According to Facebook, the latest homicide victim in the 65 percent black city of Baltimore went by the name Robbie.
Robert Ponsi was 29 years old and until yesterday (January 9th), he lived as one of the white minority in the majority black city (http://stuffblackpeopledontlike.blogspot.com/2014/02/what-is-life-like-for-white-minority-in.html).
Today, he is dead.

Robert “Robbie” Ponsi: Murdered by two black teenagers (with police searching for more black suspects) as he rode his bike on a Saturday night in Baltimore
Antwan Eldridge and Daquan Middleton, 17 and 16 respectively, stabbed him to death as he rode on his bicycle.
Two black teenagers stabbed Robbie to death at roughly 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night, though police in Baltimore are looking to identify more suspects (who will all turn out to be black males who may or may not have spent time at the Freddie Gray Youth Empowerment Center (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/freddie-gray/bs-md-ci-freddie-gray-youth-center-20150612-story.html)).
Inevitably, Ponsi’s family will denounce anyone attempting to merely point out his murder was yet another black-on-white homicide in the city of Baltimore, for in their eyes a far worse crime than murder would have been committed if anyone developed a hint of racism over Robbie’s murder.
The facts are simple, though: multiple black people, including Antwan and Daquan, murdered a white, bike riding server in a city where only two years ago black people murdered a white bartender.

Surge in US violent crimes during 2015 (photo by Reuters) The US Federal Bureau of Investigation says there was a surge in violent crimes such as murder, robbery, and rape in large US cities in the year 2015.
"All of the offenses in the violent crime category — murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape… aggravated assault, and robbery — showed increases when data from the first six months of 2015 were compared with data from the first six months of 2014," said the FBI semiannual report (https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/fbi-releases-preliminary-semiannual-crime-statistics-for-2015) on crime statistics released on Tuesday.
According to the report, the number of rape cases increased 9.6 percent, murders rose 6.2 percent, aggravated assaults upped 2.3 percent, and robbery offenses surged 0.3 percent.
The report further noted that increases in violent crime rates were reported in cities of more than one million people and in all city groupings, except those with populations of 50,000 to 99,000 and 500,000 to one million.
It added that in the property crime category, burglary offenses dropped 9.8 percent, and larceny-theft offenses decreased 3.2 percent in the first six months of 2015. Only motor vehicle theft showed an increase of 1 percent.
As for the arson offenses, there was a 16.4-percent decrease in non-metropolitan counties and a 4.7-percent decrease in metropolitan counties.

Just 10 days after the killing, Hoover police announced charges against 16-year-old Charleston Everett Wells.
He is currently in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on charges related to a stolen Ford F-250 pickup and several car break-ins and is awaiting transfer back to Jefferson County.
A murder warrant against the teen, who up until recently attended Bessemer City High School, was signed just after 10 a.m. today and Wells' arrest was announced this afternoon in a joint press conference held by The Hoover Police Department and The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office in Bessemer.

A man was shot to death early this morning when he was leaving his Hoover home to go to the gym.
Authorities identified the victim as 33-year-old Jonathan Michael "Mike" Gilotti, a husband and a father of two sons. It's possible, authorities said, he encountered someone who was responsible for a rash of car break-ins overnight in the Lake Cyrus community.


“This is what they do. They steal cars, they break into cars, they use drugs, they sell drugs. It’s their lifestyle. It’s what they do,” Rector said. “In this case they obviously took it one step further, and we’re not going to stand for it. We’re not going to tolerate it until all of them are brought to justice.”

Rector said they are looking into three other suspects who appear to be in the 16 to 20 year old age range.
“We’re seeing young people committing extreme acts of violence,” Rector said.
Wells attended school at Bessemer High School, the District Attorney’s office said.

A 60-year-old man from suburban Illinois was killed during a store robbery in northwest Indiana early Wednesday morning.
The robbery happened just after 4:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at 6031 Hohman Avenue in Hammond.

A man entered the store and tried to rob it before firing shots, striking the 60-year-old store clerk from Blue Island twice, according to Hammond Police.
The clerk, identified as Roger Unton, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect fled the scene and is still at large, police said. A detailed description of the man was not immediately available.
Unton's wife said he had been working for the midnight shift for the last 10 years.



"I'm sure that's what happened last night," she said. "But somebody got the better hand of him."
Unton was described as a passionate man who loved life. He was involved with the Sons of the American Legion and loved to garden, his family
"He's always been there for me," Patti Unton said. "He helps everybody."

OKLAHOMA CITY —A published report says the suspect in a bank robbery in which the president of the Bank of Eufaula was fatally shot had been released from prison by mistake. The suspect, 39-year-old Cedric Lamont Norris, died during a shoot-out with police following Thursday's bank robbery. Records indicate that Norris had been released from a Texas prison in March 2012 although he still had to complete 60-year and 10-year prison sentences in Oklahoma. The Oklahoman reports that Norris was arrested in Dallas in February 2005 after jewelry store robberies in Oklahoma and Texas. He was moved in December 2005 to Tulsa County and then Creek County for trials. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a Tulsa jewelry store robbery and 60 years for a robbery in Sapulpa.

No officers were hit, but they wounded Legrand and captured him. A psychiatrist wrote in September that Legrand was attempting to commit "suicide by cop" when he shot at the officers. When the man saw police, he fled back into the store and took two employees as hostages, according to the criminal complaint. The area went into a lockdown while officers tried to make contact with the suspect. Police eventually spoke with him via telephone just before 11 p.m. The man then surrendered and was arrested. He was identified by police as 37-year-old Benjamin Elmer Flanders of Minneapolis. Police also say they recovered a silver BB gun that replicated a handgun.

After saying "No" the first time, she finally accepted. But then, they passed up her house. "She was told you don't get any ride for free. Then she felt some sharp object across her neck." They then took her to some gravel road off of Mockingbird Lane. The suspects' arrest report said they allegedly took turns raping her, then tried choking her and left her for dead on the side of the road. "The lady at one point in time had fought back until she blacked out waking up on a gravel road with her clothes off of her." So the case went cold till Nov. 2015 when BRPD got some new information. "We asked the crime lab to look at this evidence again, which the match came back on Leighton Hills and Allen Causey." When the DNA allegedly linked the two suspects, they were both found already behind bars.

According to the Rudd’s wife, they were awakened by a noise at their front door which resulted in the door being forced opened. Rudd’s wife was not injured in this incident. "She and her husband were in the bed and heard some sort of noise at the door,” said Captain Van Jackson with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. “It woke them both up and when they went to see what was going on they discovered two masked men inside the home, and we know for sure one was armed with a handgun."
Sheriff Jones says Rudd was armed and exchanged gunfire with the suspects and possibly wounded one of them before they fled. A short time later, investigators say a man, later identified as Wiggins, had been shot and also showed up at the ER.
Prior to the home invasion at Rudd's home, at 8:30 p.m. CST on Monday, the sheriff’s office received a call from an elderly woman on Lee County Road 390 in the same general area reporting a burglary at her home. According to police, she stated that she heard a noise at her door. When she went to the door, a suspect kicked the door in and came into her residence. She struck the intruder with her walking stick several times and the suspect fled the scene. She described the suspect as a tall, thin black male. Today it is “racism.” This change is significant, and a close look at the reasons behind it reveals to us, in starkly simple terms, the fundamental nature of communism and the true motives of its promoters.
The switch in emphasis from anti-fascism to anti-racism is not the only major change in the communist image which has taken place in recent years, of course. Long gone are the soapbox haranguers with the Yiddish accents who in pre-World War II days exhorted the workers to cast off their chains. Today their sons and daughters in the so-called “New Left” are on an entirely different tack.
Americans Wouldn’t BiteAmerican workers, even during the most difficult periods of the nation’s history, were never desperate enough or stupid enough to swallow the lie that they could come out ahead by exchanging their capitalist chains for communist chains. Instead, they strived to make their capitalist chains more tolerable.
Through aspiration and diligence they succeeded in large measure, many even becoming mini-capitalists themselves. To be sure, inflation has recently made the American worker’s effort to maintain his standard of living akin to the hopeless task of Sisyphus. A lot of hard work and a little common sense have, nevertheless, remained a more appealing formula than any Marxist doubletalk about “expropriation” or a “dictatorship of the proletariat.”
Black RecruitsThus, the majority of the White American working class was long ago written off by the Marxist planners as an impossible bunch of rednecks and reactionaries, even though lip-service is still paid to the old goal of “workers’ solidarity,” especially in some of the redder unions. The Reds began looking instead to the growing masses of non-Whites in American cities as the proper raw material for their revolutionary army.
The Negroes in America have always been a factor in communist plans, but World War II was the real watershed between the former emphasis on White workers and the beginning of a gradual shift to non-Whites—a shift which has become completely obvious only in the last year or two.
As early as 1912 Israel Cohen, a Marxist living in England, wrote in his A Racial Program for the 20th Century that the growing Black population of America should be regarded as the key to the delivery of the Western Hemisphere into communist hands, but for many years Cohen’s plan was kept on the back burner.
Promiscuous FecundityDuring World War II, however, the slow migration of Blacks from Southern farms to industrial cities all over the country was given a great impetus. Many American cities which were nearly all-White in 1941 have become predominately Black—or, at least, predominately non-White. Not only the urban migration, but increased immigration from the Caribbean and the darker areas of Latin America and an astounding non-White rate of reproduction, encouraged by a welfare system which rewards promiscuous fecundity, have resulted in the color shift in America’s cities.
Inferiority Is EssentialThe precondition for any successful communist activity is a society containing at least one recognizable category of people obsessed by a feeling of inferiority. The first task of the communist cadres is to transform that feeling of inferiority—whether it stems from artificial, class divisions or from natural, biological differences—into resentment and hatred of all those who do not belong to the inferior category. That hatred then becomes the driving force of a movement to destroy society’s superior elements, since they are, by communist reasoning, responsible for the inferiority of the others: without superiority there can be no inferiority.
America’s White workers, though often recognizing that they were being unfairly used, never really felt, as a whole, that they were irreconcilably inferior to those using them. Furthermore, they preferred to remedy in their own way whatever inequities they felt, without the help of any outsiders as their self-appointed leaders.
America’s non-White minorities—especially the Blacks—are in a fundamentally different position. What can they do to salve their feeling of inferiority? Racial integration has only made it worse.
When they attended all-Black schools and lived in all-Black communities, they certainly were not pleased by the contrast they could see between White America’s standard of living and their own. But that resentment was nothing compared to their feelings now, when they are forced each day to compete with the Whites, in the schools, on the job, and in the marketplace.
No More ExcusesAll the old excuses for an inferior status no longer yield any comfort. When Whitey, in his big, fine house across the tracks, could be blamed for holding the Black man down, there was some solace. But now, with all Whitey’s barriers down and the Black man still unable to compete on an equal basis, a much deeper sense of inferiority is turning resentment into a raging, bloodthirsty hatred.

