Drone racing going to be big!!!

Video: The Insane, 80 MPH Drone Racing League Launches With Wrecks Aplenty

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5RGoKT5Fa0

When you see footage from the Drone Racing League’s (DRL) (http://thedroneracingleague.com/) first race, you may think it’s a special-effects sequence from a sci-fi movie. Little glowing spaceships zip around in tight formations, weaving through neon gates, slithering through tight tunnels, and occasionally smashing into walls at high speeds. But the videos aren’t computer-generated. The flying robots are real, and the footage is intended to be the public’s first glimpse at a new professional sports league.
The racing part is easy enough to explain: In each race, four hand-picked pilots navigate a complex course at speeds of up to 80 MPH, trying to finish the course in one of the fastest speeds of the group. There are a dozen pilots at the start of each competition. If they place in the top eight during the qualifying round, they advance to the semifinals. If they finish in the top four there, it’s on to the finals. And in that final round, the first-, second-, and third-place finishers receive points. Borrowing a page from NASCAR, if you accumulate enough points over the course of a five-race season, you compete in the championship race at the end of the season.
But viewers don’t have to care about the race to find the videos compelling. It’s pure eye candy. There are plenty of injury-free crashes (http://thedroneracingleague.com/videos/?category=crash-reels), Tron-like visuals, and white-knuckle moments to stoke casual interest in these videos. And while the league launched just a few weeks ago, it already has a global scope. Pilots from all over the world participate. The league scouts them through YouTube and Instagram videos, as well as mutual acquaintances in flying clubs.
There have been two league races thus far—a preseason event in an abandoned power plant in New York, and the first regular-season event in Miami’s Sun Life Stadium—attracting competitors from Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and across the United States. There’s no real “hotbed” for drone racing, DRL founder and CEO Nicholas Horbaczewski says. Drone fever is pretty much everywhere he looks.

I wonder if that applies to 2nd hand sales ?

Don't you thing the party who originally registered a drone (i.e. if ever registered) will want to make sure that the 'registration' is transferred out of their name?

Don't be thumbing your nose at law enforcement, they don't put up with that shit. Overseers don't like their nigs being disrespectful and getting lippy.

Looks like they mandated carrying registration cards to keep keep the serfs accountable for their toys (while ISIS walks off with 1500 military grade humvees)
https://drone-registration.net (https://drone-registration.net)

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) (https://www.faa.gov/uas/) now requires every drone, R/C aircraft owner to register aircraft (sUAS) weighing over .55lbs (just over 2 sticks of butter) and must have a compliant label for identification and carry Certificate of Registration (Flight ID). We will assist you with your registration filing, make compliant labels and flight ID card.
Effective December 21, 2015, anyone who owns a small unmanned aircraft of a certain weight must register with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) registry before they fly outdoors. People who previously operated their UAS must register by February 19, 2016. You will be subject to civil and criminal penalties if you meet the criteria to register a drone and do not register, including fines of up to $250,000.

For playing with a toy. lol

When drones are outlawed only outlaws will have drones.

Looks so much fun that I'm sure they'll start banning them shortly.

The general track is
1 - require registration
2 - annual renewal of registration and fee
3- licensing of operator
4 - mandatory operator training class
5 - special tickets and fines for unsafe operation
6 - require insurance
7 - special fines and violations involving alcohol related operation

...if they ban these toys, they'd just miss out on all this potential revenue.
Even the talking heads on teevee call for a myriad of laws that should be quickly put in place to "keep up with technological advancements"

and never forget, we get attacked because of all our freedoms...

Only the idiots are registering. From what I heard the amateur flying club was telling everyone not to register and it will be thrown out in court. They pushed this registration of drones hard on the radio leading up to Christmas.

I work with a lot of people who own drones. Not a single one has registered it and said they don't plan on registering it either.

Gun owners' strategy 'kills' new registration

Move called 'stunning repudiation' of Democrat governor, allies

Published: 07/01/2015 at 8:17 PM

In a move described as a “stunning repudiation” of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his “anti-gun Democrat allies,” residents of the state have issued a “veto” of a new gun regulation.

By simply ignoring it.
The impact of the move was described recently by the Gun Owners of America. (http://www.gunowners.org/oped06232015.htm)
“We now know that less than 4.5 percent of the ‘assault weapons’ in New York were registered with the state as required by the draconian 2013 law, despite threats and warnings from hysterical New York Democrats and their allies in the media,” said a posting from Bob Owens on the GOA website.

“This is an even greater refusal rate than was experienced in next door Connecticut,
where anti-gun [advocates] rammed through a similar law in the wake of Sandy Hook [and] saw at least 85 percent of the Constitution State’s gun owners defiantly refuse to register their firearms, some going so far as to dare Gov. Dannel Malloy … to attempt confiscation,” GAO said.

GAO called it a “stunning repudiation” of Cuomo.

Yep, not enough prisons to house that many people. Not enough cops brave enough to attempt confiscation as they know it'll be a death sentence.

I don't think the recording time is very long. Only like 15-20mins. Do they stream back live to a location? If so, how long can they stream back live to a location? How long does it take to recharge the batteries? Just thinking out loud and I'm really tired.

Depends on the size and how big the battery is. Those guys are pros running high end drones.

Check out this site or amazon. start small and work your way up.

small ones 50-100.

medium ones 100-500

high end ones use gps
