Detroit — Police are looking for a suspect who was dressed as a security guard and stole several bags of money from the back of an armored truck outside the Greektown Casino early Friday morning.
According to a police source familiar with investigation, more than $500,000 was taken in the incident.
According to the Detroit Police Department, the larceny of a Loomis Armored vehicle occurred at 8:15 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Beaubien and Monroe.
“The suspect approached the back of the vehicle, took bags of money and fled,” Officer Jennifer Moreno said. “There were no injuries, and the incident is under investigation.”
Police had no description of the suspect but are reviewing security camera footage.
“At this time, it looks like the suspect just walked away,” Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt said. “He didn't have a getaway vehicle.”
No gun was brandished during the incident.
Jill Washburn, director of media for the Detroit office of the FBI, would only confirm that the agency was taking part in the investigation.