Embarrassing PreponderanceDuring the 1960s the Students for a Democratic Society and other New Left organizations were largely Jewish in makeup. A heavily Jewish leadership made a strong effort to build a mass communist movement of alienated young Whites on university campuses and in the “street” communities of young dropouts.
The White response was marginal, however, and SDS and the other groups ended up with a rank and file which displayed nearly the same embarrassing preponderance of Jewish faces as the leadership cadres. Thus, for example, when the Ohio National Guard opened fire on a group of leftist rioters at Kent State University on May 4, 1970, three out of the four students killed were Jews—and the fourth was an ROTC student not participating in the riot who was accidentally hit by a stray bullet
New Plans, New Faces, New EnemyThe American pullout from Vietnam gave the New Left a chance to withdraw temporarily from the field of action and make new plans. They are back now, and they have both a new set of faces and a new name for the enemy.
The new faces are black and brown and every shade in between—even a few red and yellow ones—and the enemy’s name has changed from “imperialist military-industrial complex” to “racist ruling class.” The same Jews, of course, are calling the shots.
The reason the enemy must be smashed is no longer because he is waging an imperialist war in Indochina but because he is oppressing the non-White workers of America.

The rhetoric of SDS and other Red groups now relates nearly all their old, standard, bread-and-butter economic issues to a racial theme: members of the ruling class in industry and business are holding non-Whites back from the best jobs and from promotions; in the armed services the military branch of the ruling class is giving Blacks the hardest work and the most dangerous missions and punishing them more severely than White transgressors for breaches of military discipline; ruling-class administrators and professors on the campuses are conspiring to keep non-Whites from enrolling and to keep those who do manage to get in from getting good enough grades to graduate to top-paying jobs. And, of course, it is racist members of the same, hated ruling class who run the government and are conspiring to deprive Blacks, Chicanos, Indians, etc. of welfare payments, health benefits, food stamps, subsidized housing, and human dignity

Intimidated PublicAlso essential to the Reds’ success is the passive collaboration of a thoroughly intimidated general public–all those who are afraid to oppose them because they don’t want to be called “racists,” just as a few years earlier they were afraid to be called “reactionaries” or “fascists” for standing up for what they believed.
Nowhere is the new image of the New Left more forcibly displayed than on America’s college campuses. No longer is the SDS burning campus ROTC buildings; now the fire is being concentrated on “racist” administrators, professors, and textbooks.

Campus Jews pin yellow Stars of David on their clothes and dust off all the tired, old concentration-camp stories about Nazi medical experiments and gas chambers.
Leaflets are mimeographed, bomb threats are telephoned to the administration and to the group sponsoring Shockley’s visit, anti-racist rallies are held, and, on the day of the scheduled lecture, picket lines are set up around the auditorium.
The Reds pack the hall with their fellow travelers, while roving gangs of Negro athletes threaten other students who try to get inside. When Shockley attempts to speak he is drowned out by shouted obscenities and chants of “No free speech for racists!”
Spineless OfficialsDr. Shockley, of course, understands the necessity of such confrontations for provoking the Reds into playing their whole hand, and he perseveres. Others are not so bold, however. On campus after campus spineless administrators cave in to demands to cancel Shockley’s speaking engagements and to ban the use of biology, psychology, and sociology textbooks which even hint at the facts of race.
Ironically, many fellow travelers have also found themselves targets of the Reds’ wrath. In order to draw fire one does not have to pose any substantial challenge to the equality myth; it is sufficient to suggest that perhaps IQ tests may still have some value, or that “racist” books should be ridiculed but not burned, or that there may be certain biological differences between Blacks and Whites.
Reaping the WhirlwindA nutrition research laboratory was wrecked by Reds on one campus because the “racist” director of research insisted on maintaining that there are genetically based differences in nutritional requirements between Negros and Caucasians. It didn’t help a bit for him to protest, “I’m not a racist; I marched at Selma!”
At Temple University, in Philadelphia, English professor Dr. J. Mitchel Morse has been under attack as a “racist” for writing a textbook which describes Negro ghetto dialect as inferior to Standard English. His thesis is that Negroes should be taught to speak, read, and write exactly the same as Whites. For this, his classes have been disrupted by SDS members and the Temple University administration has been presented with demands that he be fired.
Morse has angrily remonstrated with SDS hecklers, “How dare you call me a racist when I’ve been an anti-racist all my life?” But the heckling and disruptions continue.
The Streaking ConspiracyThe New Left now interprets virtually every social phenomenon in terms of “racism”—even streaking. The March-April issue of New Left Notes (published by SDS) has an article titled “Streaking: Bosses Exposed” which concludes that streaking is the product of a conspiracy by the ruling class to divert students’ attention and energy away from the fight against racism.
The immediate goal of all this New Left activity is twofold. First and foremost is the campaign to organize the non-Whites of America into a revolutionary political force which can be used to destroy the White “ruling class.”

The New Left’s demands for open admissions (no grade requirements) at colleges, for the abolition of examinations and course standards, and for the stamping out of other forms of supposed “discrimination” against non-Whites, both on campus and off, are winning the hearts of those who see every one of White society’s criteria for quality or efficiency as an obstacle designed to keep them “in their place.”
The StickAt the same time the Reds are convincing them that communist revolution is their only hope for attaining full “human dignity.” Not only does the ruling class want to hold them down, but even the liberals are racists at heart. This is the New Left’s reason for making seemingly preposterous demands which they know that not even the most guilt-ridden liberals can go along with.
The second aim of current Red activity is the intimidation of all potential opposition. It is here that the fellow travelers play a key role.
They are the priests and ministers who piously sermonize about the equality of “all God’s children”; the schoolteachers who consciously promote the myths that Negroes discovered the North Pole, played leading roles in the American War of Independence, were the first heart surgeons, and helped win the West; the advertising executives who design TV commercials portraying a bright and carefree world of racial integration and consumer luxury; worst of all, the public officials—America’s elected and appointed “leaders”—who cheerfully lead America down the steep, one-way path to national and racial suicide, because that’s where the media support and the big campaign contributions are.
These people are not card-carrying communists—neither are most of the kids who sign their names to anti-Shockley petitions when he is scheduled to speak at their schools—but they very handily do the Reds’ public relations work for them.
A New United FrontThe Reds and the neo-liberals have formed a coalition against White America which is far more effective than the old United Front against “fascism” ever was.
The atmosphere of intimidation, the compulsion toward orthodoxy on all racial matters, is growing every day. Even patriots who were not afraid to stand up to the Reds on the issue of “U.S. imperialism” during the Indochina war are now forced to toe the party line by the threat of being labeled “racists.”

A Prosperous BabylonAmerican “conservatives,” ranging from Nixon Republicans to Wallaceites, take a position on racial matters not fundamentally different from that of the liberals.
Although, unlike the liberals, they do not want to see the White race become peacefully submerged in a rising tide of colored subhumanity, they wring their hands and say, “Alas, what else can we do?”
Their motivation is not neoliberalism but economic self-interest. The only concern in their shopkeepers’ souls is that their money-grubbing and their self-seeking pursuit of “happiness” not be disrupted.
A peaceful Babylon, a prosperous Babylon, is their desire. Its color does not matter.
Riots Are Bad for BusinessSo far as they are concerned, the race problem would be solved if Blacks would all work and consume—like the happy Blacks in the integrated TV commercials for Pepsi Cola and Crest—instead of rioting, robbing, raping, and swelling the welfare rolls. The conservative solution to Black unrest is to buy them off, with more concessions, more integration, more “equality.”
But there is another way. It is the White man’s age-old way. That is, it was the White man’s way before materialism destroyed his character and liberalism sapped his will and softened his spine.
That way is to meet the problem head-on and to either overcome it or perish in the attempt.
There is a growing, worldwide conflict between the White race and the non-White peoples who want for themselves what the White man’s genius and energy have created. Very well, let us not look for some way to weasel around that conflict or to convince ourselves that it does not really exist. Let us quit stalling for time and trying to appease our enemies.
Instead, let us oppose them with all the resources at our disposal. Let us place the destiny of our own people ahead of all other considerations, and let us take whatever measures are required to secure that destiny.

Police Looking For Teen Brothers Who Allegedly Killed Arkansas Man : Fort Smith, Arkansas


According to police, Kaleb Watson, 22, was fatally shot at a residential property near 47th Street and Windsor Saturday night. Police say Shakur Sharp, 16, and his brother James, 15, are persons of interest in the death of Watson.
Due to the nature of the case, police decided to release information about the minors. They are both believed to be armed and dangerous.

According to Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney Daniel Shue, Shakur Sharp, James Sharp and Dionte Parks were charged with first-degree murder, as well as two aggravated robbery accounts and kidnapping, all felony charges.
A probable cause affidavit stated that intruders broke into Kaleb Watson’s house, tied him up and demanded to know where any valuable items might be.

Watson pointed out where his wallet and phone were, and shortly after escaped his restraints, the affidavit stated. While struggling with an intruder, Watson was shot multiple times. The intruders then fled.


