Turkey wants ‘secure line’ created 10km inside Syria, including Azaz - deputy PMPublished: 17 Feb 2016 | 08:57 GMThttps://cdn.rt.com/files/2016.02/article/56c4371bc461888c1d8b45aa.jpg

Turkey wants to create a secure zone 10km within Syria, which would include the town of Azaz, Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan stated, as cited by Reuters. The move comes after Ankara’s shelling of Syrian Kurds for four successive days.
"What we want is to create a secure strip, including Azaz, 10km deep inside Syria and this zone should be free from clashes," Akdogan said in an interview on Turkey's AHaber television station, Reuters reports.

However, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan mentioned on Wednesday that Ankara does not intend to stop shelling Syrian Kurdish YPG militia. He also called on the US to choose whether it wanted to back Turkey or the Syrian Kurds.
Turkey has shelled Syrian Kurdish forces in northern Syria for four consecutive days as Ankara tries to stop the YPG (Kurdish People’s Protection Units) from claiming the town of Azaz, just 8km from the Turkish border.

A Turkish official said on Tuesday that Ankara would ask its coalition partners, including the US, to take part in a joint ground operation in Syria.
"Turkey is not going to have a unilateral ground operation. We are asking coalition partners that there should be a ground operation. We are discussing this with allies," the official told reporters at a briefing in Istanbul, as cited by Reuters.
"We want a ground operation. If there is a consensus, Turkey will take part. Without a ground operation, it is impossible to stop this war."
Meanwhile, on Monday, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu said Ankara would not allow Azaz to fall to the YPG forces.
"YPG elements were forced away from around Azaz. If they approach again they will see the harshest reaction. We will not allow Azaz to fall," Davutoglu told reporters on his plane bound for Ukraine, Reuters reported.
He said the Turkish military would render Syria’s Menagh airbase "unusable" if YPG forces do not retreat from the area, which they previously captured from Islamist militants. He warned the YPG not to move east of its Afrin region or west of the Euphrates River.

Turkey is worried about Syrian Kurds seizing more territory in northern Syria.
Washington and Paris have both called on Turkey to cease its massive artillery bombardment against Kurdish targets in Syria.
“We are concerned about the situation north of Aleppo and are working to de-escalate tensions on all sides,” State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a statement. “We have also seen reports of artillery fire from the Turkish side of the border and urged Turkey to cease such fir

Order from Chaos. It is also a key plank of the Alinski Rules for Radicals to continually press on with your efforts. Never slacken, keep the action and the "news" moving. Also improvise as events unfold. Don't just spend time planning, take action, any action. Smash the place up.

Never give the people time to think, look into or solve the problems..... you are creating.

At least 28 dead, 61 injured as blast hits military bus in Turkish capital AnkaraPublished: 17 Feb 2016 | 16:50 GMThttps://cdn.rt.com/files/2016.02/article/56c4b3edc36188d4238b457c.jpgWatch the video (http://rt.com/rtmobile/news/latest/332788/html/332788/video)
At least 28 people have been killed nad 61 injured in a car explosion in Ankara, Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister said. The blast happened in close proximity to the Turkish parliament building, and reportedly targeted military personnel.

The scene of the explosion is located in close proximity to Turkey's parliament, the Presidency of the General Staff, and Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard commands.
“We are very close to that place and we've heard two explosions,” one of the employees at a nearby hotel told RT by phone. “I went to the rooftop of our hotel and saw smoke… I saw a big fire. There is a military building around there… this was about 1 kilometer from us.”

A Turkish military general staff official has confirmed to Reuters the explosion targeted a bus carrying military personnel.

Social media users in Ankara say they heard a loud noise all across the city, and posted photos of a huge plume of smoke rising over downtown Eskisehir Avenue.

Omer Celik, a spokesperson for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said on his Twitter account that the explosion was the result of a “cowardly terrorist attack.”
A Turkish government spokesman has said that the attack was well planned. President Recep Erdogan has postponed his upcoming visit to Azerbaijan in light of the incident.

Twenty ambulances were sent to the scene of the blast, media reported, citing medical officials.

Witnesses reported helicopters circling the area above the blast.

Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency said that the government has imposed a media gag order banning organizations from broadcasting or printing graphic images of those who were killed or injured in the explosion.

Meanwhile, NTV reported that there had been another explosion as demolitions experts destroyed a suspicious package discovered by police in a different area, near the Interior Ministry building.

