When it comes to meeting the constitutional requirements to seek the nation’s highest office, Donald Trump appears to have all the boxes checked: He’s older than 35; he’s a natural born citizen, and he’s lived in the U.S. longer than 14 years.
But Secretary of State John Kerry has just introduced another qualification for the presidency, and it’s one that Trump doesn’t meet.
Although it’s not mentioned anywhere in Article 2 of the Constitution, the ability to accept the yoke of leftist groupthink is now a prerequisite for seeking the presidency. Specifically, all candidates must believe in — and confess their belief before Gaia and her followers — man-made climate change.
According to NBC’s Andrea Mitchell (https://twitter.com/mitchellreports/status/656491660881371136?ref_src=twsrc^tfw), Kerry commented to her Tuesday that Trump, as well as others who make fun of global warming, aren’t fit to run for executive office.
From Downtrend (http://downtrend.com/brian-carey/john-kerry-trump-disqualified-from-office-because-he-denies-global-warming):
Secretary of State John Kerry only wants people serving in government who subscribe to his particular flavor of environmental mythology.
Today, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell tweeted out the following: “.@JohnKerry to me re @realDonaldTrump & climate change deniers: they disqualify themselves from high public office with those statements”
Kerry’s statement is a response to a tweet issued by the Donald yesterday in which he noted that it was cold and “we could use a big fat dose of global warming!”
Remarkably, Kerry isn’t the only one who bit. “… Trump’s mocking got a harsh response from liberal media outlets,” The Daily Caller (http://dailycaller.com/2015/10/20/sec-kerry-says-trump-disqualified-from-office-because-he-denies-global-warming/) reports. “The liberal site Mother Jones ran with the headline (http://www.motherjones.com/blue-marble/2015/10/donald-trump-rhymes-with-ronald-grump) “Donald Trump Still Does Not Understand How Seasons Work” and The Washington Postdeclared (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather-gang/wp/2015/10/19/no-donald-trump-the-existence-of-fall-does-not-disprove-global-warming/), “No, Donald Trump, the existence of fall does not disprove global warming.”
Trump’s tweet (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/656100109386674176) was a joke about the unseasonably cold weather that’s moved into the eastern U.S. — and it was also an obvious invitation to Democrats to stick their necks out for some Internet trolling.
Whatever you may think of him as a candidate, Trump has shown that there’s another way to play the political game — and it’s one that subverts every convention and unwritten rule about how the political class is supposed to behave within its own ranks.
We just hope Kerry’s comment doesn’t convince The Donald to drop out of the race because, suddenly, his views have rendered him unqualified.
