Gamer sues Bethesda after losing his wife and job to ‘Fallout 4’ addiction

No matter how much time you’ve spent with Fallout 4 since it launched last month, it probably hasn’t had as big of an impact on your life as it has one gamer’s from Krasnoyarsk, Russia. According to a report from RT, the 28-year-old man is suing Bethesda, the developer of the game, for 500,000 roubles ($7,000) after losing his job and his wife.

He says that he didn’t know the game would be “so addictive.”

Apparently, after seeing an advertisement for the game, the man decided to download it and spend a few hours playing over the next few days. Those days quickly turned into weeks, and after missing several days of work, he was fired from his job. His friends stopped hearing from him, his sleeping and eating habits deteriorated and his wife left him.

“If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it. I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays,” the man said in a statement.

Although there have been similar cases around the world in the past, this is a first for Russia, so the law firm representing the Fallout 4 addict is going to “see how far we can go regarding this case.”

It literally is that good.

I mean there's a gun that shoot Nigger babies that explode in nuclear explosions.

He only values his wife and job for $7000? That's not saying much about his wife, or his job. Russians have a great sense of humor, apparently. I wonder how he broke that down, job $6000, wife $1000 in value?

Obviously a false flag law suit designed to sell more copies of Fallout 4 as heroin to gaming addicts...

Not Fallout. It's more of a survival post-SHTF game with RPG elements. You have to constantly do supply runs for your settlements and defend them along with your settlers. You're thinking a game like Beyond Two Souls.

I remember that pinball game from the old arcade days. That one was the best ever, what fond memories. No Fallout4 geek computer game can compare to those old pinball games.

If I win the lotto, I'd like to build a huge man cave someplace. I'd have the xenon pinball game, a poker table, pool table, shuffleboard, and bar with several beers on tap. You'd all be welcome, of course.

We had pong as well. That was great, until Atari and space invaders came out. Remember asteroids? What a leap in technology.

Somewhere boxed up in storage, I've got an old pong set up. Probably still works too. That will be added to the man cave.

That one had magnets under the board, if you really got it rockin the magnets would raise up and effect the ball so that it'd move almost sideways on the board. They'd be centered to try and force a drain.

I can't comprehend the fascination with games. They bore me to tears.

To each his own. My siblings find video games boring, but I love them. To me finding and playing through an epic game is on par with reading great literature or watching great film. It's entertainment, it has it's place, and I don't let it control my life, but it is very enjoyable.

I'm hoping for a copy of Fallout 4 for Christmas, my wife knows I've been wanting to play this one. I better not show her this article huh... :)

This was our favorite. We used to skip school and go to the arcade at the Mpls/St Paul International Airport.

You might get a copy, but it isn't a complete copy of the game. You got like 50 gigs to download from steam. 1st 5 gigs are on the disk.