There has been no claim of responsibility yet, however Turkish officials said they suspect that this was a Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack.
Anonymous security sources in Turkey's mainly Kurdish southeast told Reuters they believed Islamic State militants (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) were behind the bombing.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu canceled his trip to Brussels which was due later on Wednesday, an official in his office said.
Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag has condemned the attack, which he called “terrorist” on his Twitter account.

Last October several explosions at a peace rally in the Turkish capital killed more than 100 people and injured dozens more. The explosions appeared to be the result of suicide bomb attacks.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has accused forces linked with the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia of the terrorist attack in Ankara on Wednesday. Ankara promised to continue to shell the YPG, with the Syrian Kurds denying all allegations and saying Islamic State is behind the attack.
In a live television speech, Prime Minister Davutoglu said Turkey has identified the perpetrator of the Ankara bombing attack as Salih Necer, born in northern Syria's Amuda province in 1992. He added the suspect has links to the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia. Davutoglu added the alleged attacker received assistance from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is outlawed by Ankara.

“Turkey has become the voice of the global conscience in the Syrian crisis and has given a lesson in humanity to the whole world,” ambitiously claimed Recep Tayyip Erdogan, referring to the European refugee crisis, conveniently neglecting to mention the cost of this virtue – 3 billion Euros.“In this process, where the oppressors and oppressed people's supporters are divided, Turkey has become the voice of the global conscience,” Erdogan said on Wednesday during his speech to district governors at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.

Erdogan Threatens to Expel Syrian Refugees From Turkey (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160211/1034579854/turkey-syria-fighting-refugees.html)

The Turkish leader was referring to the European refugee crisis (http://sputniknews.com/columnists/20160211/1034590138/putin-erdogan-refugees-europe.html), highlighting the West's incapability of slowing the flow of refugees from Syria.“No matter [if] the West acts in a rough, relentless, unconscientious way, they cannot control the refugee influx,” he added, as quoted by the Turkish daily Yeni Safak.
The Turkish head of state, however, failed to mention how much money he had negotiated (http://sputniknews.com/europe/20160209/1034439102/erdogan-eu-blackmail.html) for becoming “the global conscience.”
In November, the European Union agreed to pay Ankara (http://sputniknews.com/europe/20160203/1034180993/turkey-refugee-package.html) three billion euros in aid money, and promised a renewal of talks on its EU membership for an effort to stop the record influx of migrants into Europe.
Without any hint of irony, Recep Tayyip Erdogan continued:
“Turkey has given a lesson in humanity to whole world by looking after its Syrian brothers without discriminating by religion, language, sect or ethnicity.”

Apparently the “lesson in humanity” (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20160201/1034058795/erdogan-monopoly-of-lies.html) includes four days of intensive shelling (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160216/1034852920/turkey-shells-aleppo-artillery.html) of YPG positions inside Syria recently. YPG is a military wing of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), seen by Washington as an ally in its fight against Daesh, but as a terrorist organization by Turkey. It is also worth noting that within Turkey, the “humanitarian” regime (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20160212/1034638032/ankara-creating-monsters-erdogan-deep-state.html) is currently engaged in an assault on civil rights and freedom of speech, (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20160129/1033929467/erdogan-crackdown-freedom-of-speech-witch-hunt.html) with the recent arres (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160205/1034306566/turkey-journalist-freedom.html)t (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160205/1034306566/turkey-journalist-freedom.html) of two journalists for exposing Turkish arms smuggling to Syria serving as one example amongst many.

Turkish President Recept Tayyip Erdogan's unquenchable thirst to concentrate political power in his hands, together with his ever-broadening campaign against the Kurds, both at home and in neighboring Syria, threatens to take the country "to the brink of a fully-fledged civil war," warns Pakistani political analyst Salman Rafi Sheikh. In his latest analysis (http://journal-neo.org/2016/01/01/erdogan-s-kurdish-disaster-in-the-making/) for the internet-based foreign policy journal New Eastern Outlook, Sheikh, a freelance journalist and political analyst who covers international relations and Pakistani affairs, explained that the present Turkish leadership's intolerance toward the idea of sharing power with the Kurdish minority threatens to become a recipe for disaster.