Witness told investigators that Shakur Sharp admitted that he and the two other suspects entered the residence to steal, that he shot Watson. Witnesses said that James Sharp admitted to plotting and participating int he crime, according to the affidavit.
Parks admitted to providing a tote bag and shoelaces to the Sharps, and also to ringing the front door bell so the other two could enter the house around the back, the affidavit stated.


The suspects will be arraigned on Wednesday (Feb. 3).

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOV.com) - Five teenagers have been arrested for mob action after attempting to settle an on-going issue with a physical altercation.

Last Friday evening, Fairview Heights Police received several 911 calls about a fight near a residence on Countryside Lane. When officers arrived, multiple subjects fled to a nearby vehicle.

Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the occupants, Jacarlos Turmon, 22, Amber Ennis, 20, and Lexy Hardimon, 18, as participants in the nearby fight.

Officials say that when Turmon, Ennis, and Hardimon arrived at the residence, a physical altercation occurred between Hardimon, Ennis, and 18-year-old Shacolby Sanders. While attempting to break-up the fight, Turmon and Ronald Bean, 24, got into a fight as well. During the fight, Ennis got a knife from the car and threw it at Sanders, but did not cause any harm.

Miami woman left in a coma after she was attacked by roommate she found on CRAIGSLIST



A young woman from Miami has been in a coma for a week after her family said she was attacked by her roommate, a 35-year-old man she met on Craigslist. Byron Mitchell assaulted Danielle Jones, 23, just a week after he moved in with her in a downtown Miami apartment, Jones's mother, Aimee Nikolove, said.

He strangled her and cut her up on the night of her 23rd birthday. Jones has a brain injury, multiple scars on her face and neck and Nikolove doesn't know if or when her daughter will wake up.

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit police say the person of interest in Saturday's AMBER Alert has turned himself in.
According to police, 33-year-old Marcus Hightower turned himself in early Sunday morning.

An AMBER Alert was issued around 2 a.m. Saturday for 4-year-old Savannah Walker, and police were also looking for Hightower as a person of interest.

Two bodies were found in an abandoned home around 5 a.m. Saturday and it is believed that they are the bodies of Savannah and her mother, Heidi. Though police found the bodies, they are making sure the public knows the AMBER Alert is still active.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters that investigators were working to determine whether the bodies discovered in the east side home appear to be those of Savannah Walker and her mother. The Amber Alert about Savannah was issued earlier in the morning and she was reported missing on Tuesday to authorities in Livingston County.

Craig said the connection between the cases is possible but not confirmed at this point. He also couldn't account for the delay between the initial report to Livingston County sheriff's officials and the Amber Alert but expressed concern that law enforcement action wasn't taken earlier.

Livingston Sheriff Bob Bezotte said a deputy responded to a 911 call and advised the family member of the missing mother and daughter to file an Amber Alert with the Michigan State Police, the only agency authorized to issue one. The deputy also located the last activity on the missing woman's cellphone to Detroit's east side, and told the relative to contact Detroit police, Bezotte said.

Craig said city and state officials became involved when the relatives went to the state police post in Brighton.

Authorities say the person last seen with Savannah, a 33-year-old Detroit man, has been in a relationship with the mother. He's described as a person of interest and considered armed and dangerous, and Craig said he is on parole after serving time for assault with intent to commit murder.

There is a history of domestic violence between the man and missing woman, he added.

2 bodies found in house fire appear to be related to Amber Alert

DETROIT - Investigators have launched a homicide investigation on Detroit's east side that could be related to the Amber Alert issued for 4-year-old Savannah Walker.

The bodies of a woman and a young girl were found in the basement of a vacant home that was set on fire Saturday morning.

The home is in the 4700 block of Lakeview Street near Forest Avenue. Police were called to the scene around 6 a.m.

Detroit police did not confirm the identities of the woman and the girl, but initially said it was likely to be Savannah and her mother. Hours later, Police Chief James Craig and Michigan State Police clarified that the identities were not confirmed.

“We have not confirmed the identity of the female and the child that were found in the house that was burned,” Craig said. “Preliminarily, we believe it could be the missing mother and daughter, but we haven’t confirmed that.”

Savannah and her mother were reported missing Tuesday. Savannah’s older sister reported the two of them missing in Livingston County. They are residents of Howell.

The older sister tells Local 4, she told police Tuesday she believed her mother had been killed by someone.
“I told them about her on Tuesday and nothing was done until Friday,” said the daughter.

Chief Craig said that the initial report was made to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and it’s possible something should have been done then. When pressed if the delay may have cost lives in this situation, Craig said, “I don’t want to be overly critical because it’s still early in the investigation, certainly there were indications early on that something more should have been done.”

Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte told Local 4 a deputy responded to a 911 call Tuesday and advised the family member to file an Amber Alert with Michigan State Police, which is the only agency with authority to do so. The deputy was also able to locate the last activity of the missing woman’s cellphone—somewhere on Gratiot in Detroit. He told the family member to contact Ann Arbor police or Detroit police. It’s unclear if she did that before Friday.

Late Saturday afternoon, Bezotte defended his department, saying the deputy in charge began investigating immediately after receiving the report.

It was reported that Savannah and her mother were last seen with 33-year-old Marcus Hightower on Cadillac Boulevard in Detroit.

The older daughter also details a history of abuse between her mother and Hightower. She says he bit her forehead on New Year’s Eve, leaving her bloodied. She also says he beat and choked her throughout their six-month relationship.

Police confirmed there was a history of domestic abuse between the mother and Hightower.

“I told him three weeks ago, ‘If anything ever happens to my mother or my sister, I’ll know it’s you,’” said the older daughter, who last spoke to her mother a week ago via text. “And look what’s happened.”

Hightower has a history of criminal violence and is on parole for assault with intent to commit murder..

He was reportedly traveling in a black 2004 Ford Explorer with a Michigan license plate DFJ 5377 which was discovered on Detroit’s east side.
Right now, police are searching for Hightower. He is considered armed and dangerous.

“You will not hide, you cannot hide,” Craig said. “We will find you.”

Saturday night, detectives combed through the home of Hightower's relative. Cadaver dogs were used to search for evidence Savanna or her mother had been there.

That home on Cadillac and Kerchival is less than 3 miles from where the body of the woman and child were discovered.
Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw reiterated that the Amber Alert is still active until the identities of the bodies are confirmed.

The ex-paraprofessional who pleaded guilty to brutally punching a 9-year-old autistic student in the head said Monday that he didn't mean to hurt the boy.
Milton Parker said the blow was in response to the Anatoly Veltman making a racial comment and then hitting him first in the school cafeteria at a Brighton Beach elementary school in 2014.
He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault.


"Anybody who knows me, knows how I felt," Parker, 59, said. "I have great regret. I felt miserable for what happened to him. I felt sorry for my own self, too. I didn't mean to hurt him."




In an interview last week, Parker wasn’t so contrite, telling the Daily News, “The kid punched me and as a reflex he got hit back…Go punch a police officer in the face and see how many punches you get upside your head.”
The boy's father, Anatoly Sr., said Monday that his son is not the same since the attack. The youngster requires home schooling, needs corrective lens, and takes psychotropic medication, which he did not need before suffering a concussion.
"My son, every time he walks by the school, he runs away from me," he said. "It really affected him very profoundly. He can talk to you about things he is interested in, but he cannot communicate his feelings about what happened."
Parker, a paraprofessional for 26 years, said he retired from the Department of Education shortly after his arrest and now collects a pension.
Veltman has filed a $5 million lawsuit against Parker — who is representing himself - and the city for failing to properly train him. Parker scoffed at the allegation. "You don't train for 'reflexes,'" he said.
"How can someone work for the Department of Education with that kind of mentality," said Veltman's lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein.

Startling footage has emerged of a Tennessee police officer gunning down a black woman who was advancing toward him wielding a replica medieval battle-ax.

The lapel cam video begins with Gallatin Officer James Spray arriving at the scene of an altercation Wednesday responding to reports that a Sumner County Sheriff had been injured by a woman with an ax.
Upon exiting his patrol vehicle, the woman, LaRonda Sweatt, 40, menacingly approaches the officer, at which point he trains his weapon on her and demands she get on the ground, which she does not.
Officer Spray proceeds to fire two shots at Sweatt before she falls and drops the axe.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – IMPD detectives arrested two teenagers for their alleged roles in murder, attempted murder, and multiple robberies.

According to police, Jaquisha Love, 18, and Zion Smith, 16, murdered a man and critically injured his female passenger on July 19 just after midnight in the 3300 block of Robson Street.

Detectives determined a possible link to another robbery and shooting that occurred the same day around 3:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Wallace Avenue. In that case, officers found three people who had been shot. One victim was seriously injured, and the other two victims were listed in stable condition.

Again on July 19, just after 4 a.m. officers were called to the 4000 block of East 12th Street on a report of a person shot. The person shot in that incident was later identified as Smith. He had a gunshot wound to his right eye. Police found Love with Smith and they took him into custody for narcotics possession.

During the investigation, detectives determined the pair was linked to another robbery and shooting that occurred on July 18, 2016 in the 3500 block of East 10th Street. In that instance, they allegedly shot at a victim several times.

Smith and Love have been charged with murder, several attempted murders, and several robberies. Smith is being charged as an adult.

Car Thief Arrested in Lobby of Fort Bend County Jail

Yesterday around 1:20 PM, Richmond Officers were dispatched to the YMCA located in the 900 block of Thompson Hwy in reference to a stolen vehicle. As the victim finished his workout, around 1 PM, he retrieved his gym bag and noticed that his keys and some money were missing. The victim called the police department and officers responded and took a report.

A couple of hours later, around 3:30 PM, Richmond Officers were dispatched to the area of Williams Way and Legion Dr. in reference to this stolen car being in the area. Officers began checking the parking lot areas of the Ft. Bend County Tax Office, Courthouse parking garage, and the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office. The stolen vehicle was located in the Sheriff's Office parking lot.

Richmond Officer Todd Ganey went inside the lobby of the Sheriff's Office and observed a black male, matching the description from the YMCA security cameras. The subject was on a pay phone in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office.

