here we have two mexicans beating up a gay black -- each gets 15 years in fed prison plus other crap
this case is yet more proof of hate crime ranking chart (lower ranked groups rarely get hc charges against higher ranked..but commonly pushed by law/judges the other way) current standings:

Two Corpus Christi men were sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in federal prison, after they were both convicted of hate crime offenses in the assault of a gay African-American man.
Both Ramiro Serrata, Jr., 23, and Jimmy Garza, 33, pleaded guilty in Sept. 2015 to one count of conspiracy to commit hate crimes and one count of a hate crime violation of the Shepard-Byrd Hate Crime Act, for causing bodily injury because of the victim's sexual orientation.
In handing down the sentence, Senior U.S. District Judge Hayden Head said the defendants had abandoned their humanity to the "viciousness of animals." He also added that not only must the defendants be punished for their behavior, but that it sends a message that this type of behavior will not be tolerated in a civilized society.
Both men were also ordered to pay $10,800 in restitution, serve three years of supervised release, and register as sex offenders.
During each of their respective plea hearings, both men admitted to assaulting the man in March of 2012 because of his race and sexual orientation. It was later revealed the men punched and kicked the man, and assaulted the man using various weapons, including a frying pan, a mug, a sock filled with batteries, a broom, and a belt. The defendants also poured bleach onto the victim's face and eyes and Garza struck the victim in the head with a handgun.
Serrata and Garza admitted throughout the assault, they called the victim "gay" and other racial and homophobic slurs.
The victim was able to escape by jumping out of a window and running away until he was found by police.
The men will remain in custody until they are transferred to a federal prison.
