a bomb on purpose to cause controversy.

I mean what 14 year old high school studen "makes" a clock honestly, All he did from reports it take already premade LED clock parts and put them in a pencil box this is confirmed by the fact that the "alarm" on the clock went off that he didn't even know was on the device. If this was for a school project he would of been flunked. This is a scare tactic plain and simple.

But for example by his age tho iir I got my first amateur license at age 13 (1964) (old novice one year license) which I had to send and receive 5 words per minute. Plus know the the electrical formulas and math to answer the questions on the test, plus draw a working transmitter and receiver schematic. (very basic) but a working one. Plus be able to explain what each component did and why it was needed.

Getting a license today compared to the old days is a total blindfolded walk in the park. Trust me !

The nearest FCC office was in Dallas 120 miles away which my granddad (he taught me the basics) (and also it did not hurt that we had a radio and tv repair shop) that was part of the house, which I helped him as he trained me in electronics of the day and took took me to the office (FCC), failed my first try and passed the second go a round a month later.

Calculators as we know them did not exist.

The calculator was the one behind the eyes and between the ears.

And vacuum tubes ruled.

So saying that kid could not do it, is totally wrong. In many ways building digital is easier than old school analog.

Built my first transmitter from scratch, using parts from my granddads shop, had a few crystals for both the 40 meter novice band and also the 75 (80) meter bands. Just change coils along with crystals. Used 300 ohm twin lead to my antenna with a home built antenna matching tuner, Dam have not a clue how much loss that setup had, but it worked.

Coax came later for transmission line, when I got a tad richer, and also a local ham took pity on me, besides he was a friend of my granddad and the other guy in town that repaired tv's and radios, his shop was the big one in town.

Used a hallicrafters s-38 as my receiver, then upgraded by being gifted from another ham (same one ) with a vfo transmitter that he built but never used along with a better receiver, but at this time other than it was another hallicrafter I can not remember the model. Tho I still have the s-38 somewhere around here.

Now, while many reports state that Ahmed was ignorant to the fact his contraption looked like a bomb, did you catch what he said at about the one and a half minute mark? “I closed it (the box that contained the clock) with a cable because I didn’t want to lock it to make it seem like a threat, so I just used a simple cable. So, it won’t look that much suspicious,” explained the teen, who alleges that he had no idea his device could appear as anything more than a simple clock. However, that’s not the only problem with his story.

Since then, he’s been seeing lawyers (no doubt in an effort to pinch a few pennies out of whomever he can), transferred to a new school, has even been invited to the White House, and talks of MIT are in the air. However, it seems that this may be short-lived, as an engineer just blew his narrative wide open, as if it wasn’t already causing many to scratch their heads.

Posted to a blog called Artvoice, an article was written by a man named Anthony, who states that he has an Engineering degree and decided to delve into Ahmed’s invention. Kicking off his account of the matter, he writes:

I found the highest resolution photograph of the clock I could. Instantly, I was disappointed. Somewhere in all of this – there has indeed been a hoax.

Imagine that – with everything everyone has had to say, could you imagine the impact an incident such as this would have if it was all founded on a lie? Wait, it gets better as Anthony explains why he thinks this way and offers some pretty damning proof to support his theory.

“Ahmed Mohamed didn’t invent his own alarm clock,” he writes. “He didn’t even build a clock.”

Explaining that modern circuit boards are all made with the assistance of computers, Anthony notes that modern boards can and do look “like an electronic spider’s web.” However, the board in Ahmed’s clock “looks hand-drawn.” As it turns out, that’s exactly what it was, as his was created back in the 70’s when computer technology was in its infant stages, meaning that they were made by hand.

That being said, if Ahmed “invented” this clock, why would he – a 14-year-old boy – have started with a 40-year-old circuit board? Anthony further declared, “A modern hobbyist usually wouldn’t be bothered with the outdated design techniques.” However, things only get more interesting.

After turning to eBay, you can imagine his surprise to find this listing – a clock made by Micronta, a Radio Shack subsidiary, catalog number 63 756. Looks familiar right? If not it should, as there’s a good chance that Ahmed got his hands on this exact style clock and took it apart in order to “invent” his clock. This kid is a big fraud who had every liberal in America fooled, which isn’t very hard.

Lastly, Anthony was even able to find the pencil box used by Ahmed in his so-called invention on Amazon. According to the description, the box is 8.25 inches wide. On an off note, Anthony found another photo of the clock with a ruler next to it, showing that it’s about 8” wide.

Sounds like that would fit just perfectly inside of a 8.25” box, right? — Just like Ahmed’s “creation.”

In his own words, Anthony concludes, “So there you have it folks, Ahmed Mohamad did not invent, nor build a clock. He took apart an existing clock, and transplanted the guts into a pencil box, and claimed it was his own creation. It all seems really fishy to me.”

That being said, Ahmed has said since day one that he “invented” this clock, claiming it to be his own personal creation on several different occasions. Now, seeing how that’s the case, and the very foundation of his claims are turning out to be false, it can only make the logical human being wonder, what else is he lying about?

The family of a Muslim boy, who was arrested last year after taking a homemade digital clock to a Dallas-area high school, sued the Texas school district and the city where he once lived on Monday, saying they violated the teenager's civil rights.

The suit, filed in federal court on behalf of Ahmed Mohamed by his father, claims the Irving Independent School District and the city west of Dallas had discriminated against the teen because of his religion, which it said was a factor in his arrest.

The school district in a statement denied violating the student's rights and said it could provide no further comment because the matter was in litigation.

The family has previously demanded $15 million from the city of Irving and the school district.
