Good thread idea. I said I would dig up the two I had and post names of. Both are SAS handbooks.
The handbook of the SAS and elite forces. Paperback. Author: Jon E Lewis
This one is more focused on techniques for deployment, chute drops, how to arrange camp, suggested layouts, weapons maintenance. All mission focused. interesting as it includes some techniques, maneuvers and so on.
SAS survival handbook. Paperback. Author: Lofty Wiseman
This one is focused on field survival. Individual shelters, fire, trapping, ideas on where to get resources. First Aid. Building rafts, log cabins.
This book is regular paperback size but is very heavy. paper has some kind of coating on it. It has more info, especially for solo type survival so I would pack it over the other one BUT it's heavy and that would be annoying. The ideal thing would be to know it back to front.

Yep. Good topic. My 2 cents
1. Carla Emery THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF COUNTRY LIVING
2. Storey's BASIC COUNTRY SKILLS A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO SELF-RELIANCE