True Colors: The Reason Why Erdogan Admires Hitler’s Government (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20160102/1032607006/turkey-erdogan-power-control.html)

"If we were to believe Erdogan's up-beat 'anti-terror' rhetoric," the analyst writes, "we might also be also be tempted to believe that Turkey, led by him, has been one of the most important states fighting terrorists since the beginning of the current phase of the conflict in the Middle East – a phase that originally started with the Western-engineered so-called 'Arab Spring'."Unfortunately, "while the 'spring' has since long become a disastrous 'winter', the spate of violence continues to send political jolts across the entire Mid-Eastern political landscape, pitting states against states as well as non-state actors against states."
"Nowhere is this tussle more evident and crucial," Sheikh argues, "than in the case of the Kurds, who have been one of the most important groups successfully contesting Islamic State's [Daesh's] militant onslaught. The struggle has been greatly successful and the more successful it becomes, the more uneasy the Turkish leadership ." This, the analyst suggests, "is evident from Erdogan's war against Kurds both inside and outside Turkey."
Moreover, he notes, the Turkish government's attempts to project the Kurds as "politically subversive" not only paves the way for political intolerance, but also "unwittingly push[es] them to start a more vigorous campaign for the protection of their rights."

Right to Self-Determination? Turkish Kurds Demanding ‘Autonomy’ Amid Increased Violence (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20151228/1032418479/self-determination-turkish-kurds.html)

The latest call, Sheikh recalls, came late last week, when several Kurdish organizations, including the pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP), Turkey's second largest opposition party, gathered in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir to demand more autonomy (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20151228/1032418479/self-determination-turkish-kurds.html) on the local level. HDP co-chairman Selahattin Demirtas, Sheikh noted, "said that Turkey's largest ethnic minority had to decide whether to live in autonomy or 'under one man's tyranny'. His call –although a reflection of the political suppression Kurds have been subjected to –was, as could be expected, projected by Turkey's [government] as 'unmistakable' evidence of 'treachery' and 'treason'."
On Saturday, quoted by the Turkish newspaper Today's Zaman, Erdogan suggested (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20160102/1032602543/erdogan-hdp-anatolia.html)that the HDP's leadership should be stripped of their parliamentary immunity for what he called their "constitutional crime" of calling for more autonomy. This followed on earlier, harsher but at the same time murkier threats, with the president suggesting that Demirtas' words amounted to "provocation (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151229/1032444146/kurds-turkey-president-comment.html)" and "treason."
What the Turkish media hasn't mentioned, Sheikh notes, is that "Erdogan's war against Kurds has intensified manifold since the beginning of Turkey's direct military intervention in Syria and Iraq. Demirtas' call came amid this very highly intensified war against [the Kurds]. Tension are running high in Turkey's predominantly Kurdish southeast, which has been rocked by curfews imposed on several towns where the security forces have been battling PKK fighters."

Kurdish-Arab Coalition Advances Against Daesh on Multiple Fronts in Syria (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151226/1032324536/sdf-offensive-kobani.html)

The Turkish-outlawed PKK, it's worth recalling, is affiliated with the Syrian YPG – or People's Protection Units, a military force which has played a decisive role (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151226/1032324536/sdf-offensive-kobani.html) in resisting Daesh and other jihadist terrorists which have taken over much of Syria. The government's war on the Kurds, Sheikh suggests, looks more and more "like a systematic massacre," with residents of the towns in question facing 24-hour curfews, "food shortages and problems with water and electricity supplies," their homes being damaged by shelling. Over 125 civilians are reported to have been killed since the start of the operation.
"In the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir, police were reported to have fired tear gas and [used] water cannons (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151230/1032496312/turkey-kurds-demonstration-curfew.html) against protesters who demonstrated against the curfew in the Sur district of the city," which has faced several curfews lasting several days at a time in the past month alone.

Unfortunately, Sheik notes, "Erdogan's silent war against Kurds has been largely ignored by the West, as the Western media continues its high-praise mantra about Erdogan's 'new role' in the war against [Daesh].

On the Brink of Civil War: Civilian Casualties Soar Amid Turkish Assault on Kurdish South (http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151231/1032527025/civilian-casualties-soar-turkey.html)

Thus, despite "having won his [party's] parliamentary majority by promising to bring stability to Turkey," Erdogan has only ended up "greatly stepp[ing] up the war against the Kurds, which he started during the summer. Since August 16, there have been 52 open-ended and round-the-clock curfews in 17 provinces and 7 Kurdish cities containing almost 1.3 million people. Numerous cases of civilian deaths as well as indiscriminate operations against the Kurdish population have been reported since that time.""One of the most important cases reported," the analyst noted, "which is also perhaps the most important instance of political suppression of the Kurds – is that of Cizre city Co-Mayor Leyla Imret's dismissal in September…Deposed by Erdogan's government, despite the fact that she had been elected by 83% of the voters in 2014," she "was not only deposed but also put under detention for warning of the risk of civil war breaking out in Turkey due to the Erdogan regime's brutal policies."
Moreover, "although she was reported to have been released soon after, she has been absent from the scene since at least December 16, 2015, when she put her last message on the internet informing the world about the Turkish army's shelling of her home."

