Walked in on a robbery at Subway in Portland Sunday night. Girl behind the counter had her hands up while the suspect emptied the till. I casually walked over and delivered what I thought would be a knockout, but the big fella took it and the fight was on. The scrum eventually spilled outside where he popped me pretty good with a left cross and got away.

None of the cameras got a good picture of the suspects face, but the towel he was using to cover his face was left behind and swabbed for DNA. White male, 6feet, 190lbs, blond hair.

I was able to recover the money and the owner was nice enough to give me the tape for my Liveleak friends. Not one "Worldstar" was uttered that evening! Enjoy and stay safe!

I appreciate his efforts, but he fights like a nigger. Probably 2-3 opportunities to knock the robber out before they went off screen. Not to mention would have been easy to blow his brains out if he had been carrying a piece. Also bad camera placement by the stores owner.

Sure hitch, it only shows me that he fuck up by loosing the perp, hope there are better cops out there......but I don't think so......cops are "brave" when it is a civilian without a gun that they can shoot.

There was no gun in this situation. Two men, going toe to toe.

It was a fight. The winner is the guy left standing. Yes the perp runs away. You don't always catch the bad guys, but if you can go home at night, you've won.

That off duty cop stopped a robbery. He recovered the lost money. You have anything bad to say about him? Let's hear it.

I figured it was just an average Joe, a man, an American man, who, when facing a dangerous situation that can be harmful to others, responds to protect.
He is not worried about himself, or the odds against him. He thinks quick and responds accordingly. Win or lose, he is the true hero.

Not all off duty cops carried concealed, I didn't most of the time. Besides, it was a fair fight. No need to bring in a concealed weapon if it's not needed.

Personally, I would have grabbed an arm before trying a knock out punch. If you get an arm, and your feet are right, you've got the guy.