As Officer Ganey approached the subject, later identified as Deion Johnson, 21 of Richmond, he noticed he was holding a set of keys to a Hyundai. Officer Ganey detained Mr. Johnson, who had released from the Fort Bend County Jail at noon on this same day. Officer Ganey verified that the keys in Mr. Johnson's hand were to the stolen Hyundai. Mr. Johnson was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and placed back in the Fort Bend County Jail.

Four black men face assault charges in connection with the beating of a white Alabama high school student who had posted pro-police comments online, police confirmed Wednesday.

The men, all former Sylacauga High School students, were arrested Tuesday after the Sept. 30 attack against 17-year-old Brian Ogle, Sylacauga Police Chief Kelley Johnson told reporters. Police have said the attack may have been racially motivated.

Ogle's mother, Brandi Allen, says her son responded to students wearing Black Lives Matter T-shirts at his school with "Blue lives matter," a defense of police officers. Officers found him bleeding on the ground after a homecoming football game.

He was hospitalized with serious head injuries.

Twenty-year-old Quartez Walker and 19-year-old Bobby Brown were arrested at Stillman College. Eighteen-year-old La Noah Ealy, Jr. was arrested at Auburn University in Montgomery. Twenty-year-old Daveon Nix was arrested in Sylacauga.

Nix is the son of Sylacauga District 2 City Councilwoman-elect Tiffany Nix, The Daily Home reported.

"Instead of us planning for his 18th birthday, we're here. Why? Because he made a statement that he backs the blue? I'm still trying to understand how someone, no matter the color of their skin, can do this to another human being," Allen said as her son recovered in the hospital. "I don't wish any harm on anyone's child. I would like for them to have to look at my child right now. I don't want any other mother to have to go through what I went through these past few days."

Two days before the attack on Ogle, violent posts on social media forced Chief Johnson to make a statement along with the superintendent of schools Dr. Todd Freeman. Part of the missive encouraged "everyone to report credible threats to the police immediately." According to Ogle's mother, Brandi Allen, Brian received numerous threats that he reported to the school's principal. Allen said she was “appalled” the principal said there was nothing she could do.

Last weekend, soon after the horror, Allen said "I want to see them [attackers] in jail. This most certainly is a race issue. It's a hate crime." Brian's mother described her son as outgoing and loving with many friends from all races. She believes her son was targeted because he responded to another post on social media with "I back the blue" and other pro-police comments earlier in the week.

Allen later told a Fox affiliate in addition to suffering skull fractures her son "was hit with something--what is presumed to be the butt of the pistol on his face,...there's a lot of wounds on the back of his head from being hit as well."

Brian’s family will celebrate his 18th birthday on October 21 at the hospital. Doctors are still monitoring him to see if the bleeding on his brain has stopped.

If that isn't tragic enough for Brian and his loved ones, Brandi said now her "son has been made into this awful, racist person that he is not."

Wright was a long-time customer of a nail technician at a Missouri City salon. While the salon’s manager was out of town, the technician had extra duties, including collecting payments until they were deposited. The defendant had visited the salon during the manager’s absence, was aware that they were short-staffed, and likely observed the woman collecting payments.

On May 1, 2015, Wright visited the salon when it opened. While she got her nails done, the defendant asked the technician about her plans for the evening and the whereabouts of her relatives – which the woman thought was friendly conversation. Some nine hours later, Wright returned to the salon as her technician and a coworker were closing and walking out. Wright first said she returned because there was something wrong with her nails, but then said her car broke down and asked for a ride home.

The technician considered Wright a friend and agreed to give her a ride home. When they arrived at a home in the Hunters Glen subdivision of Missouri City, Wright produced a knife and stabbed the woman repeatedly. The defendant threatened to shoot her victim if she attempted to flee. The woman was shocked and believed that Wright would continue to harm her, even though she didn’t believe that Wright had a gun. Wright took control of the car and drove through Missouri City, Stafford, and Houston, while her victim begged to be released.

Wright demanded that the woman withdraw cash from ATM’s, but the victim did not know her PIN. She instead offered her car, her purse and personal property, and cash from the salon. In an act of desperation, and still bleeding from her stab wounds, the victim opened the car door and tried to escape while the defendant was still driving. Wright was able to restrain the woman, who suffered severe abrasive injuries to her arms, legs, and feet as a result. Wright finally stopped in a poorly lit area, while her victim pretended to be dead. Wright pulled the woman out of the car by her legs, causing her head to hit the pavement.

Wright then dragged her behind a dumpster and repeatedly stabbed her before leaving in the woman’s car with her phone, purse, and the salon’s money. The victim didn’t make a sound as Wright stabbed her because she wanted Wright to believe that she was dead.

Left for dead, the nail technician got to her feet once she heard the car leave. She was able to flag down two women who stopped their car and called 911. They described the woman as bloody all over, like something out of a movie. EMS and police arrived to finally end the night’s ordeal.

From her initial contact with the good Samaritans and 911, through the investigation and at trial, the victim identified the defendant as “Kris, her friend.” Wright’s family members were also her customers and the women were connected through social media, which the victim used to help law enforcement identify Wright as her attacker. Wright was arrested exactly one month later.

Wright’s attorney argued at trial that there was no physical evidence to tie her to the crime and that the investigation was based solely upon the victim’s statement. In closing, Assistant District Attorney Mahmoudi described Wright as a predator who abused her victim’s trust, separated and isolated her, violently attacked her and threatened her family, then robbed her and dumped her body behind a dumpster.

“We don’t tell victims that we won’t hold predators accountable because there is no video or DNA,” said Mahmoudi. “We ask victims to testify in court, to face the person who hurt them violently, and to be cross-examined by an experienced professional. But we also tell victims that our jurors have sworn an oath to follow the law that one witness can be enough to convict an accused.”

Wright was tried in the 434th District Court before Presiding Judge James H. Shoemake. Aggravated Robbery is a first-degree felony punishable by 5-99 years or life in prison and a fine up to $10,000. Wright was probation eligible, but now must serve at least half of her 25-year sentence before she can be considered for parole.

Two teens charged as adults in the fatal attack on a cyclist in North Baltimore were convicted by a judge Monday of robbery and first-degree assault but acquitted of murder charges.

Baltimore Circuit Judge Stephen J. Sfekas, who presided over the bench trial, said it was "clear" that Antwan Eldridge, 18, and Daquan Middleton, 17, did not participate in a premeditated murder of 29-year-old Robert Ponsi.

A co-defendant — a teenager who, by a matter of months, was young enough to have his case waived to juvenile court — was alone responsible for Ponsi's killing, the judge said.

"It's clear [the juvenile defendant] was in a homicidal state of mind, and no one was expecting a knife was present or that a murder would take place," Sfekas said.

In juvenile court, where the focus is on rehabilitation rather than punishment, youths held responsible for offenses are released by their 21st birthday. The Baltimore Sun does not identify suspects whose cases are handled in juvenile court, and those proceedings are sealed.

Eldridge and Middleton — convicted of lesser offenses but tried as adults — could each face a maximum of more than 40 years in prison. Sentencing was set for Feb. 6.

Ponsi was riding his bicycle home from his job at a restaurant in Harbor East in January when a group of five to seven teens tried to scare him, Sfekas said the evidence presented at trial showed. He said Ponsi felt threatened and got off his bike, picking it up and waving it at the teens to ward them off.

The group began attacking Ponsi, and he was stabbed 11 times and slashed another six times.

Sfekas called the crime "inexplicable and cruel."

The juvenile suspect told police he was carrying the knife and had stabbed Ponsi.

Middleton and Eldridge made off with Ponsi's bike, and were caught after calling the police themselves because Middleton had been stabbed in the calf. After initially telling police they had been victims of an attack, Eldridge admitted to kicking Ponsi at least twice, while Middleton said he had "stomped" him, Sfekas said.

Sfekas said the state had not made a case that the pair had committed first- or second-degree murder.

But he said their culpability on charges of first-degree felony murder was more complicated. That charge involves a death that occurs during the course of committing a felony.

Citing case law, Sfekas said felony murder required a "common design" among the participants, and he said it couldn't be concluded that those attacking Ponsi had such a shared goal.

He said some of the people involved wanted to verbally abuse Ponsi and others may have intended to commit a robbery, but the youngest seemed intent on using the knife. Sfekas also said taking Ponsi's bike was "post facto" or after the fact.

Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby said in a statement that prosecutors "cannot guarantee the outcome" of a case.

"I am thankful that these defendants had to go through the process and will spend time behind bars for their reckless behavior that led to an innocent man's death," the statement said.

The juvenile co-defendant, who was 15 years, 5 months old at the time of the attack, was originally charged as an adult with first-degree murder, but in September successfully petitioned to have his case sent into the juvenile system.

Prosecutors opposed sending the case to juvenile court. While the defense said the defendant, a former City College student who excelled on debate teams, had been bullied and got involved with the wrong crowd, prosecutors said he knew right from wrong and didn't have mental problems that required treatment.

In Maryland, no one 16 years or older charged with first-degree murder is eligible to have their case heard in juvenile court.

Middleton was one month away from his 17th birthday, while Eldridge was 17 years, 7 months old.

"He has publicly apologized to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates, and the University. He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest."

Mixon pleaded guilty to assault after the incident in July 2014 and was suspended for his freshman season. Molitor sustained multiple injuries, including a broken jaw and cheekbone. Mixon did not serve jail time and was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- It’s been a violent week across Indianapolis with ten homicides since Thanksgiving Eve. The latest happened Wednesday night on the city’s west side, where officers say a man was shot and killed by another man who was acting in self-defense.

In looking at the rash of homicides during the past week, investigators say there are likely two culprits: drugs and people who can’t figure out how to agreeably disagree. Police admit it’s impossible to predict a homicide, but say assistance from the community can help to prevent one.

“It’s not really looking like they’re random acts of violence,” said Officer James Gillespie of IMPD.

So if these killings aren’t random, why have we seen such a recent spike? Police say the first reason is the success they’ve had targeting drug dealers which can lead to a turf war. For example, the sweep in early November during which 41 people were arrested.

