The Los Alamos National Laboratory protective force contract that was awarded to Centerra Group, LLC Sept. 11 has been formally protested by SOC, LLC, the incumbent service provider.
"There is a protest," said SOC Los Alamos General Manager Jack Killeen today. "The lawyers are working on it."
Contacted about the protested contract, a laboratory spokesperson said he had no information.
At this point, Centerra, the company with the winning proposal has begun a transition process to take over protective services at the laboratory Dec. 1.
"I was told about the protest," said Paul Spain, the general manager of Centerra Group. "I haven't seen it."
SOC, formerly Protection Technology Los Alamos, has held the contract for more than two decades. Centerra, formerly known as Wackenhut Services, Inc. holds a number of protection services contracts across the nuclear weapons enterprise, including Savannah River Site, Sandia National Laboratories, Nevada Test Site and a partnership at the Hanford Site in Washington State
