A Wilkinsburg teenager who authorities say threw gasoline on a Wilkinsburg High School security guard with intent to set him on fire last month had her charges withdrawn today.

Imani Lorrainne Knight-Brantley, 16, was charged Sept. 21 with aggravated assault, causing or risking a catastrophe, possession of weapon on school property and recklessly endangering another person. Her case was transferred to juvenile court, and she will be placed in Shuman Juvenile Detention Center.

Officials said Imani had been suspended from school Sept. 18 for undisclosed reasons. On Sept. 21, the day she was scheduled to appear for a disciplinary meeting, officials said she brought a 2-liter soda bottle and a lighter to the school and confronted school security officer Brandon Murray.

Imani was placed in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bond following her Sept. 22 arraignment with District Judge James Motznik.

Judge Motznik also ordered her to be seen by the Behavior Clinic at the jail and that she have no contact with the Officer Murray or with Wilkinsburg High School.

Then the next day, on Tuesday, shortly before going back inside the apartment at 2 p.m., Young doused herself with rubbing alcohol.

“I didn’t know that the fumes were so ignitable,” she said. “Had I known that, I would not have doused myself before going into the apartment.”
Before going inside, she prayed and hoped this attempt would work once and for all.
Then she opened the door.
The room was like a sauna. The walls were hot to the touch. Young began pouring alcohol on the floor, one section at a time.
She turned to get another bottle and was pouring close to the oven, when she turned around and saw the floor was on fire. It was the section where she was standing. Her boots were on fire, and so was she.




I'm sure she doesn't mind that much, it's not like she burned down her own property or anything. She'll just find anther place to live and hopefully her stupidity won't result in the destruction of her next rental.
