More Than 50 People Shot for the Second Weekend in a Row in Chicagohttps://media.zenfs.com/creatr-images/GLB/2015-09-18/77fc4e10-5dac-11e5-9db7-851a7775b2ac_86f2014a44eb8b400f7ce998353d1d7c.jpg (http://www.complex.com/) By Trace William Cowen September 29, 2015 4:45 PM

Four people were killed and 52 wounded during shootings across Chicago over the weekend. After multiple weekends in a row of increased violence in the city (http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2015/07/chicago-shootings-fourth-of-july), Chicago (http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2015/09/heroin-epidemic-midwest-chicago)Mayor Rahm Emanuel is urging a fresh and more proactive approach to gun control. The latest incidents, including the murder of a pregnant mother, come on the heels of two weekends in a row with more than 50 shootings in Chicago (http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2015/09/multiple-body-parts-of-child-found-in-chicago-park-lagoon):

At least 2,300 people have been shot in Chicago (http://www.complex.com/music/2015/07/chance-the-rapper-chicago-kids-field-trip) this year alone, according to the Chicago Tribune (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-chicago-shootings-violence-20150928-story.html). According to their analysis, that's roughly 400 more incidents than during the same period in 2014. Homicides are currently up 21 percent in 2015, with the past two weekends pointing to a noticeable increase in gun-related violence.
"Wherever you live, you should be able to get out of your car and go to your home," Emanuel told reporters on Tuesday after receiving news of the increased violence continuing on Monday evening, leaving six dead and at least eight injured. "You can say this happened in the neighborhood of the Back of the Yards, but everybody (who) woke up this morning, or heard it last night, felt a pain of anguish, and it’s time that our criminal justice system and the laws as it relates to access to guns and the penalties for using 'em reflect the values of the people of the city of Chicago."

some real good coments ... Blame guns for all the shootings and killings in Chicago?? Interesting how he quietly slips that line in there along with his mention of "values" and "economic opportunity" as factors to blame for the violence. My guns had a very quiet weekend. They did not open my safe, load themselves and go looking for grandmas, kids and pregnant women to shoot! How about some focus on the "culture" that produces individuals with the mentality to commit these crimes? How about having the balls to say it like it is? He can't bring himself to say something that might offend the "rights" of the welfare moms producing babies with as many different men as they can, who grow up fatherless, adopting the "values" that are espoused by the "shotcallers," the "homies," and the "rap#$%$" they listen to. The PC crowd would call him a racist for telling the truth. No wonder us "racists" are looking for a leader who will speak the truth, regardless of whose feelings get hurt.

These black lives don't matter to the Black Lives Matter folks. If they did there would be demonstrations in these communities against black thugery in these communities. For evil to flourish in these communities good people in these communities have to sit back and do nothing. If the police kill a black thug with a long criminal record Jesse and Al Sharpton are leading the protests. If this same thug killed 10 blacks over the space of a few days you wont hear a word from these so called black leaders. More gun laws will accomplish nothing. Heaven forbid we address the real cause of the problem. The few people that do are called racists or if they are black they are called uncle Tom's More

It's pretty much certain that the "values" of some of these people who live in Chicago is extremely low. Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the U.S. but every weekend more and more people are getting shot. Did it ever occur to this mayor that its not the guns, but the people who are using them? I've never had any firearm I've owned run out the door and start shooting anyone. We don't blame the car when ever there is an accident. So maybe the mayor should focus on the people and not the guns themselves? And I'm pretty sure those guns aren't purchased legally either. For some reason this mayor refuses to place blame where it is due, the people. Not the guns themselves.

Nothing could be more true than this. ^^ The problem will never go away until people actually start recognizing the root cause of the problem.

Jennifer and Xavier were going to help Passport 2 Freedom, a non-governmental organization, build a community center for children in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, according to the lawsuit filed in Riverside County Superior Court. They did not make the flight.

The lawsuit said she suffered burns to her left and right thighs, buttocks, and left hand, has been unable to sit for long periods, and has been permanently scarred from the burns. Jennifer Ries said she cannot get back into the Dodge Charger because it makes her recall the incident.
