A lot more media control today with television, music, and internet distractions and propaganda. All three have been slowly eroding morals for decades now to the point that most the population has either no idea or a very skewed version of one. Too many people hooked on bullshit to actually READ and research the goings on through history. Also the melting pot has created a population that doesn't see itself as a whole being targeted. I really think most of western civilization will slowly sink off into the dark ages. No big revolution/apocalypse/etc. Just a future of agents working for the beast implementing new controls through electronic chains.