Ultimately, Sheik warns that instead of eliminating support for the PKK and Kurdish nationalism, the Turkish government's efforts have had precisely the opposite effect. This "is so because the Erdogan regime is not, by any stretch of the imagination, ready to politically accommodate the Kurds within Turkey's constitutional framework."

Erdogan 'May Be a Culprit, but He's Washington's Culprit' - Armenian Newspaper (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20151225/1032318563/turkey-washington-daesh-terrorism.html)

This conflict, the analyst explained, was very much the result of last summer's parliamentary elections, which saw the pro-Kurdish HDP become the third largest party in parliament, turning into "by the far the biggest setback for the AKP since it came to power in 2002," and ruining "Erdogan's plans of changing the constitution to concentrate powers in his presidency.""It was on this basis," Sheik notes, "that Erdogan, leaning on his old nationalist foes, attempted to whip up nationalism" by starting a virtual civil war "against the Kurds and leftist forces of Turkey. In reality, this was and still is only a means to exclude Kurds from all constitutional processes to pave the way for the Erdogan regime to ease into a new constitutional framework."
In the final analysis, the analyst cautions, the Turkish leadership's "political intolerance is likely to translate into social intolerance, which in turn may literally take Turkey to the brink of a fully-fledged civil war, and bring it in line with Iraq and Syria." Absent an inclusive constitutional framework, continuing attempts "to concentrate more and more powers in [the presidency] would certainly turn out to be a recipe for disaster, rather than stability," Sheik concludes.

turkey will put ground forces in Syrian
Yes... First they put tens of thousands of soldier at Syrian border in full combat gear. Then they say that they should have a 10 km safety zone in Northern Syria. Then they bomb 3 buses full of low level military workers. Then they find the "culprit" is a Syrian Kurd. Luckily they were ready for this...

most complete morons would be able to see through this false flag bullshit!

Rights Group: Erdogan Murdering His Own, Blaming KurdsBy Gordon Duff, Senior Editor (http://www.veteranstoday.com/author/gordonduff/) on February 18, 2016
ECIPS and Rights Observatory Cite Turkey's Involvement in Terror Bombings, Staging Refugee Crisis

…by Gordon Duff, Senior Editor (http://www.veteranstoday.com/staff-writers/)Brussels (VT) – Dr. Riccardo Baretsky of the European Center for Information Policy in Brussels today announced that Turkey’s claims that recent attacks, killing dozens in Turkey, were done by PKK or even YPG Kurdish groups is baseless.
Baretzky cites a rush to judgement lacking in facts that places deep suspicion on the Ankara regime as being potentially complicit in these recent attacks, conveniently timed to coincide with the UN call for Turkey to end shelling Northern Syria.
http://www.veteranstoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/lido_936.jpg
Baretzky, in an interview broadcast on Russia Today, strongly advised against taking Turkey’s statements at face value and that ECIPS intelligence sources have confirmed, categorically that Turkey is fabricating its conclusions without reason or process.
The Geneva based Turkish Rights and Freedom Observatory cited sources inside Turkey as blaming Erdogan’s intelligence services for staging the two recent attacks, one on an army convoy. The rights group stated that Erdogan’s open alliance with Saudi Arabia and his rapid move toward embracing extremist views has alienated key members of Turkey’s military.
The recent attack on a military convoy, the group stated, is an attempt to stifle criticism of his crackdown on political opponents in the military and his plan to integrate Wahhabist teachings into military training.
On another note, the group cited that Turkey, in the last few days, has sent nearly 1000 fighters into Syria, many of whom are known terrorists or who have long criminal histories.

“Turkey has become a transit and staging zone, not only for Syrian opposition fighters but criminal groups, drug dealers, human traffickers, even mass murderers, all receiving full protection from Turkey’s intelligence services and army. With the worst criminals from dozens of nations roaming Turkey, placed above the law by Erdogan’s government, it is no wonder Turkey itself is descending into mayhem.”

