Trump wins AZ by 20+ points, waiting for UT results to start coming in.

yeah he crushed Ariz.

Alaska is the last one for March? Then it is a month before the next round of voting?

Connecticut and Deleware? How is Trump going to go in those states?

Just got back from my caucus... My head is still spinning.

Check in was slow but reasonably controlled. Super-long lines. I've never seen turnout like this.

Got my credentials, but no presidential ballot. They said those would be delivered to our caucus room.

Got to my caucus room. I counted about 120 people there (no idea how many were actually registered and credentialed).

We elected Precinct Officers, State Delegates, and County Delegates - the typical incompetence and ignorance of the rules you'd expect to see from volunteers, but all went somewhat smooth.

...Then came the Presidential Ballot.

Someone shows up with a stack of probably 250 ballots. The precinct chair splits them up, and starts handing stacks of them out and tells people "take one and pass it down".

No checking credentials, IDs, NOTHING.

I'm sitting at the end of a row and people start handing me stacks of extras. I literally had over 50 ballots in my hand.

We were told to mark our vote and place our ballot in a tin can. They then asked for a volunteer to hold the can. At this point, most people filed out the door.

I cast ONE vote, then stuck around to see what would happen with the votes.

About 15 minutes later, with only about 10 or so people milling around, someone walks in the room with an envelopes STUFFED full of "absentee" ballots - some envelopes having 2-5+ ballots.

I raised a question and said, "isn't there an absentee process already in place? Didn't people have to register for that last week?" and was told "Oh no, this is completely normal".

As I left the building, I started overhearing results coming back from other precincts... Overwhelmingly numbers for Cruz... Like 70-90% or more. (In one precinct Cruz got around 100, Trump had 2, Kasich 0)

WTF?

so Cruz gets 62% of the ballot? only 1.5% reporting so far.

Remarkable. I wonder what people think, that they can just go in, cast the vote and not watch what happens next? People just assume it's all being handled above board.

That person should have recorded proceedings, although it would probably just make them angrier when they watch it.

So Sanders pulls nearly 75% of the UTAH vote?

Can someone tell me why every state does things different? Why are there no central electoral authorities that organise votes, or is that the next stage of this whole process, after the presidential nominee selection process?

I guess this is a process I've never participated in down here, but I suppose it works the same way. Local political party branches might have several candidates just for the branch nomination. 1 for the Red team + 1 for Blue team. And then those guys are presented to us (joe public) to vote on. You probably can only vote on those guys if you are a paid up member of the political part.

Maybe I should go join a political party to stir up some $h#t. We probably have another federal election later this year. I prefer not to vote though. Religious beliefs and so on.

Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck did a number on Trump in Utah. Either it was fraud, or the Mormons do as they are told.

Glen Beck has to be secret service or something. I can't think of any other reason that dog is still waking around.

What happens next?

Trump still needs 498 Delegates
Cruz needs 772

Rubio has 166
Kasich has 143
Their total is 309

Remaining Delegates 944

If Rubio and Kasich pull their campaigns, what happens to their delgates? Are they directed by the party or do the individual state rules apply anytime.

Just thinking if Rubio and Kasich redirected delgates to Cruz he would pick up another 309. They would do that just to bring it to a final contest. It looks like that is how it will go down.

The 1237 delegates threshold is 67% of the total available. There are a few permutations to work against Trump as I see it. I wonder when they will pull that stunt.

Probably both.

60% of pop in Utah identifies as Mormon, a bit more than 40% are active members. Probably they are more republican leaning than general population, so let's say 50% republicans are active Mormons and 25% non-active Mormon identifying people. 90% of active Mormons vote Cruz and 50% of non-active Mormons... Crunch, crunch= 45%+12.5%=57.5%... Cruz got 69%. Which means the 25% non Mormon republicans of Utah gave Cruz 11.5% of total vote. Which means non-Mormon republicans vote for Cruz was 46%. This is too high for that piece of shit.

Conclusion: Utah Mormons were told to vote for Cruz, but they probably cheated at the ballots too! A bit! Didn't matter though. Cruz would have won anyway...

What does it say about a state that voted 79% for a communist, 69% for a loser from Canada and have Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck as public representatives for Mormonism?

What's genuinely funny is that Lil' Narco pulled more votes in Arizona than Kasick despite Lil' Narco having suspended his campaign.

Maybe they don't have internetz in Az? Even Santorum got 463 votes there, does he have that many family members in Arizona?

This is quite a contrast to th original post.

First hand insider report - Incompetence, Manipulation, and Ballot Stuffing!!!
Here is my experience in northern Utah County, my first time voting here in this state:

Walked in, was a couple of minutes late, had to get my suit on after dinner and a shower.

Walked in, registered to vote instantaneously, from there received credentials to pick up the ballot forms. Picked those up without a wait. Sat around through some house keeping. My wife nominated me for county and state delegate. Nominated delegates, stood in front of about 250 people, and we gave a little speech, then answered questions. People then voted for prez, and voted for delegates. They placed the ballots in a sealed ballot box.

I was still at the front of the auditorium speaking with voters, answering questions, my wife took my three ballots to place them in the ballot box while I continued answering questions. I still had my credential in my hand, and my wife returned with the ballots, they wouldn't accept the ballots without the credential. Very tight, no nonsense.

I was concerned about the absentee ballot issue this year, as this is the first year they are doing this. The way they handled this is they took the absentee ballot, read the name, and checked the name against the credential list, this was the list of people eligible to vote at that precinct, they'd only count the absentee ballots of people that did not show up and pick up credentials. Pretty air tight.

I observed about 1% chance for fraud. I was very impressed. I do not believe any fraud occurred.

Now, to the demographics. I'd say the precinct was CONSERVATIVELY 70% LDS, very likely it was much higher. I believe there were about 15 potential delegates, I was the only pro-trump potential delegate. The other delegates were brutally anti-trump, and the audience was cheering their anti-trump statements. I did get a lot of love from the extreme minority of trump voters. Delegates stated that they would not vote for Trump if he was the nominee.

Cruz had 79% of the vote, Trump had 10%.

This absolutely was an LDS thing. They were predetermined to vote for Cruz, and they all knew it. The chief objection to Trump, from what I was told, was that he lacked "decorum". That was the big issue. Based upon what I saw, I think Utah could go blue for the first time (since they switched the colors) they hate Trump so much.

They HATE him.

They do hate Hillary and Sanders as well, but they HATE Trump.

Thank you for sharing that. Sounds like Utah County had their Precinct Chairs well trained. Kudos to them.

7/11 was a part time job!
