Lately I haven't been looking at things in terms of the traditional liberal vs conservative paradigm. I haven't seen anyone else frame it like this, but I think other people think this way too:

Things are mainly polarized in two different types of behaviors: feminized vs masculine behaviors.

Feminized thinking is basically helplessness and fear. Extreme emphasis on thought control. Why? Because feminized people are totally dependent on the behavior and actions of masculine people. Feminized people have no power to make things happen in the real world. They have no personal power. Anyone who would rock the boat and "make things happen" is dangerous and a threat. Because what actually happens they have no control over, and they could be the victims, because again they are powerless. So there is a lot of political correctness, a lot of backbiting, stopping microagressions and any type of dangerous thought.

Masculine thinkers however don't view the world in terms of their relation to other people. They view the world in terms of objective things that happen in the world.

Feminized groups will tend to attack or suppress weak masculine groups or individuals. Other stronger masculine groups will also tend to dominate the weaker ones.

The question about what does it make Trump when both sides attack him in my view is not explained by his conservative or liberal beliefs, but rather more about his masculine behavior and the fear it causes in feminized individuals, which is compounded by the masculine individuals trying to take out a competitor.