“Because when you take a drug dealer out of an area, you’re going to have a couple different people who are going to compete for that area,” said Gillespie, “and so that can lead to more homicides unfortunately.”

Beyond that, authorities say a second reason is social arguments—personal disputes that get way out of hand.

“Anything from clothing to simple verbal arguments that spill into homicide where it reaches the point of gunfire, where in the past you might have only seen fistfights,” said Gillespie.

So what’s the answer? Authorities say a big part of the solution is community policing where officers offer solutions in addition to just enforcing the law.

“We’re letting them know, ‘Hey we have these resources available. We’re coming to them and saying what do you need?’” said Gillespie, “If you need work, we’ll help you try to find it; if you need food, we’re going to help you get it.”

Authorities also say they want more people to feel comfortable contacting them with tips on crime. As always if you know anything that can assist authorities, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers or IMPD.

In this world there are two types of people: those who see a problem and complain about it, and those who see a problem and do something about it.

Fortunately, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett appears to be a person who wants to solve problems. He has shown a strong commitment to solving a growing problem in our city: rising crime.

On Monday, he announced a bold plan to reform the city’s criminal justice system. The plan calls for major changes such as a new criminal justice center and jail, as well as identifying and treating people who suffer from addiction and mental illness instead of automatically putting them in jail.

Marion County’s current jail, which was built in the 1960s, is now overcrowded, with inmates sometimes having to be transported to another county. Under the plan, the jail would be replaced by a new facility with up to 3,000 beds, which would be located at the center along with a new juvenile detention center and traffic court.

However, Hogsett has made it clear that the plan is not just about finding space to lock more people up. The centerpiece of it is a new approach to fighting crime in Indianapolis: Police will work with social workers and paramedics to determine if a person has an addiction or mental illness, sending them to treatment instead of keeping them in jail.

“Let us build a system of justice that measures success in the lives it saves, not in the number of lives it detains,” Hogsett said when he announced the plan, which is based on recommendations from the 120-page Indianapolis Criminal Justice Reform Task Force report.

Those recommendations and Hogsett’s plan offer a fresh way to fight crime in Indianapolis, a way that has long been discussed but never actually tried on a large scale: eliminating the root causes of crime.

According to the Task Force, more than 40 percent of inmates in the downtown jail have a mental disorder of some kind or an addiction. The goal of the mayor’s plan is to help them and low-level, nonviolent offenders get the treatment they need.

This approach will not only reduce crime, but also keep the jail from becoming overcrowded, save taxpayer dollars and reduce the number of people in the judicial system by treating the addictions and disorders that often lead to crime.

Currently, no location has been selected for the new facility and specific ways to fund the plan have not been outlined, other than $35 million a year that could be redirected from existing resources.

So far, most policymakers and stakeholders in the community have welcomed the plan because it goes beyond old tactics that no longer work in reducing crime, such as putting more police on the streets without adjusting their methods, and using mandatory sentencing without any regard to the factors that lead some people into a life of crime.

In the coming months, however, even those who agree on the goals of the plan will debate on details such as funding and how to put it in place. Regardless of how tough that debate may become, we should find common ground and not give up on an opportunity to make Indianapolis a safer community as quickly as possible.

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) — A 26-year-old Boise man is accused of organizing prostitution services at a Boise motel.

Boise Police says officers were tipped off over some possibly prostitution activity at a motel near Vista Avenue and Sunrise Rim Road on Tuesday. Officers invested and located Donald P. Baskerville, who was a suspect in an ongoing investigation from October.

BPD says Baskerville is suspected of arranging the prostitution activity of a female prostitute and had allegedly assaulted her.
He was later taken into custody and charged with two felonies: aggravated assault and procurement of prostitution.

BEL AIR, Md. - Five Elkton High School juniors have been charged in connection to a large fight that broke out at a basketball game last week leaving a student unconscious.

Police were called to Harford Technical High School around 7:30 pm last Thursday for a fight between the Harford Tech Cobras and the players of Elkton High School.

The fight escalated into the stands and deputies called for assistance from additional agencies to clear the gymnasium.

As a result, five Elkton High School juniors have been charged as juveniles. Four males and one female were each charged with disrupting school operations.

The female was charged with two additional counts of second degree assault for striking a teacher and student. One male was charged with disorderly conduct. The three remaining males were each charged with one count each of second degree assault. One assaulted a teacher and two continued the assault on the student that had already been knocked unconscious.

Over 20 arrests were made in Philadelphia Monday evening after a flash mob of 100 teenagers devolved into a massive brawl.

Police Commissioner Richard Ross said that the teens gathered at around 5:30 p.m. and began to fight, and run in and out of traffic. They attacked one another, as well as passersby, he said, leading to 20 arrests for disorderly conduct and a several more for assault.

"They [the victims] were actually beaten, maced and claim to have even been tased," he said. "We know they were assaulted for sure.

"All of a sudden I looked up and saw what looked like 200 teens running from the shops at Liberty Place area," said Ensigm. "After the initial rush of people I started recording with my iPhone. The teens started dispersing as the police followed them on bicycles. I saw two individuals jumping on top of a parked taxi car at the corner of Ludlow and 17th Street. As the police came closer to the two individuals they jumped off the car and ran."

Ross said he believes that the riot was planned by social media, although the motive is unknown. He lamented that police had to waste time on managing out-of-control teens. "We do have other things to do," he said. "We have a whole host of other responsibilities, and devoting resources to something that really doesn't have to be is ridiculous."

During the 2016 Christmas season, a similar incident played out in the City of Brotherly Love, when some 400 teens clashed with police outside of a Philadelphia-area mall. About 30 managed to slip through the barricade and caused chaos in a food court, leading to a lockdown and four arrests.

A charity basketball game erupts in violence during the annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee.

The incident was caught on camera and now the video has gone viral.

A free-for-all broke out in the stands of the Selma high gymnasium Saturday just as a celebrity basketball game was about to get started.

A video shows the brawl raging non-stop until a police officer uses mace and clears the stands.

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson was a coach for one of the teams.

He says the fight was gang related.

“Thankfully, at this kind of event you have metal detectors and so the guns couldn’t be brought in. And so it was fighting, it was fists, people stomping each other,” he said.

Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier says four minors were arrested at the scene and more arrests are possible.

The game was sponsored by Best of Student Shooters, a local non-profit that uses sports to teach area youth about business.

Teen punches referee, starts 20-person brawl at school basketball game, cops say

GLOUCESTER CITY -- A fight broke out between 20 people at a youth basketball game after one of the players punched a referee, according to authorities.

The basketball game was being played at Cold Springs School on Feb. 24 when police were dispatched around 8 p.m. for the fight. Police arrested three juveniles for the fight and two officers were injured while making arrests.

The player, a 14-year-old boy from Market Street, punched the referee from behind during the game, which caused the brawl. Police charged him with simple assault and two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement. He was taken to a juvenile detention center.

During the fight, police also arrested a 14-year-old girl from Hunter Street and charged her with simple assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct. She was taken to a juvenile detention center, cops said.

Cops said a 12-year-old boy from Hunter Street was charged with simple assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and obstruction of justice. He was released to his mother.

ORANGEBURG – Members of the Peekskill community are “disgusted” and “embarrassed” after a brawl involving parents and girls basketball players broke out following a playoff game at Tappan Zee High School Saturday night.

At least one girls basketball player was punched in the face by her teammate, and at least one adult woman was taken to the hospital as a result of the brawl. No players were seriously injured during the incident.

“It’s embarrassing, it’s disgusting,” Jim Hunt, whose daughter plays for Peekskill, said Saturday night. “We’re hoping the school district actually takes some action.”

Following postgame handshakes between the two teams, Peekskill players began fighting with one another. The team was upset about the loss, according to several people in the area, then the anger manifested into a physical altercation.

4 dead, 4 arrested in Dallas robbery scheme using prostitute to lure men

Three men and a woman — all charged with capital murder — lured men to their deaths in a robbery scheme involving prostitution this month, Dallas police say.

They're also responsible for killing a woman who refused to take part in their plan, according to WFAA-TV (Channel 8).

Joy Tiara Gray, 21; Kevin Wayne Kidd, 28; Emmanuel Lewis Kilpatrick, 30; and Jermon Antwon Simmons, 34, are being held at the Dallas County Jail.



In all, four people were killed in a spree that lasted several days in mid-March, police said.

The first was a woman whom the men reportedly tried to force into working for them as a prostitute. According to WFAA's report, Kidd admitted to police that he and Kilpatrick forced her into their car at gunpoint.


Kilpatrick shot her multiple times when she wouldn't take part in the scheme, WFAA reported.

Police have not released the woman's name, but the television station says authorities have video footage of Kidd and Kilpatrick's vehicle, as well as a second vehicle driven by Simmons, going to and from the place she was killed.







Gray, who was arrested over an unpaid ticket March 17, told police that a week earlier she had agreed to have sex for money with Irby Walton Sr., 69, at his east Oak Cliff apartment, WFAA reported. Police found evidence on Walton's cellphone that that two had communicated.

Walton's son, 41-year-old Irby Walton Jr., was at the home in the 3100 block of Simpson Stuart Road when they arrived around 11:30 p.m. March 10.

Witnesses told police that they had seen the elder Walton go into the apartment with a woman and that they heard gunshots later. They saw three men and a woman leave the apartment, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. One witness also saw the men taking a large television.

Gray admitted to police that she had texted one of the men about the electronics and other items inside the apartment, according to the affidavit. She also identified Kidd, Kilpatrick and Simmons — her boyfriend — as the men in question.

Kidd, arrested March 20, told police that he helped Simmons take two televisions and an Xbox from the apartment, the affidavit says. When he went inside, he saw two men on the floor with their hands tied behind their backs. Kilpatrick was asking the men where the money and the key to the safe were, Kidd told police.

Kidd said he saw Gray and Simmons leave the apartment, but not Kilpatrick, according to the affidavit.

Simmons told police that he had helped take a 65-inch television and a PlayStation 4 from the apartment, and that Kilpatrick had a pistol, according to his arrest warrant affidavit. He said he later threw the PlayStation into the Trinity River.

