Butchers kill dogs by stunning them with hammers and strangling them with their hands. The animals hang for sale on hooks after being grilled with blowtorches.
The consumption of dog meat has become increasingly controversial in China in the past five years, with many animal campaigners fiercely protesting the practice.

Dog meat is regarded as good for the health in ChinaThe annual dog meat festival in Yulin, south-west China, sparked uproar among animal rights activists this year, where about 10,000 dogs were slaughtered to mark the beginning of summer solstice.
Wendy Higgins of Humane Society International said: "It's safe to say that once again the Yulin authorities certainly felt the pressure of both domestic and international protest.
"They ordered all Yulin restaurants to remove tables from outside their premises and, for the second year running, they also told them to reduce dog meat dishes.

Eating dog meat is a tradition in China"We didn't see big public displays of mass dog meat eating, and that's an indication of a recognition that this is an unacceptable sight and likely to lead to conflict and further criticism."
An online campaign to ban the festival has been signed by more than 3.8 million people so far and has attracted considerable support from celebrities abroad.
The tradition of eating dog meat dates back four or five hundred years in China, South Korea and other Asian countries.
China has no animal protection law regarding the consumption of dog meat but many legal experts have argued the festival is illegal.

I dont like the idea of eating mans best friend, but they are different ..... I think its India that they wouldn't think of eating a cow and we butcher the hell of of them, and have a good steak !

I would hope that they would kill them quick and painless , but lots of people aren't like me.
