In one of my anthropology classes (long ago) I remember reading of a tribe, when one member suffered great devastating loss and and unable to cope with it, He/She would confess to the tribe and the tribe would all perform a ceremony that included individuals in the group acting out in pain, crying, attempting to emulate the pain of the individual as to lessen the impact on him/her. It proved to aid in healing for the sufferer to know and understand that the group suffered with the individual.
We are lucky today to have one or two individuals to confide in during such trials, and many, instead, seek the help of some so called professional counselor or psychiatrist. In reality, those closest too us should be sharing in our joys and deep trials, be it the members of family, friends, work associates, church members, etc.
This video is very touching. The boys group rallies around him when he cannot perform and their inspiring ritual (notice it includes touching or laying on of hands) seems to give him the confidence to carry on and succeed.