Kilpatrick, in his interview with detectives, said that Simmons had a gun during the robbery and that he heard gunshots from the apartment as he was leaving. He said Simmons told him later that he had to shoot Irby Walton Jr. because he was getting loose from his restraints, according to his arrest warrant affidavit.







Police found the Waltons about 10:30 the next morning. One of the televisions was found at Kidd's home, and a vehicle belonging to Irby Walton Jr. was found burned in the 4700 block of Great Trinity Forest Way.







Less than 48 hours after Gray first encountered the Waltons, she met up with 53-year-old Cristobal Zepeda, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

They went to an ATM around 6:30 p.m. March 12 and then drove around in Zepeda's car for about an hour to find somewhere to park. Meanwhile, Gray was letting Kilpatrick know where they were, the affidavit says.

After Zepeda drove to the 500 block of Pontiac Avenue, Kilpatrick and Simmons arrived and blocked in Zepeda's vehicle, the affidavit says. After Gray got out of the car and the men tried to rob him, Zepeda attempted to drive off, authorities said.

Kilpatrick shot at least twice at Zepeda, hitting him once in the head, according to the affidavit.

Zepeda's car crashed through the gate of a food-recycling plant and struck a pickup; an employee found him around 5:15 a.m. the next day.

Gray told police that she had agreed to help the men with the robbery but did not plan on Zepeda being killed, the affidavit says. She also drew detectives a diagram of the crime scene.

Simmons told police that he had driven Kilpatrick to the location and that Kilpatrick shot Zepeda, according to the affidavit.







Police found a gun at Kilpatrick's home and are testing to see whether it's a match to a weapon used in the slayings, according to WFAA's report.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and would not comment further.

Gray, Kidd, Kilpatrick and Simmons have each been charged with one count of capital murder. Gray also faces a charge of aggravated robbery, and Kilpatrick has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bail has been set at $1 million for Simmons, $525,000 each for Gray and Kilpatrick and $500,000 for Kidd.

Each of the four has multiple previous convictions: Gray for prostitution and criminal trespass; Kidd for aggravated robbery, drug possession, evading arrest and failure to ID; Kilpatrick for aggravated robbery, burglary and unlawful possession of a weapon; and Simmons for murder, attempted robbery, drug possession, evading arrest and failure

HOUSTON -- Friends and family are shocked after they say a woman went on a shooting spree, killing several members of her family before killing herself.

Five people were found shot at three different homes in southeast Houston and Fresno. Four were dead and one was clinging to life.

Authorities have not confirmed if the shootings are connected, but Delia Ledet, a longtime family friend of the victims, told CW 39 NewsFix that the alleged shooter was a young mother.

Ledet said Dikita Holmes shot her mother, LaVerne Holmes, and stepfather, Robert, at their home at 3829 Mt. Pleasant before turning the gun on herself. Houston Police arrived Friday around 7 a.m. to find Dikita Holmes and her stepfather dead at the scene and her mother in critical condition.

Dikita Holmes lived at 3821 Mt. Pleasant, just a few doors down from her parents. When police went to her house, they found a man also shot to death. The relationship between the man and the alleged shooter has not been released.

Authorities were also sent to 4831 Richmond Knolls Lane in Fresno, where they found the body of Carolyn Holmes, the older sister of Dikita Holmes.

Friends and family say Dikita Holmes shot them all, and were struggling to find out what made her snap.

Shortly before taking her own life, Dikita Holmes allegedly called another one of her sisters, Deka Holmes, and told her what she had done. Dikita Holmes allegedly asked her sister to watch out for the children she was leaving behind, requesting that they not be separated.

Deka Holmes reached out to authorities and asked them to check on her family.

Ledet said such behavior was not common for Dikita Holmes, who was known as smart, loving and full of life.

"She's a criminal justice law major, she is a college student, she takes care of her kids. We are just flabbergasted," Ledet said. "She is an outgoing person, a loving person and she just loves her kids. I can't imagine waking up this morning knowing that she done something like this."

Ledet said LaVerne Holmes is still fighting for her life.

"The last that we heard she is in critical condition but she is still fighting for her life. She is a strong woman but she ain't gonna go out without a fight. She's a very strong woman."

Authorities are still investigating the multiple crime scenes.

PEORIA — A 15-year-old boy was held on $100,000 bond for allegedly invading a home and taking a wallet from an elderly man in February.

Gary A. Irby, 15, of 2719 W. Trewyn Ave., Apt. 182, appeared in Peoria County Circuit Court on Friday and was charged with armed robbery and home invasion. He had been charged as a juvenile, but his case was transferred to Peoria County’s adult felony division.

A second teen, Dimetreion D. Ivy, 14, of 2909 W. Wyoming St., had appeared last week in court on the same charges and was held on $90,000 bond. He too was initially charged as a juvenile. A third boy’s case remained in juvenile court.

On Feb. 4, the teens went to the house, located in the 5900 block of Taber where a 75-year-old man lived, said Assistant State’s Attorney Steve Pattelli. First, the victim told police he heard a knock on the door. He answered it and the teens asked if a person was there. He said no. They then asked if he had a dog, and he said no. The teens then rushed into the house, knocking him over, and pointed a gun at him, Pattelli said in open court.

One person allegedly took the man’s wallet from his pants. Later, police learned that one of the victim’s credit cards was used at the mall. From there, they were able to build their case, and through witnesses, identify some of the teens who were seen at the mall.

Due to the fact that a handgun was used and the age of the victim, both teens face at least 21 years and possibly up to 75 years behind bars.

Irby will next appear in court on May 4.

PEORIA — A Peoria teen was ordered held on $350,000 bond Friday for allegedly bursting into a house, threatening the people inside and stealing a car earlier this year.

Keyshawn D. Nichols, 17, of 1617 W. Millman St., had been charged as a juvenile but his case was transferred to the adult felony division of Peoria County Circuit Court. He stands charged with multiple counts of home invasion, armed robbery, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and aggravated battery.

Due to the fact he was alleged to have had a handgun and the victims of the home invasion and armed robbery were over the age of 60, he faces at least 21 and possibly 75 years behind bars if convicted of all counts. A May 4 preliminary hearing was scheduled.

A second teen, Cantrall I. Gipson, 14, of 1304 S. Stanley St., was charged with a similar offense a week ago. He too was also initially charged as a juvenile and then had his case transferred to adult court. His bond was set at $750,000 and his preliminary hearing is a week before Nichols’. According to Assistant State’s Attorney Steve Pattelli, a 74-year-old man and his wife, 69, were in their house about 11 p.m. Jan. 17, 2017, in the 2700 block of West Wyoming Street when they heard a knock on their front door. Their stepson, who also was in the room, opened the door and then put on his jacket to go outside. After five or six minutes, three men ran into the house. A fourth followed with the stepson, 41, who was covered with blood and appeared beaten, Pattelli said in open court.

One of the robbers demanded car keys while another pointed a gun at the wife’s face, according to the report. Then, when her husband got up to find his keys, he was knocked to the ground by one of the robbers. The four then started to ransack the front room, throwing items from drawers and closets on the floor. The robbers then turned their attention to the woman and demanded money. She gave them her purse, some money and her wallet. The thieves then took her husband’s wallet as well. They also took a TV, cellphones and a tablet computer, according to court records.

They then left the house and went outside. The husband told police he then retrieved a firearm and fired a single shot into the ground when he got outside and saw the men in his car. That prompted the robbers to crash the car into a nearby fence and take off running. Police found a single bullet hole in the car as well as pools of blood on the ground between the victims’ home and the home of the stepson, who lived nearby on the same street.

During their investigation, police found that blood on Nichols’ shoe allegedly matched the blood of the man who was beaten. Pattelli said that victim suffered a skull fracture and appears to have permanent brain damage as a result of the incident.

An 18-year-old former football player is accused of fatally beating an 86-year-old woman in California this week in a sexually-motivated assault after she tried to stop him from allegedly attacking her friend, authorities tell PEOPLE.

Investigators claim Fusako Petrus and her 61-year-old friend were attacked by Neven Glen Butler about 6 a.m. Wednesday as they were walking on the track at Highlands High School outside Sacramento, California.

The “stranger attack” was sexually motivated, Sacramento County sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Turnbull tells PEOPLE.

The friend managed to escape but Petrus was killed, he says.

“There was no rhyme nor reason for this,” he says. “This was an innocent woman going about her day. This guy was just very brazen.”

Butler, the alleged assailant, is a Twin Rivers Unified School District dropout who last attended classes at Highlands High in December, a district spokesperson tells PEOPLE. He was a member of the varsity football team from 2015 to 2016.

He is being held without bail in the Sacramento County Jail after being booked Friday on a murder charge and two counts of assault with attempt to commit rape.

He was already in custody for an unrelated but similar assault on Wednesday of a 92-year-old woman at a local elderly care home, authorities say.

He was arraigned Friday afternoon on those charges. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Petrus’ death and her friend’s assault on Monday, when he will also be formally charged in that case.

It was unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney.

Butler allegedly attacked the 61-year-old victim first, authorities say, and Petrus heard the commotion from a few paces ahead and intervened.

“She turns around and sees her friend being attacked, and she comes to her aid,” Turnbull says, alleging, “Once she comes to her aid, Butler turns his attention on her and ended up assaulting her and inevitably causing the injuries that caused her death.”

Turnbull says that Petrus was wielding a stick but “unfortunately it wasn’t a big walking stick. It was smaller. I don’t know if she hit him, but she had the walking stick in her hand.”

A woman who was exercising nearby witnessed the attack and ran to her car to call 911, Turnbull says.

By the time police arrived, Petrus had died from her injuries. Her friend was treated at the scene and is expected to recover.
Suspect ‘Wasn’t Hiding It’

Turnbull says detectives zeroed in on Butler after the other assault at a care home in Sacramento on Wednesday afternoon.

“He didn’t work there. He had some family members who worked there, and he was visiting,” Turnbull explains.

