i'm a high school girls bball aau coach. they need some black refs. they do everything they can to stop us from pummeling african teams. it is incredibly corrupt. i could fill up this thread with stories/examples. worst thing is that 90 percent of the refs in this area are black.

if this story doesn't involve blowing out african teams it might be because the good team continues to press with a big lead. it's common courtesy to retreat to quarter court once you've demolished the opponent. just wild speculation on why the other teams refuse to play them -

send them my way -- we'll take 'em on. even if we get blown out -- we never whine about it.

it says that the other teams would either forfeit or do something I didn't catch, might have been not showing up to matches?

So basically these girls would have won all their matches by forfeit? If so, why not stick it out. Get the forfiets, get this years trophy. So long as it didn't end up going to one of these other teams....... who would have been less than they could have been.

Rogers Area Youth Basketball coach Jason Hanauska was winning, 3-0, when he heard that his girls were being suspended from their league.

The problem? They were so skilled, none of the other teams stood a chance.

The Rogers Area Youth Basketball Association is a nonprofit that provides in-house leagues for kids, as well as travel teams for grades 4-8, all coached by volunteers. The

This year, RAYBA entered a high school girls team in the independent Northwest Suburban Basketball League for the first time. Previously, RAYBA didn’t have enough girls to participate.

The NWSBL warned RAYBA that its league was composed of teams where the most talented players were spread equally across the board through a draft. So RAYBA asked its players if they'd be willing to split into two even-skilled teams for the sake of fairness, but the players insisted on sticking together.

RAYBA submitted a single team of 11 players.

They turned out to be monsters, crushing their opponents in the first two games.

“After the first two weekends of play, it was evident to all that the team that RAYBA sent to the NWSBL was comprised of players who exhibited talent beyond the other teams in the league,” RAYBA wrote in a statement.

On January 20, NWSBL told RAYBA that none of the other teams wanted to play them. One team threatened to forfeit immediately, and the other two offered to quit the league. A meeting to brainstorm a compromise was held on January 25 and attended by Fox 9, which broke the news that the RAYBA team was banned for being too good.

“To be absolutely clear, the RAYBA team was not ‘kicked out’ or dismissed from playing by RAYBA or any of the RAYBA volunteer board members,” according to RAYBA. “We support this team and in no way are we cutting ties with them. We will find ways for them to continue playing the game they love.”

Suppose this fits in with the embracing/accepting failure meme?

Knowing that your outmatched and going to loose, why not treat it like an exhibition or a practice? You can get a lil better yourself by competing against skilled opponents.

stupid parents/coaches -- their top concern is wins/losses. i've fought them for years. why don't you play zone? why don't you only let the point guard bring the ball up? why do you let your post shoot threes? etc etc... stupid mf's can't understand that i'm making THEIR daughters better by making wins/losses a secondary concern, behind player development

i live by where this happened. this story is 100% false. the league they are in is a draft league that plays 3 months of the year. the rayba team from rogers is a year round traveling team that has a set roster, they audition for the team and are recruited. the rules of the division specifically state that traveling teams are not supposed to be in the draft league. they are allowed at coachs' discretion. in instance, the draft rules specifically state that they are supposed to move up a division at the request of the other coaches if play becomes unfair due to them being a traveling team and not a draft like the others. ryba refused to follow the rules and move up a division because then they wouldn't be the golden team anymore (would start losing out to edina, plymouth, etc.). since they wouldn't move up a division and follow the rules, they were kicked out per the rules. this story this story is 100% bullshit.

thanks for confirming

rec league let them in as in-tact team....and likely knew they were loaded. whats up with that?

i still say the others need to stfu and play the games. more ball, not less makes your girls better

If these girls spent their time on MORE IMPORTANT matters like learning how to cook, bake and mend clothes, they would be FAR better off.
Playing basketball is a complete waste of time
Sports DO NOT BELONG in the education system!!

sport does belong in an education system where merit is rewarded.

It teaches success, it teaches failure, it teaches team work, it teaches modestly long term goal setting, it teaches fitness which enhances physical and mental ability.

Sport may not belong in an indoctrination system where being a looser is the ultimate aim.
