Wouldn't necessarily call him one of the worlds best pilots. Its just a routine flight. Most people who are in that circuit of airshow performance can do that. Not a biggy. Its not even a big deal that he is a commy russian....who really cares?

Regardless if you're a stunt airshow pilot to awe the crowd a half a mile up in the sky.
Ever see a plane/s sky on water?
Now theres some nerves of steel with no room for error....not even error for a surprise gust of wind to deal with.

There was an airshow at the municipal airport last month. I couldn't make it but I did get to see two P38s bank over the house. I always run out to the deck when I hear something other than 152/172s, like the Beechcraft Starship the other day.

The truth is that ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about aviation acknowledges that Jurgis Kairys (one of the engineers on the Su-26, Su-29, and Su-31 design teams) is absolutely one of the best pilots in the world. Furthermore, even those who have never heard of him, upon realizing Kairys' skill, expertise, and accomplishments will readily admit, "Indeed, Jurgis Kairys is one of THE best pilots in the world."
Jurgis Kairys: "(Six inches) is as close as I can manage to get my vertical stabilizer to the water, I've never been able to get closer."

Kairys knows exactly where the limits are of the plane he helped design, probably better than anyone, and he takes his Sukhois right to the limit -

Still...........its all routine show business.
Nothing exceptional.
Any navy pilot can become a Blue Angel as that close flight routine is standard for all pilots to execute....again no big deal!