“[Butler] just got up and, unprovoked, just started physically assaulting the 92-year-old female,” he alleges.

Turnbull says there were witnesses to the attack. “He wasn’t hiding it,” he says. “He just started assaulting her out of nowhere. We were called, and we get there and he is still on the scene and we take him into custody for that assault.”

Butler was arrested without incident and booked at the Sacramento County Jail on felony assault and elder abuse charges.

Turnbull says that after the afternoon assault, it wasn’t a stretch to probe possible links to the earlier attack.

“How often do you have two incidents so close together in time that are very similar?” he says. “He [Butler] also matched the physical description as well” and lived near the track.

Over the next two days, detectives were able to “connect” Butler to the Petrus murder and attack on the other victim, Turnbull says.
‘A Long Road of Grieving’

In a statement on its website, the school district said officials were “relieved and grateful that authorities have a person of interest in custody,” but “shocked” that Butler was a former student.

“Our immediate concern is with the victims and their families,” the district said. “They face a long road of grieving and will need the support of the entire community. We know you join us in keeping them in our thoughts and prayers.”

Petrus appears to have no living immediate family, and her friends could not immediately be reached by PEOPLE. A neighbor who’d known her for more than 50 years told the Sacramento Bee that she was an avid gardener who enjoyed feeding the squirrels.

“We looked out for each other,” the neighbor, Lloyd Miller, said. “She took out my trash every week for me. She was a Christian and went to church every Sunday.”

Miller said Petrus had been walking at the school track for at least 40 years.

The woman – who is seen in the below video was dropped on her head – suffered serious head trauma. She was then almost DROWN – when she was tossed into the pool. Luckily MediaTakeOut.com confirmed that the woman managed to leave the residence – with her dogs – on her own, after the video cut off.

A registered sex offender with a history of using guns and brute strength to overpower his victims is suspected of beating a tourist and trying to rape her last week in Harlem, officials said Monday.
“He’s a highly dangerous individual who knows we’re looking for him,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.
Police are looking for Keon Robinson, 28, who was convicted of a 2006 attack at the Breevort Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. He served seven years in prison for biting and trying to rape a 31-year-old woman at gunpoint.
Robinson is a Level 3 sex offender, a category of convicts considered most likely to reoffend.
And yet he was on the streets.

Police believe the same man is responsible for the strikingly similar attack on a British woman around 2:50 a.m. Thursday. The woman, who carries a German passport, was walking home to her Airbnb rental when the predator approached her on W.146th St. near Frederick Douglass Blvd.
He came up behind her and wrapped his arm around her neck, police said.
“You’re gonna give me your bag,” he told her, according to cops. “I have a gun.”
Shocking surveillance footage showed the attacker grabbing the 31-year-old woman’s bag and delivering crushing blows to her head — knocking her teeth out — as she tried to protect herself.
Once the woman was limp, the attacker pulled off her leggings and her shoes, sources said. He then groped her and stole the purse, police sources said.
Robinson smashed his hand on the ground while punching her, leaving a trail of blood to a building on W. 147th St., where he has a friend, Boyce said.
Cops found surveillance video of him, and a witness identified him around 8:30 p.m. Friday, Boyce added. Police found DNA in the elevator and are trying to link it to Robinson.
Police also want to question the Brooklyn man in two other crimes, including the robbery of a man on W. 139th St. on April 27.

Suspect wanted for attacking several elderly women in Harris County arrested

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) --
After a two-week investigation, Harris County Precinct 4 constable investigators arrested a man wanted for attacks on several elderly women.

Harris County Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman said his office investigated three incidents involving physical attacks on elderly women who were working in their front yards.

They discovered that a suspect, described as a black man between the ages of 18-25, would approach the victims while their back is turned, assault them and throw them to the ground.

In one of the incidents, the suspect attacked the woman and pulled down her pants.

"The victim was able to scream, at which time the suspect fled," a press release read.

"Each attack became more physical and sexual in nature. Due to the suspect's actions, it became our # 1 priority to arrest him and protect our elderly citizens," said Constable Mark Herman.

Charges are pending for Galloway.

The Pct. 4 constable's office is urging any other victims who may have been attacked by Galloway to come forward.

A security camera video taken inside Carson Elementary School reveals that a student assaulted an 8-year-old boy in a restroom and other children kicked and struck the boy for five minutes while he lay unconscious.

Two days later, the boy died by suicide.

In a report obtained by The Enquirer, a Cincinnati Police homicide detective describes the Jan. 24 school video’s content: “I witnessed behavior that in my belief is bullying and could even rise to the level of criminal assault,” if not for the young ages of the perpetrators.

School officials did not tell the boy's mother about the assault or that he had lost consciousness, only that the boy had fainted, the mother's lawyer says. Neither Cincinnati Public Schools officials nor Carson Elementary officials are commenting on the video or the assault.

The Enquirer has asked Cincinnati Public Schools to release the video of the assault at the West Price Hill school. The system’s lawyers, however, denied the request, citing federal privacy law. The Enquirer believes the denial was in error and is appealing the decision.

As a result, school spokeswoman Janet Walsh declined to answer any other questions about the situation. Walsh previously has said Carson Elementary had zero reports of bullying in the August-December term.

The 8-year-old’s death triggered a police investigation. Eric Karaguleff, a veteran Cincinnati homicide detective, wrote an email Feb. 3, about a week after the boy’s death, to Jeff McKenzie, Carson's assistant principal. Carson Principal Ruthenia Jackson and three other CPS officials were copied on the message.

Karaguleff composed a timeline for 18 minutes of video. Eleven minutes in, a boy enters the restroom, wearing a red and gray coat “with dyed hair sorta O’Dell Beckham Jr. style,” in the manner of the professional football player. Six seconds later, kids flee the restroom. The boy in the red and gray coat hits another boy in the stomach, “sending him to the floor in all fours.” The assailant then threatens another boy.

Then the 8-year-old arrives “and appears to shake hands.” The boy in the red and gray coat yanks the 8-year-old to the ground and “appears to celebrate and rejoice in his behavior” as the victim lay motionless. For nearly five minutes after that, “Many students step over, point, mock, nudge, kick, etc.,” the 8-year-old boy. Finally, McKenzie rushes into the restroom and finds the boy.

The detective’s report said the school staff could best handle the issue, but he asked for the name and date of birth of the boy in the red and gray coat. This week, police spokesman Lt. Steve Saunders said the department concluded its investigation with no further action.

Cincinnati lawyer Jennifer Branch, representing the 8-year-old’s mother, said on the day of the assault, someone from Carson Elementary called the mother to say her son fainted and was in the nurse’s office with normal vital signs. The mother picked up her son and took him home. Later in the evening, the boy became nauseous and vomited twice, and his mother took him to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Branch said the boy only told his mother his stomach hurt, adding that the mother believes he did not know what had happened that day.

Cincinnati Children’s kept the boy until about 6 a.m. Jan. 25 and decided he was suffering from stomach flu, Branch said. Exhausted, the boy stayed home from school that day. He did go to school Jan. 26 and came home. Around 5:30 p.m., he went to his bedroom, knotted a loop in his necktie and hanged himself from his bunk bed.

Branch said officials of Carson Elementary and CPS did not tell the mother that her son had been assaulted at school. “If the school had told her what had happened to him in the bathroom, that he was unconscious for such a long period of time, she would have taken him to the hospital immediately, reported that to the medical professionals, and she would have called police,” Branch said.

“That’s why this is so frustrating for her, not knowing what really happened in that school."

Mexican mob attacks Russian man in Cancun over insults

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A mob of angry Mexicans attacked a Russian man in the Caribbean resort of Cancun with sticks and rocks over his repeated insults against locals, and the 42-year-old man was accused of fatally stabbing a youth in the melee, authorities said on Saturday.

Police rescued the Russian, identified as Aleksei Makeev, after the crowd stormed his apartment on Friday night, said Guillermo Brahms, secretary general of Benito Juarez municipality, which encompasses Cancun.

Blurry footage of the attack circulated widely on Mexican media on Saturday. In one clip, assailants can be heard shouting "You're going to die" and "I'm going to cut your head off" as they closed in on the Russian.

The incident began when a group of people confronted Makeev over his disparaging comments toward locals, many of which he videotaped and posted online.

Makeev stabbed a youth who got into his apartment, prompting the mob to grow and the violence to escalate, Brahms said.

The youth later died of his injuries. Makeev, who was taken to hospital for treatment, is being held there under protective custody, the official said.

Authorities said Makeev made videos of himself insulting people in public places in Russian, English and Spanish. In some, he spoke against a backdrop of swastikas.

It was not clear how long Makeev had been in Mexico, but Aquaworld, a company offering maritime tours in Cancun, said in a statement on Facebook the Russian had been dismissed from its payroll in November 2015 because of his aggressive behavior.

Mexico's National Migration Institute said in separate statement that multiple complaints had been filed against Makeev because of his behavior and that it was seeking the cooperation of Russian authorities to deport him.

The Russian embassy had no immediate comment.

A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot by an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent after the teen allegedly attacked the agent on a southern California sidewalk and then pointed a gun at him and demanded his property, authorities told KABC-TV.

The fatally shot teen, identified as Darius Smith, was with a pair of 14-year-old accomplices when they allegedly attacked the agent from behind just after 8 p.m. Friday in Arcadia, authorities told the station.

The agent said he had exited a train — and so did the teens, law enforcement officials told KCBS-TV.

At a street corner, one of the teens allegedly came at the agent from behind while one struck him in the head and another pointed a gun at him and demanded his property, officials told KABC.

“The victim thought the subjects were going to rob and shoot him so he retrieved his department-issued handgun,” Caroline Rodriguez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy told the station. “The victim shot at the subjects in an effort to defend himself.”

The teen with the gun and one of his accomplices were hit by the agent’s gunfire, investigators told KABC. Arcadia police recovered a handgun at the scene that Smith allegedly held, deputies said in a statement to the station.

Smith was pronounced dead at a hospital Saturday morning, the sheriff’s department told KABC.

But the lawyer for Smith’s family said the teen was murdered.

