The prospect of a Donald Trump presidency has sent the liberals of Hollywood into an irrational (more than usual) panic. Everyone from Cher to Rosie O’Donnell has threatened to leave the US if Trump wins. They are, or course, completely full of shit. Now, the Grand Poobah of liberals has come up with a plan to allow the lefty losers to save face. Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown says he will build a wall around California if Trump wins the White House.
The Sacramento Bee (http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article66095977.html) reports that Brown was kissing some union ass at a labor organizer dinner earlier this week when he unveiled his plan.
“If Trump were ever elected, we’d have to build a wall around California to defend ourselves from the rest of this country,” said Brown.
Moonbeam later clarified that he was joking, but the joke’s on him. Most of the rest of the country would love it if California was walled off and couldn’t infect the nation with its liberalism.
The joke actually works against Brown in a variety ways. First, it shows his lack of respect for the United States by implying that California is more important than the other 49 states. It also proves what most of us already know in that California isn’t really a part of America. In addition, Brown seems to think that he would be punishing the rest of the country by walling off the Golden State.
The joke really ramps up when you consider what a liberal, pro-union, environmentalist hell California is. The idea that this state could actually build anything, let along a massive wall is laughable. There would be a decade of environmental impact studies, the bidding process would take another 5 years as the state considered minority contractors, and eventually all of the allocated funds would have been misappropriated.
Even if California could pull off a project of this size, it would take 30 years, be trillions of dollars over budget, and would bankrupt the state. By the time they finished the wall, Trump would have been out of office for decades.
And while Brown claims he was joking about building a wall, he definitely wasn’t joking about this: He actually claimed that the labor unions must rely on illegal aliens to keep their bloated pensions.
“Some of these old white guys ought to recognize that the whole pension system would collapse if we didn’t have a bunch of young people coming into this country and into this state. They’re not all coming from here. They’re coming from other places,” said Brown.
Brown finished by slamming former Texas Governor Rick Perry who successfully poached hundreds of companies from California.
“If I asked you who was that governor, there aren’t 50 people in this room that could even tell me his damn name. And people who attack California, they do become anonymous and forgotten. Rightfully so,” Brown said.
I tell you who knows Rick Perry’s name: the thousands of employees of companies that moved from high tax/high regulation California to business-friendly Texas.
Now this wall thing makes sense. Brown doesn’t want to keep Trump out; he wants to keep business in. Rather than fix all of California’s liberal problems to grow the economy, he wants to keep companies from moving to a place where they can thrive.