‘Are you kidding us?’: Moscow reacts to Ankara's allegations that sided Russia with ISISPublished: 18 Feb 2016 | 23:47 GMThttps://cdn.rt.com/files/2016.02/article/56c622f5c3618812138b45e3.jpg

While terrorists rage in Syria and beyond, with many countries trying to unite their efforts in the fight against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), Ankara's blame game looks more like an untimely joke, Moscow says.
"Mr. Davutoglu [Turkish Prime Minister], are you serious or is it just the way you joke? If it's a joke, then I think at a moment like this everyone, and especially Turkey, should be busy not with irony or sarcasm, but rather with concrete actions to stand against terrorism. I think that's what Turkish people are expecting from you," Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a Moscow briefing on Thursday.
"Statements by Turkish officials alleging that Russia secretly supports IS are absolutely unacceptable," she added.

Earlier this week, Turkey's PM Ahmet Davutoglu accused Moscow of "behaving like a terrorist organization" and put its anti-terror actions in Syria in one line with IS offensive in the region.
"Russia and other terrorist organizations - first and foremost, the Islamic State in Syria - are responsible for numerous crimes against humanity," Davutoglu said during his brief visit to Ukraine, adding that "if Russia continues behaving like a terrorist organization and forcing civilians to flee, we will deliver an extremely decisive response."

Having called such allegations from Ankara "yet another stovepiping and lies," Moscow said it regrets that instead of uniting efforts in the fight against jihadi militants, Turkey is trying to undermine Russia's anti-terror operation.
"In the wake of the rising terror in the region, when we should really be closing ranks to fight this evil, we witness strange and even inappropriate statements from Turkey's leadership, who unfortunately increase such rhetoric," Zakharova said.
Following the UN-reported destruction of medical facilities and schools in Syria by unidentified missiles on Monday, Ankara hurried to proclaim the "barbaric attacks on civilians" as "being waged by both Russia and terrorist groups." Russian Defense Ministry denied the proofless accusations, saying that Ankara has launched an "aggressive information campaign" against Russia to prevent losing control in northern and northwestern Syria, where the Turkish authorities have been "absolute rulers" in the past years.

Wednesday's deadly attack (https://www.rt.com/usa/332820-us-russia-syria-suffering/) in Ankara has been added to the blame game against Moscow, with Turkey not only blaming Kurdish militia for the attack, but "warning" Russia not to support the Kurds, who have been successfully fighting IS in Syria.
"I'd like to warn Russia, which is giving air support to the YPG [Syrian Kurdish militia]... not to use this terrorist group against the innocent people of Syria and Turkey," Davutoglu said on Thursday, as quoted by Reuters. "Russia condemned yesterday's attack, but it is not enough. All those who intend to use terrorist organizations as proxies should know that this game of terror will turn around like a boomerang and hit them first," he added.

There are numerous unfounded claims coming from the mainstream media and politicians about the Russian and Syrian anti-terror campaign, political adviser to the president of Syria, Bouthaina Shaaban, told RT.
“What the Syrian army in cooperation with Russian aircraft are doing is fighting terrorism in Syria,” she said. “And what we are hopeful for is that other countries [will] join, because this terrorism is a threat to the entire[ty of] humanity.”

While the Kurdish groups, supported by the United States in the fight against IS in northern Syria, are considered one of the most effective ground forces in fighting jihadists in the area, Ankara regards them as terrorists.
Vowing retaliation in both Syria and Iraq for the Ankara bombing, Davutoglu said Turkey would continue to bomb Kurds, including Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) bases in northern Iraq and YPG positions in northern Syria, and expects cooperation from its NATO allies to assist Ankara in this fight.
Turkey has also been loudly calling on its Western partners to establish (https://www.rt.com/news/332179-erdogan-refugees-syria-eu/) a no-fly zone along the Turkish-Syrian border, which is primarily inhabited by Kurds, claiming it would help end the Syrian conflict and prevent deepening of the migrant crisis in Europe.
The Russian Foreign Ministry's Zakharova warned that a no-fly zone could lead to a "Libya scenario" in Syria.
"International community has already tried out such a concept. The result can now be clearly seen far away from Libya - in Europe, and will soon be seen outside of Europe," the spokeswoman said.

The concept of placing blame on Russia is a "good business" strategy, Zakharova added, saying that talking about Moscow as an aggressor allows other states to extract money from their budgets to fight the proclaimed threat.
"According to data for 2017, the US State Department's budget includes about $1 billion to counteract [alleged] Russia's aggression. Ukraine might have been excited with that, expecting more possible financial inflows. But only $42 million are allocated from this sum to Kiev's military needs," Zakharova said.