“Darius Smith was executed,” attorney Lee Merritt told KABC in a follow-up story. “He was not in the midst of a robbery. He was shot twice in the legs first. [He fell] and his shooter got over him and shot him three times in the chest. That’s a murder. That’s not subduing the robbery.”

Smith’s family wants the agent to face criminal charges, KABC reported, adding that Merritt and members of Black Lives Matter said young black men often are falsely portrayed as criminals — and that Smith was anything but.

Jasmine Abdullah of Black Lives Matter told the station that Smith was “a child of God, he was a good kid, he was an aspiring football player and we’re asking that justice be served.”

The second suspect in the incident remained hospitalized with gunshot wounds that weren’t life-threatening. The third teen fled on foot unharmed but was later found at a nearby home, taken into custody and booked at a juvenile facility on suspicion of robbery, the station said.

The two teens still face robbery charges, but Smith’s family and their attorney said those charges should be dropped.

An Oklahoma man who was trying to drown his twin 3-month-old children was shot and killed by a neighbor Friday, police said.

City of Ada spokeswoman Lisa Bratcher told reporters that Leland Foster, 27, of Poteau, died from gunshot wounds after a 12-year-old girl ran from the home and alerted a neighbor for help.

Bratcher said the neighbor, identified as Cash Freeman, told police he went to the home armed with a handgun and shot Foster twice after seeing him holding the infants under water in a bathtub while threatening the children’s mother with a knife.

According to KFOR-TV (http://kfor.com/2017/06/03/oklahoma-man-shoots-kills-neighbor-who-was-trying-to-drown-twin-babies/), Freeman shot Foster twice in the back.

Bratcher said the children were taken to the hospital in stable condition and the neighbor was questioned and released by police.

Freeman told KFOR-TV he felt he did the right thing, but was worried he may be in trouble. The district attorney’s office will decide whether the killing was justified and if Freeman will face charges.

Foster had been charged in 2011 with domestic abuse by strangulation and arson, KFOR-TV reported.

A contractor for Spectrum cable was shot Thursday while working on an apartment complex on the West Side.

Paramedics responded to the shooting around 11:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Merida Street, where they found 30-year-old Kyle Ballard with a large gunshot wound on the left side of his abdomen.

He was transported to University Hospital in serious condition and underwent surgery, said San Antonio Police Department Sgt. Ramiro Garcia. The contractor was responsive when he was transported to the hospital, but because the bullet caliber was so large, police are unsure as to whether the wound was life threatening.

Garcia said the shot was fired from inside the apartment that the contractor was working on. There were two or three people inside at the time of the shooting.

Witnesses told police at least two people fled the apartment in a black pickup truck after the shooting.

Two people, a man and a woman, were detained in connection with the shooting two blocks away from the scene at SW 19th and Medina Streets. Homicide detectives are currently interviewing one of them. It is unclear if the two detainees will face any charges in connection with the shooting.

A black pickup truck was parked on the street at the location where the man and woman were detained. A tow truck hauled the pickup away shortly after.

GALVESTON, Texas (CN) — Texas club owners didn't beef up security for a show featuring two rival rap groups and an aspiring emcee was shot in the head in a fight that could have been expected, his mother claims in court.

Lashendrea Lartigue sued New Beginnings LLC and its owner Edwin Shelton in Galveston County Court on behalf of her late son, Malik Lartigue-Pratt.
New Beginnings owns a hall in La Marque that hosted the Cookie Snow Talk Show on April 9, according to the May 12 complaint.

"Lavish Buffet Free Drinks 21 & Up Only," a Facebook ad for the event states.
Lartigue-Pratt was 18.

Described in his obituary as a "loveable teddy bear" who was "sincere about one day becoming a famous rap artist," Lartigue-Pratt was a senior at Ball High School in Galveston, his mother's attorney Cris Rasco said.

Rasco said in an interview that Shelton and New Beginnings "put profit over safety" and drew a big crowd, knowing it was a powder keg.

"The show featured two competing and potentially violent rap music groups whose members are believed to be prominent in local street gang activity," the lawsuit states.

Rasco told Courthouse News that New Beginnings typically notifies police about its events.

"It's a special-events place and it seems like it's pretty harmless or docile because they have weddings, receptions, you know, different things there," Rasco said.
"And whenever they have an event they usually, it was their habit, or custom, to tell the La Marque Police Department. The chief of police of La Marque told me they didn't tell them anything about this thing."

A fight broke out and spilled into a parking lot and Lartigue-Pratt jumped into his friend Nicholas McGill's car, according to the complaint.
McGill is also a defendant in the lawsuit. The mother claims that McGill had weapons in his car and knew the show could become violent.

"Rival groups fired several gunshots. Lartigue-Pratt was a passenger in the rear passenger side of McGill's vehicle when he received a gunshot wound to the back of his head," the complaint states.

He died three days later in the hospital.

His mother wants more than $1 million in punitive damages for gross negligence, premises liability and fraudulent misrepresentation.

Five years after West Palm Beach native David Grant was killed outside a Dunkin' Donuts in Broward County, his sister Carol Field was hoping justice would finally be served.

Instead, the state dropped all charges against the suspect Joni Donley from Riviera Beach.

“Today is one of the saddest days of my life," Field said. “They just let a killer go free.”

The state argued it didn't have enough evidence.

“Only because the State Attorney’s Office didn’t preserve the testimony of a key witness," Field said. "Other than that there was plenty of evidence.”

According to police reports and witness testimonies, Donley was fighting with Grant over payments. Grant was tutoring Donley in math.

The fight escalated and one witness said Grant used the n-word and Donley then began punching and choking him.

Field said she was shocked to hear he had used racial slurs but said that doesn't mean he deserved to die.

“I wasn’t there and don’t know what was said," Field said. "What I do know is this: Under no circumstances is it ever acceptable or OK to physically attack.”

The medical examiner called Grant's death a homicide and the result of strangulation.

Donley was arrested and interviewed at the police station.

According to the police report, officers told him Grant was dead and Donley then began crawling on the floor saying: “Oh, my God, I took a life. (…) this can’t be happening.”

“It totally confuses me how the State Attorney’s Office couldn’t prosecute a case like that," Field said.

The Broward County State Attorney's Office released a statement saying it lacked evidence since the key witness went back to his home country of Saudi Arabia.

Field said the state knew all along the witness was going back to Saudi Arabia at the end of his studies and failed to secure his deposition.

“The State Attorney didn’t do their job here,” Field said. “There will never be justice for my brother.”

The Broward County State Attorney released a memorandum, explaining the decision to drop charges on Friday.

"The State has no competent evidence to rebut the argument that when Donley is called a "n-word", he was suddenly provoked to turn and strike Mr. Grant. The witnesses all stated that Donley was walking away, and suddenly the combat ensues, with Grant attempting to place Donley in a bear-hug. By all accounts, no weapon was used, and the fact that Donley held Grant for approximately 15 seconds, does not rise to the level of a cruel and unusual manner.
While the cause and manner of death was deemed homicide by strangulation, the doctor's report also opined that cardiovascular disease was a "contributory cause of death."
In addition to the State's lack of competent evidence to proceed and prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt, there is also a question of whether the State could overcome a claim of Excusable Homicide. Pursuant to Florida Statue 782.03"

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told CBS LA that a suspect was stealing the items from a 7-Eleven Saturday when a man offered to pay for them.

The suspect became upset and began arguing with the man. Police said the suspect then attacked the man with an ax, striking him in the head several times. The suspect fled on foot. The victim was transported to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Authorities have released a surveillance image of the suspect. He is considered armed and dangerous. The public should call 911 with any information regarding his whereabouts.

Police on Tuesday arrested a man they allege was part of a group of people who robbed a Galveston convenience store and then fired a gun at a person as city streets were flooded during Hurricane Harvey.

The incident happened Aug. 29, the day the worst flooding occurred on Galveston Island during Harvey.

Police were called to reports of a shooting on the 3800 block of Sealy Street about noon. Police said the incident started with a burglary at a convenient store on Broadway, about two blocks away.

No one was injured in the shooting. Police said Tuesday the victim of the shooting was a passerby that was located after the crime was originally reported.

Investigators released photographs of three people they suspected were involved in the incident, and said they were looking for up to 10 more people.

On Tuesday, after an "intense investigation," which included a review of video surveillance, cellphone records and a witness statements, police arrested Jemarcus Lee Simmons, 22, of Hitchcock.

Simmons was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and a single count of robbery. He was held on $250,000 bond at the Galveston County jail on Tuesday afternoon.

No more arrests are expected, police said.

July 30, 2015

On July 29th 2015 at approximately 5:30 pm, Texas City Police were dispatched to 5714 FM 1765 #5 Mainland Park Apartments in reference to a robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival Texas City Police made contact with the victim who stated he had been robbed and pistol whipped.

The victim stated he had received a phone call from an individual who he had met that wanted to buy his television. A short time later he heard a knock at the door of his apartment and a male individual he did not know stated he was there to purchase the television. The victim allowed the subject to enter the apartment and look at the television. A second male then came to the door and when the victim opened it the first individual grabbed him from behind pulled him to the ground and put a knife to his throat. The second individual then produced a handgun and struck the victim several times about the head and shoulders with it.

The suspects then took cash, jewelry and clothing totaling approximately $2,000.00. The suspects then fled the apartment and entered a green older model Honda that the victim was able to describe to responding Texas City Police Officers. The license plate came back to the same apartment complex as the victim, Mainland Park Apartments 5714 FM 1765 #1105. Officers responded to the location and were able to locate two males matching the description of the suspects in apartment #1105.
The victim received minor injuries and refused medical attention.

Both suspects were positively identified by the victim as the individuals responsible for the robbery. Jemarcus Lee Simmons a 20 year old male resident of Hitchcock, TX and Brandon Anthony Coleman a 19 year old male resident of Texas City, TX were taken into custody for the robbery. At the time of this press release both suspects are in the custody of the Texas City Jail awaiting transfer to the Galveston County Jail. Both suspects bonds have been set at $80,000.00 apiece.
